same same. ti10 with black strings is simply awesome! nevermind my lousy skills. hee hee. besides beauty, its powerful for singles and fast enough for doubles too.

(1) Power
(2) Solidness
(3) Price
At around HKD650/pc, it's a pretty good deal for the amount of graphite availble. I am not worried if I string it to 28 or 30 something pounds.

AhhH the Ti-10 (2U long), what a beautiful racquet from Yonex!
When you play with it the first time, you realize right away that its a special beast. Most of people will either hate it or love it to death.
If you read in reviews, many ppl will tell you that it takes a lot of time to adapt to that racquet. The reasons are that the shaft is longer, stiffer and it is very head heavy.
Unlike new racquets, the extra 10mm lenght is added in the shaft and not on the grip. Also, the weight of the racquet is usually felt more heavy than other 2U because of its head heaviness.
One of my favourite characteristic of this racquet is its ultra slim shaft. It lets you swing so fast whitout sacrificing the stiffness. Every shot is solid and precise. I think this racquet is made for offensive players that smash and drives alot.
The paint job on the top of the racquet is very solid. It is almost impossible scratch the paint out of it. At first I tought this racquet was very fragile because it was long and thin, but now I realize that its a very tough racquet. The only weakness of the racquet structure is the Titanium mech part.
Bottom line, I simply love this racquet for its incredible power and solid feel. Also its price is very low compared to new racquets. I wish new NS series will do a racquet similar to Ti-10 but for the moment they seem to concentrate on head light racquets and I won't change racquet for a while :(

Hi all,
Haha, Ti10 was never head heavy, got 1 too, sold my mp99 to buy one :)
G5 grip, with thin overgrip on it and string, balance pt is only 280 to 285 mm compared with other rackets 310-315 mm bp like mp88, armortec, iso900 etc... Anyone have a ti10(2u) with bp > 300 mm?
Indeed, it is powerful, not sure why. guess due to the extra stiff shaft
and thinness of the shaft.
As mentioned, takes time to get used to it. Caused lots of muscle aches
initially due to stiffness.

I have a brand new, unstrung Ti-10 here. The balance point is roughly around 294mm, which is somewhat head-heavy (but not super) :)
If there is anybody who like to use original grip only, then after adding on the string, the balance point will be > 294mm for sure.

Mine is authentic but new series made in 2004 one, if i remember correctly
By around 300mm, you mean 299 or 295mm?
I would be surprised if it can reach 300 mm since mine is a g5

i was using a proace thunderbolt II before the ti10. ti10 is really nothing compared to the thunderbolt when it comes headt heaviness. when i switch to ti10, i find it really light and first. i just got a thunderbolt( original version) this one is even less head heavy. think if you keep using a very head heavy racket, ti10 will become light.

the thunderbolt II is suppsed to be proace's armortec equivalent. not surprising. :)
just got my replacement Ti-10 just now. probably the last one on sale at the famed pertama kompleks in KL. yay! it turned out, two of my colleagues are also looking for this racket. :p

i was told the thunderbolt was out way before the armortec series came into the market. infact the guy at the shop told me yonex copied proace design here. i didnt buy from him the racket but from someone selling it cheap online. anyone can verify this? initially i got ti10 cos it is also same color scheme with the thunderbolt. but now i like the matt finish better and the paintwork is really really much better. once i played double with a fren who just got some clone rackets and first time using it. we happened to clash our rackets. mine was ok without even a scratch. ;)his had a big chunk of paint chipped off!:crying:

seem like ti10 is most readily available in singapore. bras basah, queensway all here stock of the rackets. even sportslink in town has it. but for the price that they are charging, you can take cab for airport to queensway, buy the racket and take cab back to airport still cheaper. plus yuor choice of string and tension and grip!:D

Ti-10 is still my favourite! over mp99 and at700 (not here to stir any debate), though my skills sucks!
have 2, one 2ug5, and the other 3ug4. greatly prefer the 2u version, coz the feeling of smashing is sooooooo shiok!
maybe will buy a 2ug4 in the near future, coz i prefer to standardise my racquets to g4 grip.. hahaha

