Can somebody help me... i've been playing badminton for the past 2 months 3 times a week (8 hours) on tuesdays, thursdays & satardays...

well i managed to somehow injure myself, playing badminton and my left side muscle started to hurt, like sharp pains... the muscle around the ribcage on my left... (im right handed)

my question is, is it possible to tear/pull a muscle around ur ribcage in badminton? because its been hurting everyday since tuesday... i don't think its appendicitis (i pray it isn't!)

i warm up before and after playing badminton so its not my warm up.... i've never felt this kind of pain before :crying: it hurts when i lay down to sleep aswell....

i'll give it another week or 2 before i'll go see the doctor... i don't usually go to the doctors if i have a pain u see....

its quite possible to tear a pec muscle, but it would be very rare in badminton. I'd go see a doctor about it.

I did that, sounds like yours is a little more painful than mine was. If it's really bad see the doc asap.

I am not an expert, but that does sound like a muscle tear to me. 1st thing is to take a rest, and don't play. Make sure check it out with a doctor, if you have a chance.

If it hurts generally could it be a burst or bruised rib?

i dont think it is a bruised rib although the pain is around that area... what's a burst?

Its not an appendicitis, that would be on your right side near your stomach. It is a pulled muscle in your rib cage, it happens when you turn too sudden or just if you land wrongly and your body twists in a direction that it cannot handle. I know b/c it happened to me, you need to let it heal and not play anymore till it fully heals, otherwise it will be a chronic thing that will re-occur. Dont put any pressure on it and sleep on the side where its not hurting, i would put ice on it as well.
