View Full Version : Ong Ewe Hock Thanks to 7x5
Anybody thinks Ong can win the championship if the game set at 15x3.
Well, at least the match kept everybody on the edge of their
seats and there were very few interuptions and strategies varied
from set to set.

I was cheering on Rudy all the way but i think Ong deserved to win it, like Hendrawan, hes a veteran shuttler and deserves to win tournaments before he retires... well done!

rony had everyhting to win the match, he is stronger in both attack and defense than ewe hock. but so sad he ws nervous and made sooooooo many unforced errors. that's what gave ong the match. in fact, at the 1st set and the end of the 4th set, rony was totally superior, controlling everything. ong had 6-4 in the 4th set - match point, but all ong's high serves was jump smashed by rony and ong couldnt even take the shuttle. rony than took the 4th set point by point. the 5th set rony was making errors throughout, and only started to wake up with ong at match point, which was too late.rony could have won, given more experience, i think he could possibly replace taufik hidayat as indonesia's no 1.

If you ask me, I think that the for the next Thomas Cup, INA should field Rony in 1st Singles, Taufik in 2nd singles and either Johan or Budi in 3rd singles. As for the doubles, Tony/Halim and Candra/Sigit, can go into either 1st or 2nd doubles, doesn't matter
Lets not take away the credit for Ong, he played well enough to win the match. Rony might have the very good attacking, but it is no point if all he can attack is only the net.
I feel Rony should take this as a lesson and move on, Ong deserves this.