I had used Ti10 after changed to CAB30 MS. That Ti10 3U IP was broken and honestly, I loved it in a moment time. But , I didnot repurchase the same Ti10 3U (which easily to buy at Sunrise SP's branch in HCM city). Its shaft is long,so that, I feel it is tangled in defence, especially, on the shuttle line which comes too close my body.
CAB 30 MS doesnot create that "feeling" to me, with long cone (of course, the shaft be shorter) and a bit heavy head as the Ti10 and perfectly applies very fierce smashes! It also be good in return smashes from opponents!

ever since the first time using it, i like it..., especially the POWER, mine is 3U G5, and found that the higher the tension, the better it is. started with 21lbs, now is 25lbs, with BG85 or BG66.

take a trip tp asia. in sigapore alone, there is enough Ti10 to last you the next ten years!!!( assuming you dont break more than 3 rackets a year )
funny that many overseas have said that its hard to fine. in singapore, you can buy it of the rack easily and even if out of stock, they can get for you like in 1-2 weeks the most.

when you try higher tension, should try hitting the shuttle hard and not push the shuttle. high tension needs more impact force to push the strings back but the advantage is the snap back is fast thus stuttle will travel faster across.....any way is my theory la....not to start another higher tension or lower tension more powerful thingy. guess your hand pain cos do too much pushing than hitting the shuttle.

after reading so much abt the Ti-10 I'm really tempted to try. Currently I am using the Carbonex 15 (realy old racket ), and looking for a racket that is able to give me more poewr in smashing and returning (of smash). Have tried the MP99, rite away can feel the increase in the smashing power... too bad i have no access to Ti 10 and cannot do a comparison...
i'm mostly a double player........
may i know which racket (MP99 or Ti 10) would suit me better?
Also what is the price for MP99 and Ti 10 now in S'pore? and where to get?
many thanks!

out of curiousity, are you an arm player or a wrist player?
seriously i cant tell difference between arm or wrist player. most of the time i generate power by rotation of the forehand ( think best way to compare is like turning a door knob. i find that by holding the racket loose, rotate and finish with a thight grip it generate the most power. i hope i dont come across as bragging...with this method, i find that i can clear base to base both forehand and backhand without turing the body to generate more power.
however, i still believe in proper rotation of body etc and only rely on the above when i am late tothe shuttle and can execute proper technic
i also must say that wrist is very important ppl with with good wrist play can be very very deceptive cos its hard to tell what they gonna do until they move their wrist the very last moment.
please correct me if i am wrong. would love to learn more from you guys:)

just to add that i am only a so so player and very keen to learn more. i just got my thoery of hitting the shuttle then pushing from my experience as a carpenter before. a lot of ppl drive nails into walls without success cos they tend swing the hammer hoping to use the hammer to push the nail into the wall(you get this gong sound and vibration on the nails). i can tell you that a swing -tap nail-pull back action will give you more success in driving nails(you get a short and sharp tack sound and very little vibration on the nails). its the force on impact that drives the nail in not the push.hope this make sense.....

i know this is sorta off topic...but i like the Ti-10, i have recently started using it and still trying to get used to the head heavy + extra stiff combo of the Ti-10. Other racquets i've used previsouly are AT 800 DE and CAB 30 MS...i don't have much trouble using those...however i do when it comes to the Ti-10, sometimes it seems like i have no power, while other times it's powerful.
can anyone give me some hints on how to try to get used to it faster? and how long did you guys take to get used to it?
i've only used it twice so...:o i guess i have a long way to go.

are you using hte 2u or 3u version?
anyway due to the stiffness of the racket i feel that you better power when you whip the shuttle. meaning that at the time of impact, almost all the force is already transfered to the shuttle. cos the racket will not ' flex back' a lot since its stiff.
have you try the method i discuss in the previous 2 messages?
i just like to add that i am sharing cos i find that the only way to know that i am doing it wrongly is when ppl who know the right way read it and tell me that i am wrong:crying: i quite suspect i am not doing it right cos i just cant seems to get the kind of power like my fellow players are getting.

