View Full Version : early predictions+ draw for Indo open aiyuuw 12-09-2004, 06:45 AM i saw the draw in www.worldbadminton.net (http://www.worldbadminton.net) but why isnt there mixed double draw, ? silvia 12-09-2004, 06:55 AM there is...the last one.... aiyuuw 12-09-2004, 07:22 AM there is...the last one....oh yes,,,yes,,,:D double 12-09-2004, 07:38 AM There're 31 Indonesian pairs in the men doubles... jkusmanto 12-09-2004, 07:45 AM Indo Open is an opportunity for some provinces to send its players to gain experience. The provinces like Jakarta, Yogyakarta, West-, Central and East Java will send as many players as possible to IO. There're 31 Indonesian pairs in the men doubles... hcyong 12-09-2004, 08:43 PM Except MS and to a lesser extent MD, I think the entries are not befitting a major tournament. Even if you assume the Danes are here. Just look at the possible QF matchups. Barring major upsets, Probable MS QF lineup: Lin Dan v ( Xia Xuanze or Wong CH ) ( Taufik or Chen Yu ) v ( Ng Wei or Anders Boesen or Hafiz ) ( Lee CW or Park Sung Hwan ) v ( Chen Hong or Chen Jin ) Sony Dwi v Bao Chunlai Prediction: Lin Dan beats Lee CW in final :), with Taufik and Sony being primary spoilers Probable WS QF lineup: Pi Hongyan v ( Salakjit Ponsana or Cheng Shao-Chieh ) Jun Jae Youn v ( Ling Wan Ting or Lu Lan or Jiang Yan Jiao ) ( Tracey Hallam or Silvi Antarini or Li Wenyan ) v Wang Chen Kanako Yonekura v Xie Xingfang Prediction: Xie Xingfang beats Pi Hongyan, with Jun Jae Youn and Wang Chen being primary spoilers Probable MD QF lineup: ( Luluk/Alven or Chan/Koo ) v ( Liu/Njoto or Jung/Lee Kor who did well in Sg or Hoon/Tan Mas world junior champs ) Sang/Zheng v Chew/Choong ( Candra/Sigit or Eng/Flandi ) v ( Tan Bin Shen/Ong or Gunawan/Bach ) ( Sudket/Patapol or Lin/Fairuz ) v ( Cai/Fu or Blair/Robertson ) Predictions: Luluk/Alven beats Candra/Sigit, with Malaysians and other Indons being possible spoilers Probable WD QF lineup: Yang/Zhang v Wong/Chin Tripp/Wright v Lee Kyung Won/Ha Emms/Kellogg v Zhang Dan/Zhang YW ( Du Jing/Yu Yang or Jiang Yanmei/Li Yujia ) v Saralee/Sathinee Predictions: Yang/Zhang beats Saralee/Sathinee, with Lee/Ha being possible spoilers. Lee almost defeated Yang/Zhang in Singapore. Probable XD QF lineup (very top-half heavy): ( Robertson/Emms or Saputra/Li ) v Lee Jae Jin/Lee Hyo Jung Zhang/Gao v Widianto/Natsir ( Jung Jae Sung/Hwang Yu Mi or Anggun/Tetty ) v Blair/Munt ( Xie ZB/Zhang YW or Koo/Wong ) v Sudket/Saralee Predictions: Widianto/Natsir beats Sudket/Saralee, with Robertson/Emms, Zhang/Gao and Koo/Wong being primary spoilers kwun 12-09-2004, 08:49 PM looks like INA vs. CHN with some KOR and THA in the mix. there is a possibility that Lin Dan and Xie Xingfang will be crowned again. but then there is Taufik and Wang Chen to spoil it. i think Wang Chen is the defending champion. kwun 12-09-2004, 08:52 PM Probable WD QF lineup: Yang/Zhang v Wong/Chin Tripp/Wright v Lee Kyung Won/Ha Emms/Kellogg v Zhang Dan/Zhang YW ( Du Jing/Yu Yang or Jiang Yanmei/Li Yujia ) v Saralee/Sathinee Predictions: Yang/Zhang beats Saralee/Sathinee, with Lee/Ha being possible spoilers. Lee almost defeated Yang/Zhang in Singapore. you mean Lee/Lee ? Lee Kyung Won / Lee Hyo Jung. yes. that was a great match, with Yang/Zhang down 12-2 in the second game and then came back to win the match and eventually the tournament. Saralee/Sathinee are a joy to watch as they always work very hard and have the cheerfulness of Gao Ling. they certainly live up to the "land of smile" reputation of Thailand. ctjcad 12-10-2004, 01:26 AM Men's Single.....it could be either an all-Indonesian(Taufik vs. Sony) final or