Hi all, i'm planning on getting a new racket (changing from Ti-7) and am thinking of trying out the AT series. What's the difference between the AT700 and AT800OF? I'm more an attacking type player and probably looking at a head heavy racket.

Thanks in advance :D :D

I believe AT800OF is more for doubles while AT700 is for singles

The difference is mainly in the racquet frame. The AT-800OF has a larger boxed shape cross-section to provide greater power with a stable hitting surface. There is nothing better than the old school technogy of brute force that size matters. But then it is not so maneuverable. You gain some, you lose some. The AT-700 has a smaller, non-boxed shape cross-section and is more maneuverable. If you want to use the same racquet for both singles and doubles, you can forget about the AT-800OF. The AT-700 is a much better choice for the dual role you are looking for. :D

oh... forgot 2 add... I play around 3 times a week (1 training, 2 club) so i'd prefer something that won't break in 1/2 a yr (preferably last 9 yrs like my old pro kennix racket :D )

and correct me if i'm wrong... but the price difference between the two is around... $150 HK? which is around $28 AU and $20 US. so i won't mind getting either. The main types of games that i would be playing are singles and mixed doubles (gf wants me to take it up... :crying:).

It is not for me to try to convince you which is the better of the two, AT700 vs MP100. Both are good, one is light weight head-heavy and the other more evenly balanced, one is new the other old. Try to borrow the two and try them out. If you are coming to Hong Kong you can actually contact Cheung Tung to try out these two racquets in a badminton session that he can arrange for you.

He is an OEM supplier who also sells retail. He plays at various places, where he supplies them shuttles in bulk. Call him at 97879118 when you are in HK.

We used to play together when he dropped in at our old club delivering boxes of shuttles. I do not go to the club anymore although I do visit him when requested to give some input on stringing to players and coaches who learn about stringing at his place.
I am not sure about his prices. I remember it is about HK$950 for the AT700 and HK$1,130 for the AT800, both with strings. Why don't you try his own OEM racquets, called La Fleche, with its 2 top models giving the AT700 and AT800 some real competition at half the price. I am trying out his La Fleche 600, which is his top model, and I think it is nothing to sniff at.

isn't it suppose to be the other way around? i think AT800 is designed for doubles, which has much faster speed, but you're saying it's less maneuverable?

I think you are mixing up the AT-800DE with the AT-800OF, the latter is a sledge-hammer, the former tamer but much faster. The AT-700 is in-between in power and maneuverability, and unlike the AT-800, the AT-700 is ideal for singles whilst its playability in doubles is more respectable than the AT-800 is for singles.

oh., HI.,

MP-100 is ranked as the top single racket.
However, i haven't use this one before., i just use the mp99, if i were u , i will get mp99. Although i am using AT800of.

AT800of does really give u a decent smashes and clears.(10/10)
and the sound you like. However, net play is still very hard to control. However, mp99 is (defensive play racket) 8/10 for smashing
and very good in net play.

ya, of course, all of the above is just my opinion.
my at800of is 4UG4 23lb w/BG80

i think most of the stores now only carries 3UG4 or G5