Same for me...I have a Ti-10 2U but I can't generate the full potential of my racquet.
I read responses where sometimes it can produce such great smashes and sometimes it's just weak...that describes my problems really well. Although, I don't have much strength, I know I can produce a better smash with this racquet but I'm not quite sure about the proper technique in using this racquet.
I have actually adapted to doing a lot of drops (cross-court as well) and works real great. Strange but true :p
Any information or tips is great. Thanks in advance.

basically anything about Ti10!
I think I'm switching back to Ti-10 from MP-99 now that I'm starting to use the Ti-10 again. I like the feel a lot, even more so than before. Even though it is a 2U which is heavier than my MP-99s that are mostly 3Us, it is not much slower yet giving me a little more power on my smashes. I used to get shoulder pain when I was using the 2U MP-100 and 2U ISO-800 Tour so I thought I am not suited for 2Us at all. However, after two sessions (2-3 hours each) of using the 2U Ti-10, I did not get sore at all. Maybe I didn't play at my full potential with the Ti-10 but I feel sore (general muscle sore all over) the next day when using the 3U MP-99s. I think it is due to the fact that I have to swing faster/harder since they are 3U racquets. I think I'm going to try to play much as 5-6 hours a few more sessions like when I do with the MP-99s and if I don't get sore as much as with the MP-99, I'll grab a few more Ti-10s. I really hate to leave my family of MP-99s in storage though.
Yeah, so just because you don't like a specific weight of a racquet doesn't mean you should elimate the other racquets of that weight for you may find that it suits you better like in my case. I play doubles most of the time unless there are not enough people for a match, in which case I will just do drills or singles, so I thought the 3U MP-99 would be better for me than the 2U Ti-10. The Ti-10 just feels right with the right amount of stiffness and head-heaviness. I wonder if I will get the same result with the 2U MP-99 CP which still needs to be strung.

I love my Ti-10. I have MP-77 (1), Cab30MS (2), NS8000 (1) and TI-10 (1). I have 2 more Ti-10 in the group order initiated by bluejeff. Ti-10 is by far the most powerful racquet I have played and once I played I can't leave it along. My favorite is definitely Ti-10.

You can equate a Ti 10 to the 44 Magnum pistol that packs a wallop but takes time to get used to. In my case, it took me about 3 weeks. However, once you've learned to play with the Ti 10, you'll simply fall in love with it - HARD. Other racquets will not easily measure up to a Ti10.

Yes, I dropped the 2U Ti10 for the AT800-OF, then NS8000 then SOTX Woven 8 and 9. The reasons why:
2U Ti10: great attacking racket but defense is weak, relatively speaking. Also as I play more advanced players, they attack faster and I need a more mobile racket.
4U AT800-OF: durability problems, chipping, cracks, handle comes loose or breaks.
3U NS8000: not as stable nor as powerful as the SOTX Woven rackets.
SOTX: Woven 9 for me is the ideal balance between attacking and defense. If I need more defense, I go with the Woven 8. If I need more offense, I go with the Woven 7.

have you tried the 3u version. i started w 3u version, loved it then bought the 2u version thinking that i can get more atteacking power. but i suffered in defense and though i try to get use to it, i can really feel the difference which switching in between the 2u and 3u version. maybe you ought to try the 3u version. Yes, I had four 2Us and two 3Us. I agree with your findings. The 3U is better at defense but lacks power compared to the 2U.
I'm using the SOTX Woven 7 now, which is as powerful if not more powerful than my 2U Ti10s. The defense of the Woven 7 is like the 2U Ti10, weaker (relatively speaking) but I'm adapting... :D

And Ti-10 did it just what I wanted, for so many years.
Will never buy any other racquet than this.
But only thing, too powerful it is. Hard to control, it can be.
More training and discipline I need for me, to control this powerful baby ....
Much much more for me learn from this racquet...

Ti-10 is definately not an easy racket to use. During normal games, it does takes alot of energy from you. The game is definately getting faster and of course i'm not getting faster either. After trainning of practicing with ti-10. You will find other rackets is much easier to use as well. But of course we can still use ti-10 for our normal game. It depends on each person's preference.

Could not agree with Ants more. I do similar thing - using Ti10 for practice as it could help to build up your arm power and strength. To continuously hold up a Ti10 on a frame-up attacking position on net interception practice is quite a demanding task. But when it comes to actual match play - I prefer to switch to either my SOTX Woven 8A or Kason TSF 109, both will provide easier swing.

You can check it out in the thread http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15401 . Or from what I know the cheapest one in Singapore is S$150 in Sembawang shopping centre. Not too sure about that, but you can check it out in the thread above. My dad is in Abu Dhabi. He told me it costs 220 Dirhams there, which converts to S$100-120.