all-China final(Lin Dan vs. BCL)..If all goes as plan, we could see the 1st meeting between Taufik and Lin Dan in the SF, wow that should be one heck of a match(keep finger cross)..Also, if you guys notice in the Men's Single draw, 5 Indonesians will play the Qualifiers(there are 6 of them) while 1 New Zealand player will play the last qualifier...And the funny thing is, only 1 RANKED player will play a qualifier, guess who's that player....yup Taufik Hidayat. He is ranked #4, but he IS THE ONLY ranked player who is getting a bye in the 1st round, whilst the other 15 ranked players have to play in the 1st round...Hmm, since Taufik will be facing a bit more "pressure" as he is looking to win the tourney 3 straight yrs, personally this sounds interesting and very "fishy"... Womens' Single...it's an open field. For Indonesian, look for Maria Kristin and/or Silvi Antarini to make some noise, as they both each won the recent Malaysian Satellite tourney and Vietnam Satellite tourney.. Men's Doubles..it's an open field, but don't be surprise to see an all-Indonesia Final..look for Tony Gunawan and Howard Bach to be in the mixed, they could make some noise...The only real threat other than the Indonesians are the pairs from China.. Women's Doubles....hmm, barring any major injuries, it should be the pair from China who won the Gold Medal...no contest.. Mixed Doubles...it's an open field. It should be interesting to see how Nova/Lilyana play in their 3rd tournament together. I'm looking for minimum 2 titles each for Indo and China, maybe 3 to either one.. i saw the draw in www.worldbadminton.net (http://www.worldbadminton.net) but why isnt there mixed double draw, ? *GaDe~CaMiLlA* 12-10-2004, 02:04 AM danish players didn't come to indonesia open??????????? i see the draw only got anders boesen and niels kaldau!!!!!!!!! :D silvia 12-10-2004, 09:04 AM I think taufik has great chance of defending his title..... SE1992 12-10-2004, 09:43 AM I think taufik has great chance of defending his title..... prior to his olympics win, taufik had always shown much prospects but hadn't really won any big prize except for the string of indonesian opens. he has a good chance of continuing the trend with the home crowd advantage. But hope that lin dan and lee chong wei can continue recent good forms and provide good fights. jamesd20 12-10-2004, 01:32 PM This should be a good chance to see how strong Lin Dan is under pressure-Can he beat Taufik in indonesia? or will one of them fall before they meet? MS should be good (as always!) suetyan 12-10-2004, 08:57 PM wow,Lin Dan also very strong one ar,although it's Indonesia Open, the percentage of Taufik win will more high but Lin Dan also strong too.Xie Xingfang and pi Hongyan who is stronger ? silvia 12-10-2004, 10:18 PM This should be a good chance to see how strong Lin Dan is under pressure-Can he beat Taufik in indonesia? or will one of them fall before they meet? HAHA you are most probably right here based on recent records! :D ctjcad 12-11-2004, 03:30 PM hmm, what is their current/recent head to head record??..i thought taufik had a 1-1 record vs. BCL prior to him losing to BCL 2-1 in the recent China Open with a very bad foot injury(no excuse but you have to take that into consideration, a less than 100% Taufik)??..And if goes as planned, remember BCL will have to face Chen Hong, Lee Chong Wei and Sony Kuncoro(to name a few) *if* he is going to advance to the Final... Rememeber also Taufik is playing in his home country with his old coach behind him, whilst BCL, Lin Dan already played at his home country.. HAHA you are most probably right here based on recent records! :D