I was wondering if badminton players at the international level apply for sponsorships from such mega coroprations as Gatorade, Powerade, Nike, Adidas, Umbro... just to think of a few.

It would be great for the sport if such sponsors could be encorporated. It would increase prize money and recognition of the sport!

I haven´t done it because I´m still contrated to Yonex for a little more than a year. By that time it might be a good idea to survey the market!

can't you get multiple sponsorships like many other sports? Basketball players are usually sponsored by a shoe / clothing company (ie: Nike) and a drink company (ie: Gatorade). NASCAR is even crazier the drivers are covered with different decals representing different companies... NASCAR is more like a giant advertising campaign than a sport.

I am totally asking this question b/c major sponsorships will help badminton achieve a more high profile b/c sponsors add more money. When I'm older and loaded :D I want to sponsor a badminton tournament. Badminton needs more North American sponsors like gatorade, nike, ect. Just wondering if you as a pro can only have one.

it all depends on what his contract with yonex pertains to.
if the contract with yonex says that yonex decides who's bottles and shoes, and sweatbands, he uses, then thats what he uses.

its a different matter what is under the name however. such as tiger woods using ping golf grips, but having to black out the "ping" labels.

if the sponsorship contract with yonex pertains only to his racquets and shoes, then he can choose whatever he wants for shirts and such.

Do u think it is just a matter of time after which major companies[adidas,nike etc.] become more interested and sponsor more badminton players??