Hi. I wanna buy a Ti-10. Last time I used to play with my friend's Ti-10 2U and I felt it was really good. It was the most 'feared' racket in our group. Anyone who used it for games was considered potentially 'dangerous'. :D
But that was a 2U. I'm wondering if a 2U performs better or a 3U. I know that a 3U is more manuerable and a 2U is more powerful. So each one has it's own plus and minus. I wonder which one, the 2U or the 3U, wins over the other. Could someone give their views on this?

2U Ti-10 is a great training racquet and if i'm not tired, i can generate more power from 2U.
In the final analysis, since Kaizen plays competitively in Singapore 'A' Division boys, where the pace of the attack is faster, definitely 3U is preferable for better defence. But you can still train with a 2U since the transition to 3U is quite easy.
But I'm wondering, since Kaizen, you use NS8000 / AT700. Why not stick with those? At the recent Cheers international junior tournament, i didn't notice a single player with Ti-10. The most common Yonex racquets used seemed to be AT700 and MP99.

Hmmm..Thanks for your view. I have been wanting a Ti-10 since 3 years ago, but have not been able to own even one at all. The Ti-10 which my friend had was very favourable. I liked it a lot and it was my favourite racket until NS8K came into my life. So Ti-10 has moved to second spot. However, I'll never let go the chance to own one. Now I'm looking for a racket pertially as a back-up for my NS8K and partially as a replacement for my broken AT700. So, I was considering a Ti-10, given that it's my second favourite racket. But the Ti-10 and the NS8K are totally different except for their shaft stiffness. So it wouldn't make a good back-up for my NS8K. And from what you have said, I think I would drop the idea of buying the Ti-10, at least for now, and buy another one as I've got to give more importance to tournaments. But I'll buy a Ti-10 for sure, probably after the tournaments, after I've got enough money.
Thanks for views again. See you around at BC.

Hi guys,
I finally got a new racket, and its a New ti10. Its a gift from my gf. I know i am blessed.:D:D
But well, back on track, the purpose of this thread is to inquire the specs of the new ti10. I have searched through the forum and cant seem to find one solid stand.
May i know what is the exact specs of the ti10? I have heard from people, that it is a balanced, flexible racket. But the specs on Yonex prove otherwise. Some people claim that the new ti10 has became a defensive racket, but on the other hand, if i had not remembered wrongly, FHF achieved his world fastest smash record with the new ti10. If ti10 is a defensive racket, Why would an offensive player like FHF use a ti10?
Does anyone know where i can find a website to look for the specs? Ti series dont seem to be in the yonex official websites.
Will try to upload my ti10 soon, hope u guys can ans my qns.:)

I just tried my first Ti-10 racquet yesterday.
Switch from Nanospeed 9000X to Ti-10.
My review
Pros: awesome racquet head speed when swung overhead...feels like a tennis racquet...has its own momentum. Great smashes and clears are generated. Baseline shots are easy with this racquet. The super slim stiff shaft coupled with the heavy broad racquet head is responsible for this great swing.
Cons: Repetitive smashes with this racquet causes tennis elbow and shoulder pain...just like in Tennis. This racquet feels heavy compared to the Nanospeed or armortec series...eg 3U versions. Need to carry weights to strengthen the shoulder areas first before playing with this racquet.
Trade off: Limit gameplay to 1 hour instead of 2 or 3 hours. The racquet has great power but can be very tough on the shoulder/elbow.