aiyuuw 12-11-2004, 05:36 PM I'm looking for minimum 2 titles each for Indo and China, maybe 3 to either one.. :cool:i can get your point,ws and wd for china, and xd and md for indonesia, and these 2 countries will battle for ms title aiyuuw 12-11-2004, 07:58 PM i read in www.badminton-indonesia.com (http://www.badminton-indonesia.com/) that sony is injured in his right thigh which he got since china open, and that its still sore, even tho he doesnt whitdraw.with that i think indonesia's chance to get ms title is lessen, and the hope is now alll on taufik's shoulders, and malaysia and china will have bigger chance to get the title even tho sony was never really a big threat for anybody, but still Johansen 12-12-2004, 09:12 AM There will only be to danish players in this tournament. Anders Boesen and Niels Christian Kaldau - both in MS. The reason is that Denmark normally only send the whole team when they can do two tournament on the same journey - and Hong Kong is cancelled.. Johansen www.badminton-nyt.dk (http://www.badminton-nyt.dk) Qidong 12-12-2004, 11:02 AM Interesting, China send most of the top players except WS. Does Li want to make sure the Golden Couple will shine again. ;) *GaDe~CaMiLlA* 12-12-2004, 12:13 PM There will only be to danish players in this tournament. MS : Wish Bao will win but i think Lin Dan will show us that he's now the master lol WS : GO GO GO HONGYYYYYYAAAAAAN !!!! LoL MD : in front of their homecrowd Candra/sigit WD : Yang/zhang Wxd : new pair Widianto/natsir wl2172 12-12-2004, 02:36 PM Based on current form, I would say Lee Chong Wei has a great chance. I think if he manages to conserve his energy during matches and not overkill his opponent in the first set (like what happened against Kenneth in Singapore), he will be too strong even for Taufik. This guy has some resemblance to Zhao Jian Hua the magician. When he leapts up, no one knows where he is going to send the shuttle. IMHO, I have not seen anyone of Zhao's style or magic since he retired, he was supreme during those few years when he was at his best. He was like the Micheal Jordan of badminton :) Fook90 12-12-2004, 08:02 PM Anyone noticed that Sigit Pamugkas is in the qualifying draw ? Is he the Indo MD coach or just another person with the same name ? Bambang Suprianto also would be playing XD. He used to be one of my favourite player. I hope he can win the Thai second seeds Sudket and Saralee. Marleve Mainaky is also pairing up with his brother Karel to play MD. I am awaiting to see how they fare tomorrow. Anatolii 12-12-2004, 08:53 PM MS-Hafiz or Taufik (lindan will lose) WS-Jun Jae Youn MD-Chan/Koo WD-Saralee/Sathinee of Thailand XD-Robertson/Emms :p hmmm.. you don't seem to have any confidence in the chinese team lol! :D but sure, it'll be nice to see a different outcome in MS and WS after the 'golden pair' winning 3 titles in a row. personally, i'd like BCL to bag the MS title. in WS, pi hongyan; WD the no.1 pair. MD- no preference. XD - Zhang/gao of course! suetyan 12-13-2004, 05:59 AM hope the Golden Couple Lin Dan and Xie Xingfang will be the champion again !! kokcheng 12-13-2004, 06:11 AM Based on current form, I would say Lee Chong Wei has a great chance. I thing the reason that Denmark only send the whole team for two tournament is a question af money... Johansen www.badminton-nyt.dk (http://www.badminton-nyt.dk) It seems boesen is getting little injuries quite frequently these days. It is a shame if money is the problem. We did think that it wuold be difficult to arrange to stay/train for these set of tournaments when the HK open was cancelled. I guess this is part of the reason too? |
