COOL! Another Zhao Tingting fan. Most people are either Gao Ling or Ra Kyung Min fans. Or even Zhang Jiewen/Yang Wei/Lee Kyung Won and other so called "second tiers". Zhao Tingting is great though.

I am sort of new to 21st badminton world so here are some news from cctv 5.

-2004 World Junior runner up, * Weijin *-
Denmark Peter Gade was defeated by 2004 World Junior runner up Weijin (* a shocking news *). According to Weijin, his coach went over Peter's video with him, and also because Weijin's slow style didn't fit Gade's habit of playing fast pace game, he was able to win the game. He was surprised that he could win the veteran. Peter Gade's response was that Weijin played a very good game.

Weijin later defeated by the 2004 Olympic man single champion, Indonesian player. The gold metalist defeated him with good defence and deceptive returns. Weijin was not able to find a way to counter it and so was downed by 2 sets.

-1st place- WD
Chinese woman double took the 1st place. All WD semi-final places were taken by Chinese doubles.

-Coming up XD Final-
China XD TinTin and her partner Chen got into final, will meet with Denmark pair. Early on, the Chinese pair defeated Indonesia 2-1 (17-14) after trailing by 8-14 at 3rd match. A very close game. The Indonesian pair must be very disappointed with their performance.

-Lin Dan vs Chen Hong, MS-
Lin Dan defeated Chen Hong. Chinese players took two places in semi-final. Lin Dan will meet Denmark in semi-final.
-Chen Jin vs veteran Bao, MS-
2004 World Junior champion, Chen Jin, lost to Bao Chun Lai. Bao will meet the 2004 Olympic gold metalist.

-MD enters semi-final-
China (Yang/Paul), Malaysia, Indonesia, and Denmark.

let's hope Bao has finally matured. i was there watching him in the Sudirman Cup semi-final. he was about to take the match leading in the 2nd game. only to have let his own guard down and let Taufik come back point by point and eventually Taufik won the match. Bao can be very painful to watch sometimes.

That's quite true and also the reason why I mentioned if he could keep his cool. If he is capable of controlling his emotions it will be an interesting match. I give him the edge over Taufik if he could play his normal game.

Taufik is not the Olympic Gold medalist for nothing. He is an excellent player in his own right. Just felt the current players, Bao is the one with the best skills to match Taufik. Apparently Bao is faster of the two, but Taufik is trickier.

Usually semi-finals will still have 2 courts. Only finals will have 1 court.

Sorry chaps, no results! I just wanted to say that Bao is the player Taufik hates most to play i.e. fears most. He admited this in one of the tournaments where he met Bao and lost. I go for Bao as Taufk has a secret love-hate relationship in his head with Bao. He does not know whether to dominate or submit to him.

Well I got the results I wanted and expected. Taufik has a mental block against Bao which has become a fear factor. LinD also has something of a problem with Bao and I expect Bao to beat Lin again tomorrow.:p
I cannot see Xia XS (he knows and said it), and ChenH to last much longer. Chen Yu, Chu Weilun and Wu Yunyong are finished. I expect China will play Chen Jin, Gong WJ and Liyu more frequently to prepare for the next TC, SC, WC and 2008. They are too old for the next JWC. For that, China already has 2 others (15, 16 yo) who played singles this year in the WJC.:cool:

Xie Xingfang is quite cute actually, she and Lin Dan is a pair I think.

Xie has a great opportunity to win 3/3 tourneys when she plays WangC who has an abysmal record against the top Chinese since 1995. Xie has been a Cinderalla in the Chinese outfit because she is younger and mainly because she has almost always been stopped by one of the 'big 3' at QF stage. They were not in Gemnany & Denmark and she avoided them here. At 23 she has achieved little. Despite consistency she lacks a killer stroke and the flash of brilliance of the stars. After GongRN, no top juniors have been allowed on the S circuit -Wang Rong, Zhu Lin, Jiang Yanjiao, Chen Lin grew up on the sidleines, and struggle in senior tournaments due to lack of experience. Why?
China is not 'home' for Pi, Yao and Xu. Chinese officials and the public do not consider them as Chinese players.:p