Added a Yonex Ti-10 SP today to my arsenal
It's a 3U G5 version - just the thing I was looking for.
Strung it with Yonex BG66 at 26lbs (1 notch down from my usual).
Added a cloth overgrip (a towel grip) but took it off after a few hits.
It now looks weird... with little tufts of yellow still stuck to the handle :p
But, thanks to Pacific's glue, it's now quite tacky :D
The original grip is good enough if your palm isn't extra sweaty (and mine is :o).
For comparison, I used another three racquets:
a Yonex MP-99, a Yonex AT-800 and a Yonex ArcSaber 7 - all at 25-27lbs.
The Ti-10 is the longest racquet among these.
The extra length comes from the shaft, which is almost an inch longer than that of the others.
In terms of transfer of power, the Ti-10 is way ahead of the others.
Even a 'relaxed' smash produces a gigantic punch
(As Badmintan pointed out, it 'has its own momentum'.)
However, when hitting really hard, the MP-99 draws abreast.
Players who prefer long swings aren't going to pleased with the Ti-10.
Whip it down... and you can feel the head slam into the shuttle.
Swing it down... and it feels like hitting with a plywood cutout :(
Gracefully curving drops are best not attempted with the Ti-10.
It has no patience for delicately sliced stuff... forceful is the keyword here.
Tapped drops, hard slices and half-smashes are your lethal weapons.
And when you get bored with the rally, just switch to the full smash
For pure control, the Ti-10 lags behind the ArcSaber 7 and the AT-800.
And although it feels stronger in flicks and clears, it seems wanting during parallel drives
The same effort produces a cracking drive from the MP-99 and the AT-800.
When blocking or lifting smashes, the Ti-10 is nearly as responsive as the ArcSaber and the AT-800. But don't try too many spinning netdrops - with its taut feel, you're more likely to lose points than win them :(
I'm posting this after a three-hour session (played eight 15-point games, six of them with the Ti-10) - and I neither feel sore nor have any aching muscles :)
In essence, get the Ti-10 if you're looking for a racquet great for that desperate last-second return, flicks, hard-slices, deceptive punches and, you bet, killer smashes! ;)

wilfredlgf

The old 2U is durable enough that an owner of the racquet's son uses it as an ice hockey stick.
I had quite some racquet clashes down the years, actually half-sat on it once by accident (good thing I didn't just crash down - stood up after realising there's a racquet there), left it in the car in the hot weather a few times due to my forgetfulness and I can say that *touches wood* it's still in good shape, with the expected paint chips and scratches.
If you're a defensive player, it sucks. If you're the power hitter offensive player, this thing is like Thor's hammer - mythical.

Owned the old ti10 but it was a 2u. From my memory I can say that it can punch a good smash as at500. Although it is a 2u, it is quite manoeuvreable. A 3u would be a dream.
As for the new ti10, it is 3u and very manoeuvreable.
From these circumstances, the NEW ti10 to me is much much better than the old one :).
Oh! Another thing. There's no racquet IMO that can match the durability of the old ti10. The hardest clash that I had didn't even produce a chip to it but crushed my partner's racquet. You get the picture?

---->8---- cut here (include this line) ---->8----
racket model: Yonex Ti 10 Long Sp
shaft serial: 3951120
cone code : 010826SP
source : Bought it from a local pawn shop
price: 10 USD + 1 credit card fee
---->8---- cut here (include this line) ---->8----
Initially i was looking for jack stands for my car and was about to leave when my friend started to deal over a set of dvds he wanted, but then in the corner i saw the Yonex bag with Titanium embroided on it and my heart jumped...I asked to see it and it was low and behold a genuine (still needs to be determined) Ti10!!! OMG, i had to keep my
excitement down so that they'd value it low. :) woohoo, it turned out to be a 2U G4, and I have my gf's 3U G4, so i figure now i have two i can switch between in case i feel like having a smash fest

Bought one more Ti-10 today ;)
Intended to hold the money for the ArcSaber 10...
...but bought the Ti-10 after noticing the Yonex code on the one I picked up.
The first one I bought had 121178.
This one had the number 121278.
So... bought it! :p
Strung this one with BG80 at 27lbs and played tonight.
I must repeat that, in all, it's a superb racquet :)
how much for your latest ti-10.

Have to give this info :
My brother is a good player with an explosive smash using mp66. After all his mp66 is broken, he switched to low end armortecs and also pro ace racquets . But all those other racquets could not give him that explosive mp66 smash. Since ti10 is a great racquet to me and hoping that he got back that explosive smash, I gave him a ti10 as a present.
But after a week using it, he decided to give it back to me because he was uncomfortable with it and losing games. I also observed that the explosive mp66 smash is still not there.
The only explanation that I can figure out is that, it is because the mp66 is flexible and ti10 is stiff while both being headlights.
So it seems that the ti10 does pose problems for some strong smashers after all.

They are both the new model - except that one is yellow and the other is purple.
Some insist that the old one is better.
Well, why on earth would Yonex offer a new, worse model?
To me, the new one is better, if not a great deal better.

stiffness between Ti-10 vs Ns9000 vs AT700
Ti-10 (yellow) = NS 9000 > AT 700
that is my personal feeling.
My feeling Ti has the same stiffness with NS9k, while at700 is less stiffer.

