Armor muscle 09
Feel and look:
Paintwise, almost identical look to yonex armortec 700/800 with blueish green shaft and armor system silvery frame.
Stiff shaft, head-heavy iso frame, long length, medium thickness shaft, small grip size.
First impression:
Really feel head-heavy. I would say very similar to armortec head-heaviness. Those looking for something similar
to yonex armortec will be pleased. Swing speed slower than nano power racket. Feel heavier(Maybe coming close to 3u) and head heavier than
nano power.
Fast Attacking Clears:
This racket head-heaviness makes fast clear not as rapid as nanopower since it is less easy to swing the head heavy frame backwards
to the ready stance position(behind body). However, executing the clear is more powerful since the head heaviness accentuates the
moment of the swing.
Defensive lifts (from smash)
This racket can provide high deep defensive lifts due to its head-heaviness. Fast rapid reflex
blocks are more difficult than nano power since it is head-heavy, cannot move it as fast as nano power.
Net pushes:
Pushes are quite good, especially aggressive ones.
Net taps:
Wristy net taps are more powerful.
Half-court smash:
This racket strength is its power. Much stronger than the nano power. Feels much greater driving force on
shuttle impact. A bit similar to Armortec 700 power. However, think needs to get the timing right and sweetspot
correct for those not used with head-heavy rackets.
Rear-court smash:
Power is definitely there, can perform jump smashes with it :)
Drop shots:
Maybe due to its head-heaviness, dropshots are bit difficult to do. Maybe not used to it yet.
Backhand clear:
Slower swing speed compared with nano power, but head heaviness compensates for it to add clearing distance.
Net play:
Ok. Not as agile as nano power. Anyway, my technique was never good at this.
Price:
Excellent. Much much cheaper than real yonex armortec.
Durability:
Still holding on. looks sturdy, stronger than the nano power.
Overall:
A racket designed for power play, haha for crazy smashing player
:) Should be used for days when you are on a "smash_crazy"
mood, wanting to wack at any shot you receive. Bear in mind,
do not try to put too high tension (24lbs+) with stiff strings(bg65)
if you are not used to it, since stiff shaft rackets with head heavy
frame have very high moment and on impact may cause
vibrations and muscle aches(try lower tension and less stiff string
like bg85 or bg66, and softer grips to dampen the vibrations)
For purely finesse playing, it is not as good as nanopower.
Good alternative
for those looking for a yonex armortec but cannot afford it. As
compared with the previous armor power apacs, from my
personal point of view, i find the armor muscle 09 more head-heavy
and more solid than the armor power series.
Btw, got my armor muscle 09 from same yahoo auction seller sportsnergy
as my nano speed racket.
The above review is my own personal point of view, that
does not mean you will agree with it or the
racket will suit u also.
