I have been trying out some New raquets from SOTX...

The following are new (I think)..

1) SOTX Woven 12
2) SOTX Woven 13
3) SOTX titanium 7
4) SOTX Titanium 9
5) SOTX Titanium 11

The Ti-7,9, and 11 are Isometric head, but with an active kickpoint (same idea as some Gosen rackets). The old SOTX TI-series had the kick-point but was classic oval head.. and rather flexy shaft.

The Ti-11 is stiff to mid flex I would say, and TI-9 medium-to-more flex and Ti-7 is very flexible...

Myself and a friend compared ti-11 to MP100, switching back and forth and mostly doing smash, and defense. And we could both agree that the ti-11 was indeed powerful.. more so than MP-100 !!! Which I was quite stunned, as I find MP100 to be one of the most "punchy" rackets out there..

What Can I say.. I'm sold on it.. Will probably switch to the Ti-11 from my AT800.. But Iäll have to play more with it.. first impressions can sometimes be deceiving :-)

Anyway.. I think Ti-7 and Ti-9 are a little bit to flexy for my taste.. Could mabe work if I strung them harder (tried them 21x23, but I usually use 25x23 or harder).

I also tried Woven 12, and 13.. Which I think are a bit to heavy feel for doubles.. More of singles-type rackets.. It Seems like SOTX has made these two much much stiffer than the rest of the Woven rackets.. Which I think is good news for all power-smashers out there :-) . It didn't feel like I got the timeing just right when trying them, so I'll probably have a go later.. as they really feels like they have potential but that I'm to weak in my ofrearm to get the speed and timing right (or maybe I was just tired after all smashing :-) )

I would welcome if any other BF:er had some input on these models to comapre their experiences (and maybe get some second opinions, as I possbily can't buy and do longer testing with all of the new models ;-) )

Cheers,

BTW..

This are the specs for the models:

Ti-7 (84±2g, length = 665mm, Balance point 288mm, stiffness 8.5-9.0, <29lbs, playerStyle=control player )
Ti-8 (85±2g, lenght = 670mm , Balance Point 290mm, Stiffness 8.5-9.0,
<29lbs, playerStyle=attack/balanced )
ti-11 (87±2g, lenght = 675mm , Balance point 292mm, Stiffness = 8.0-8.5, <29lbs, playerStyle=attack/agressive)

Woven-12 (84±1g, length=670mm, balanace point 282mm stiffness=very stiff! (could not find figure), <32lbs, playerstyle = attack/balanced)
Woven-13 (88±1g, length=675mm, balance point 291mm, stiffness=very stiff! (could not find figure), <32lbs, playerstyle = attach/agressive)

You said Ti-7 and 9 are too flexy for your taste and chosed ti-11 as it is medium stiff. How come you rate ti-11 stiffnesss 8 to 8.5 while u give ti-7 & 9 a 8.5 to 9.0 stiffness rating? (I'm assuming higher number = higher stiffness)

when u say ti-11 is punchier than mp100, are u comparing with same string and tension and same shuttle conditon? (new shuttle alway feel punchier than an used shuttle in my view)

Hi!

The numbered stiffness rating is not my rating, it's figures that I got from SOTX.. (I couldn't find any on the new woven ones). I guess higher numbers would men higher flex, but I am not sure how they measure the flex.. I usually bend the rackets myself to get some feel if it feels flexy or stiff..I don't really trust the ratings :-). But Ti-11 is defenitively stiffer than Ti-9, so I assume 8.0-8.5 rating means stiffer than 8.5-9.0 rating (it's probably a flexibility rating, rather than stiffness-rating)..

My coment about Ti-7,9 and 11:s flexiness was "subjective" when bending, and testing them.. Even though The figures I got indicated same stiffness for ti-7 and ti-9 I would say ti-9 is clearly stiffer (IMOP).. Especially since it bends less and still having a longer shaft than te ti-7 !?!?..

When comparing the ti-11 against MP-100, the ti-11 was strung with SOTX strings BS-1021 (not to impressive strings from my experience trying other SOTX rackets :-( ). MP-100 had BG-80 (which I like alot more) both where strung at about the same tension 21x22, The MP100 was strung awhile ago so it have probably lost a little bit of tension.. But stringingwise I would say the MP-100 had an "advantage" stringing-wise.. But granted that the best thing would be to test both with same string (ie restring the SOTX with BG80 :-) )..

As I tested for quite some time we had to switch shuttles (I think it was four times, so I used both rackets both with new and old shuttle, didn't notise any major difference (if the shuttle gets slow or bad I usually replace it, even though the feathers haven't broken... )

For SOTX, the stiffness rating counts from the other way, the higher the #, the lower stiffness is. :)

Does anyone know where to buy SOTX racquet in the US? Is there any reliable online shop?
