I just bought a new swingpower SS racquet. But the recommended tension on it is lower then what i like to play with. I usually string my racquets at about 23 - 24 lbs. The recommended tension for swingpower is no more then 20. I guess this post is directed more to Swingpower users, what do you guys recommend? Do you guys follow this tension recommendation by Yonex? It is hell of an expensive racquet i would hate to break it.

Yonex always recommends string tensions lower than what the racquet can handle since they do not want people to break the racquet with high string tensions. Don't worry about it too much unless you are playing above 26 lbs. The racquet can handle tensions upto 30-31 lbs as many pros are stringing their racquets at, but with such high tensions, you must have correct techniques otherwise you will break the string and may do some damage to the racquet itself.

Another issue to worry about is warranty. If the racket is strung above the recommended tension, the warranty won't be honored.

It should be all right with 23 or 24 if the string job is done correctly.

By the way, I don't recommend string over 25 because:
1. the racket itself will be weak and easy to break upon clashes.
2. the string will be easy to break as well.
3. no warranty will be given
4. you will have to restring the racket very soon (more money will be spent)
5. high tension gives you higher chance of injuries for your elbow.

I string my racket at lee's, and 19 lbs works for me on a tisp sx. In fact, the raquet is even better now since the tension has drop a bit I am guessing it is around 17 or 18 lbs of tension, but its damn fun to smash with :D.
