View Full Version : China Open 2004 Poster kwun 11-01-2004, 02:52 PM two posters for the China Open 2004. ants 11-01-2004, 05:27 PM very nice and attractive layout... cooler 11-01-2004, 05:46 PM 6 stars? I thought the olympic, all england and WC are the highest star tournaments kwun 11-01-2004, 05:49 PM Olympics & WC are 7* events. - 73* - 11-02-2004, 04:43 AM nice...the first poster's pretty attractive, but the hands on the second poster look kinda gross... ants 11-02-2004, 01:04 PM nice...the first poster's pretty attractive, but the hands on the second poster look kinda gross... thats artistic.. not gross.. :) hehehe Loh 11-02-2004, 07:22 PM I thought the first poster is more traditional in style and the second, modern. But I can't make out what the multi-coloured fingers represent (the date?). The image above it seems to convey the world globe being enveloped by the transparent, yet fluid water silhouette of the shuttlecork. Badminton captures the world's imagination? :) hcyong 11-02-2004, 09:09 PM But I can't make out what the multi-coloured fingers represent (the date?). The Olympic colours, with red given prominence. A fact I just knew about and want to share with those who may not know: The Olympic colours are thus chosen so that every national flag in the world has at least one of the five colours. laughable c. 11-02-2004, 09:19 PM I thought the first poster is more traditional in style and the second, modern. yeah, grains an' all (in the first). But I can't make out what the multi-coloured fingers represent (the date?). The image above it seems to convey the world globe being enveloped by the transparent, yet fluid water silhouette of the shuttlecork. Badminton captures the world's imagination? :):) wow! that's some interpretation! fuiyoh! but i've to agree with - 73* - the oil-painted hands thoroughly grossed me out. i thought the hands looked somewhat shuttlecock-like... OR the future of world-class badminton lies in the hands of china and the other countries those colours represented. ok.. i'm sure i don't understand what i just wrote myself! anyway, whatever art that does not show the obvious, is ABSTRACT art to me! kwun 11-02-2004, 09:19 PM But I can't make out what the multi-coloured fingers represent (the date?). how did you managed to link color and date? :) Loh 11-02-2004, 10:44 PM how did you managed to link color and date? :) I have to agree somewhat with hcyon's comments, but there must be other national flag colours not represented, unless you mix those that are present to form other colours and shades, if possible. However, I do agree that those colours represented on the poster are the major ones. As a clue, I could faintly see China's yellow stars on the 'prominent' red background. Some fingers are shaped like the outline of the shuttlecock. Colour and Date? Well first, the fingers give you the numbers. The brilliant colours demarcate them distinctly and when combined, the fingers and colours convey the concept of Roman numerials. The letter 'V' (blue & red) denotes the number 5 (five) and the crossed thumbs can mean 'X' or 10 (ten). The left hand yellow little (pinky) finger 'I' means 1 (one) and so on. But can anybody figure out the day, month and year as depicted by these coloured fingers? :) :D BTW, we are all glued to the office TV for the Presidential Election results. Looks like you folks in California have given your EV to Kerry. This is going to be a close race, man! ;) hcyong 11-03-2004, 12:52 AM BTW, we are all glued to the office TV for the Presidential Election results. Looks like you folks in California have given your EV to Kerry. This is going to be a close race, man! ;) California is never in danger of falling to the Repulicans. In summary, the whole race goes down to Florida and Ohio. Kerry just needed to take one of the two. So far, Bush has gotten Florida and currently, it seems very likely that he will get Ohio as well. Oh well, four years aren't that long. laughable c. 11-03-2004, 01:51 AM California is never in danger of falling to the Repulicans. In summary, the whole race goes down to Florida and Ohio. Oh well, four years aren't that long. it's long enough. anything can happen in four years. but i guess, america must decide her own fate. like Kerry said in Toledo, "You have an opportunity now, this day, to make fundamental change in America, and the hopes of our country are on the line.” |