The yellow Yonex Ti-10 has the phrase 'High Modulus Graphite' (HMG).
The purple Yonex Ti-10 has the phrase 'Ultra High Modulus Graphite' (UHMG).
Perhaps the extra long phrasing will be comforting to some players.
I have both the models... and I often switch racquets during play.
In my opinion as a user, they are both just the same thing ;)

I've been using my Ti-10 (yellow) for a couple of months now, and I must say, It's quite difficult to get used to...compared to the old Black-Red one. there are days when using it is a nightmare, timing is off, shots are predictable ..etc but then there are days when it's a beast, like every stroke is a winner..then again, it might just be me :crying:
I can't quite wrap my head around it, but it seems to me the Yellow Ti-10 is more even ended than the original, but it just feels weird holding one then the other, because even though they're "supposed" to be the same racquet I can't help it to feel a bit of difference in the balancing of the weight throughout each racquet.
But the thing that confuses me the most is the stiffness of Ti-10's, in general. The original Ti-10 was extra-stiff, but it seemed to get less and less stiff the more I used it, maybe it was just the natural wear and tear of graphite. But the new yellow one seemed to be medium-to-stiff all along, so my question is, are they the same stiffness to begin with? Some guy I talked to said that the yellow Ti-10 is too flexible compared to the old one..so i don't know.

as i know, the black red ti10 and the purple ti-10 r basically the same racket, with slightly lighter head and stiffer shaft, which is excellent for netplay(especially), dropshot n lob. the yellow white ti10 is head heavier n less stiffer compare to its 2 bros, which is good for smashing. i have 2 yellow white(1 down recently, after jus 2 mths), i feel it is like a whip when smashing(i love tat) n i tried the purple, not tat good in smashing but good in other aspect, mayb better.
i hope my thinking is correct bcoz i saw fu haifeng(china) n tan boon heong(mas) change from purple to white yellow during matches. they r both heavy smashers

yea, i think for the yellow and purple Ti-10's Yonex focused more on making Ti-10 a more versatile racquet, based on offense and defense, I agree, that the old Ti-10 is better for offense, but I think the newer models sacrificed some of that raw power for defence.

After a 2 week break from badminton I was playing like crap with my AT700 and it felt too slow and hard to use (my technique probably got really bad). I switch to Ti-10, and it felt so much easier to use, easy power, light and fast. Ti-10 really a very forgiving racquet and easy to use if you have decent technique. That being said, I switched back to At700 later on and was doign fine.

For the first time, I was able to use a Ti-10 yesterday. My first impression was that it was very forgiving, smashes were very solid, easy to maneuver and control. How was the smashing and defensive ability of TI.10 compare to AT900T?
From the scale of 1-10, what are the scores for both rackets in regards of power and defense?
Was your TI.10 and AT900T both in 3U? What string and tension did you use?

I remember you :D, you were the one who kept on suggesting that I choose the AT900T against all the other rackets.
OK, Both rackets are 3U, Ti-10 ( purple ) is in G4 with BG85 @ 28 lbs. My AT900T in G5 was coincidencely with BG85 @ 28 lbs (as to BG80 & BG66 strings were out of stock :(). Ti-10 has a longer shaft compared to AT900T, I think that makes AT900T stiffer than Ti-10.
In terms of POWER, I'd give Ti-10 a 9. For AT900T a 9.5. But I think Ti-10 is more consistent with power compared to AT900T. For DEFENCE, both rackets are fast, but Ti-10 felt lighter so I'd scale Ti-10 0.5 more defensive than AT900T.
Overall rating, I'd say both rackets are on PAR in terms of their performance.

Ti-10 is great for smashing and good for defense :D All my TI-10 (1,2,3 gen) feel almost the same, only 1st gen slighty better in smash power:) and defense too  Little bit confusing me since all people said the 1st gen is hammer and more head heavy. All gen came with same BP and same weight....difference only feel on stiffness, 1st gen the most stiff, 3rd the second and 2nd the last respectively
Comparing Ti-10 and at900T (this still my favorite and main racket) or saber 10 is unfair since each type have own characteristic. But for price/performance ratio surely Ti-10 is recommended, nice racket from YY no matter what gen you have :D weakness only in painting job, too easy to chip :(

issarakaya (http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/member.php?u=32177), since you are a long time user of TI-10, perhaps you can advise on how high the string tension can go?
The guy at PC recommended 24 lbs which I think is way too low for a racquet of this range? I went with 25 lbs.
Advise from other long time users most welcomed.

