View Full Version : Korea Open Semi-finals Day
hcyong 01-28-2005, 05:59 AM The action really starts in the semis.
MS
Peter Gade v Park Sung Hwan
Kenneth Jonassen v Boonsak Ponsana
(not easy at all for the favourites)
WS
Pi Hongyan v Wang Chen
Jun Jae Youn v Tracey Hallam
(the top half feels like the final)
MD
Candra/Sigit v Jung Jae Sung/Lee Jae Jin (the old v the new)
Guo Zhendong/Xie Zhongbo v Jens Eriksen/Martin Lungaard-Hansen
(Guo who? Xie who?)
WD
Zhang Dan/Zhang Yawen v Gail Emms/Donna Kellogg
Du Jing/Yu Yang v Lee Kyung Won/Lee Hyo Jung
(Even fielding 4th and 5th string, China could very possibly dominate the final yet again, but the Lees could do something about that)
XD
Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir v Lee Jae Jin/Lee Hyo Jung
Zhang Wei/Yu Yang v Jens Eriksen/Mette Schjoldager
(A new Chinese mixed pair; let's see how they do against the veterans. Nova/Lilyana heavy favourites for the title.)

No, the ones who defeated Luluk/Alven are another pair, who I don't even recognise. Jung/Lee then defeated that pair.
I watched Jung/Lee in Singapore last year. They are definitely the upcoming pair from Korea after the current batch retires. They may give Candra/Sigit a run for their money but I don't think they will beat them now.

You are getting mistaken, it is Jung/Lee who defeated Luluk/Alven.
They also won against Ha/Kim in korean national champs... their semi against Candra/Sigit should be a great match!!

Yes, silly me. Well then, Luluk/Alven did not lose to just anybody then. They got a tough draw. Jung/Lee remind me of Sang/Zheng when they are fiery. I agree, the semis will be interesting.
aiyuuw 01-28-2005, 04:43 PM i dont know, im just too scared to even think how the results might turn out, im just hoping for the best for indo, becos both pair seem to get tough opponents,,

Qidong 01-29-2005, 09:27 AM very impressive for the "oldies" who are 35 and 32 years.. Who do you think will win the MS title
Kenneth Jonassen. He has been living in Peter Gade's shadow for too long. And I also think he has the best sportmanship in MS right now.
jason_kidd 01-29-2005, 11:01 AM mmm. You know, JE / ML are on fire right now.. they've been going toe to toe on many competitions now...
erm....i guess the score will be 15-10 15-10...candra/sigit will win easily... yes!!! candra still like hell good....
Alias 01-29-2005, 12:50 PM Jens Eriksen plays two finals?!
Quite an achievement!!!
And I think Gade will win the MS, in 3 sets...
Syaoran_Style 01-29-2005, 02:38 PM Hongyan Lost .... :crying: :crying:
i really thought this time she could win a big titles, but once again she has been stoped .. 11-8 11-8, loose for a few points =//
i really really like wang chen but hongyan deserved this title, apart of being a great player she's actually an extremely nice girl ... humm maybe next time :)
so now :
GO GO GO WANG CHHEEEEN !!! :p
Syaoran_Style 01-29-2005, 02:41 PM I wish peter will win this title, he worked so hard these past year for make a come back at the highest level, he didn't won any big title since 2 or 3 years .. so maybe he will be able tomorow to take his chance =))

Pi Hongyan was behind throughout almost the entire match. She looked very outclassed. Her normally amazing court movement was absent and she was beaten on a lot of drops from Wang Chen. She benefitted from several clears that Wang put out at the back and I'd say that made the score look less one-sided than the game seemed. I, too, wanted her to make the final but I am still glad that Jun Jae-youn took the title. I am so tired of the second three (Wang, Pi, or Mia Audina) taking any title that Zhou, Zhang, and Gong leave up for grabs and Jun needs to take those chances where she can get them.