My experience in ti-10 3rd edition, is that is a very good racket. It is difficult to get used of it ( or this only my problem because i was always using armotec rackets). But when you do it is a very good racket.
I think is more an all-around racket, good in offense ( better if you have strong wrist ), in defence is good (not so good as arm900t that i was using before) the light head helps you to move the racket fast for forhand side to backhand side.
The racket is very good, i can say excelent for the price, it is a very good choise for players with good level.

You may feel this way because you probably have a 3U 1st gen.
2U Ti-10 is a beast. It is a hammer to smash. Defense is decent, but certainly slower than desired.

Totally agree.
I have a 3rd gen. Took it out for the first time today.
So didn't feel any slowness at all for defense, perhaps i'm used to even slower rackets.
But at the last round I was finally getting used to it and was having a smash fest.
Best thing is, i didn't feel any soreness. Normally i do when using my old racket or anyone of my friend's racket.
It's worth every single cent.

after buying the yellow Ti-10 and using it for a good 4 months, when reverting back to the old red-black Ti-10, the feeling is just incomparable. As of now I'm still a die hard fan of the ORIGINAL Ti-10.
The specs of it just perfectly matches up into a combination that works, its head heaviness put together with it's stiffness is great. I love the solid feel and control when hitting the shuttle.
I've tried finding replacements for it, since the original is very hard to obtain now, but had no luck. I've tried AT 900 Power, AT-900 Tech, AT-700 Limited, Ti-10 Yellow. They are all decent racquets but to me not the same as Ti-10.
Right now i'm interested in trying out the ARC 10 cause it seems pretty similar, guess i know what i want for my christmas present this year

Mine is 26X28 lbs but not too sure since the stringer using old machine (perhaps he dont calibrate often) Btw, tension is personal preference and i use BG66 Sharp....if you strung with other string type / brand tension might be different too.

I have all Ti-10 gen, and all have almost same BP and yes it head heavy....290-295 mm (empty) is consider slighty head heavy at least for me. Stiffness is different, gen 3 is the stiffest then gen 1 and gen 2 the last but all different very slighty.
The shaft say is even balance :D dont bothering that. All gen have same feel also, i strung all gen with 66 sharp at 26 lbs and i'm very sure there was no significant different feel for those three :D

It is not head heavy compared to AT 700, 900p but it is stiffer than the duo. For those who say it is head heavy, your wraist is not power enough. I can control the racket very well and dont feel the heaviness on the head at all. Maybe the 2U Gen1 feel a bit more head heavy because it is 2U. heehee.

AT900P and At700 BP is around 295-310 mm, i have at900P and BP is 300 mm (empty) but i dont use it to play since i feel the racket was lack of defense capability, i use at900T, Ti-10 and Mizuno TC700 for play and all of them is head heavy :D And for stiffness i think my Mizuno is the stiffest than all my racket and BP is 315 mm hehehehehe

i would like to ask if u have tried apacs MP90 or 95 b4 ??

I'm still a newbie here :D
and for your question i cant answer, i never tried AMP 90/95 to play yet so i cant give you detail information about that. But for swing speed Ti-10 is more faster, stiffness about the same, overall heaviness is depend on type AMP95>AMP90>Ti-10 3U. Maybe other member can help you to more detail or you can ask @Dinkalot, he have tried Ti-10 and now he using AMP 95 (if i'm not wrong :D)

Yonex Ti series have larger (wider) head frame? before, by the way I look, I always believe Yonex Ti series have larger head frame (especially width) than cab series.
Strung my ti10 2nd gen rackets the past several days. I usually strung with 25lbs, therefore, the string tension should be a non-factor. After strung, I compared the head size with a cab 8600ti and a calrton powerblade 9902. I found rackets are slightly wider than two of them.I don't think that's because I screw up the string process by putting "non enough" extra force on cross, since my ti10 are not any shorter (head frame only, measured from throat gromments to top gromments) than the cab 8600ti and a calrton powerblade 9902.
So, am I right about my previous assumption? Or, there might be structure factors involved, such as "widebody", etc?
any info please :p

Ti-10 is actually thinner than Armortec if you lay the frames out and compare. Not quite sure about the carbonex frames, but the Ti-10 is slim, like the ARC and slim10 stuff.
phaaam
01-04-2009, 01:22 AM
Then would the Ti-mesh inside the Ti-10 make up for is thin frame in terms of durability? Otherwise, it would seem illogical. Although, the risk factor of it breaking under high tension heightens since there's less material.
quik_silver
01-04-2009, 02:01 AM
The Ti-mesh is supposed to make the racquet more durable, that's why the Ti-10 is known to be a beast in durability. And because of the mesh, the Ti-10 is able to support high tension, that's why pros string it up to 30 lbs.
jk1980
01-04-2009, 10:31 AM
From what I heard, any of the higher end Yonex rackets can take up 30lbs easily.
As to the durability...
I've seen Ti-10 3rd gen broken and disfigured like hell at NVBA rubbish bin (not mine but gave me nightmare).
I know wu_kong, another forumer broke his Ti-10 (from smashing) and didn't dare to use the spare Ti-10 already...(must be damn rich to be able to buy 2 Ti-10).
So I think Ti-10 is not really all that durable...it IS stiff...which may contribute to it more easily being broken for hard smashers. It seems logical to me that a flexible shaft won't break that easily bcuz it can absorb the force of the impact.
Anyway, I can't really smash hard....yet, so I'm safe probably :).
But the paint really DOES chip of easily. Mishit shuttle also chip. Damn....
But i really love it cuz it feels great for net play. Probably because it's stiff. So very easy to control. Especially strung with a higher tension (mine's 25 lbs, not really that high i know but it's gives off a nice sound when lightly tapping the shuttle for netplay)

WARNING : Stiff racket shaft combined with high tension strings = painful arm/elbow/shoulder
Last time I also had these kind of pain. I tend to smash and stroke with wrong technique (Tennis elbow) it caused my arm to be in state of agony during smashes. But after I corrected my smashing/stroking/swinging technique, I dont feel pain at all, perhaps this is a point to look up first before blaming the racket. But if all the techniques are correct, then if you are using stiff racket, you might wanna lower the strings tension.
phaaam
01-05-2009, 12:09 AM
I think a stiff racket is more useful at higher tensions, and so it makes sense that the Ti-10 is a stiff racket and can handle high tensions just like the Armortecs. Oddly enough I strung my MP25 at 28lbs with BG65 and despite being beat and old, it withstood that tension haha. All I'm saying is, the durability of the Ti-10 is generally good but you get horrible luck sometimes and you're stuck with a double edged sword; the more smashes the more likely it'll break. I'm actually hoping to own one of these when summer rolls back around. I'd love to test it out. I might even order it online since it's already much cheaper than the other high-end Yonex.

Let's exchange racket next week and play for a whole day and see if you feel the same pain i've been feeling when i first switched over too ti-10.
Oddly enough on the same day i played, there's no pain. It's after the game, almost to the next day. Or perhaps i haven't have enough rest cuz I continued playing a few days straight with only hours of rest in between.

But comparing to AT700, which is stiffer ? If AT700 is stiffer then I think no point, last time I had similar incident which is arm muscle painful, I thot my ProAce Widebody 33 is the cause because it is a lightweight racket,so I tend to smash with more power thus giving me the pain, after switching to AT700 the pain also there until Willi@m corrected my stroking and smashing technique, the birds definitely go down to court and at the same time it doesnt feel pain in the arm at all.
BUT if Ti-10 is stiffer than then AT700 then I guess I'll give it a try ;)
Personally, I think because you really passionately playing extra hours than your arm can take thus you forgot the pain during the game and only feel it after the sessions finished :D

I think it's a combination of factors. My older cheaper racquet never caused my arm to have any pain after playing games. And it is no way near as stiff as the Ti-10 of course. But then again, I never really played so frequently before before the Ti-10. In addition my technique/stroke improved a bit from the days when i was using my older racquet.
So it boils down to the racquet + continuous stress to the muscles.
In any case, I think the pain is less now than from the first weeks.
Gradually I hope the muscles will build up to sustain these kind of impact and I'll really be able to unleash the Ti-10.
Fingers crossed...and more training.
