Expect very poor updates. The worst is on the Saturday & Sunday for the SF and F when the site minders seem all to go out for drinks of take spouses out to dinner or something. No results till the Monday following- its murder. The Qualifiers starter this morning 9 am UK time and 14 hours after we still have not a beep.
Someone from the Forum in Birmingham will be better. Let's cheer up and just take what comes. Y ;)

I doubt it, Yonex are contracted to sponsor it until I think 2010?
It is 1726 uk time now, so only 8 1/2 hours since play started, but never theless more update would be better. Also keep in mind it is only the Qualifyers today.

Perhaps someone can send them an email to buck up?
jamesd20 03-08-2005, 11:53 AM If you follow the direct links from the baofe website, then it doesnt even mention the qualifyers. My guess is they will be updated tonight, then live results start tomorrow.
jamesd20 03-08-2005, 03:27 PM Still no updates on the results site, but this story give two results. Unfortunatley it doesn't even say who gopichand lost to

seven 03-09-2005, 05:02 AM That's it, live results are finally available at this address : http://www.horizonsoftware.net/live/badminton/05engopen/main/index.php
A few minor surprises already:
Boonsak lost to Sato 3-15, 9-15!
Björn Joppien lost to Ahn Hyun-Suk 5-15,10-15
And Lee Choong Wei won in two straight over John Moody (NZL), but 2nd was 15-13! Not too impressive...
seven 03-09-2005, 06:41 AM A few big matches to come this afternoon :
Xia Xuanze vs Lee Hyun Il
Wong Choong Hann vs Jang Young Soo
Chen Yu vs Ronald Susilo
Lee Tsuen Seng vs Peter Gade
This shall be interesting...

I have to admit that the score sheet today looks pretty good :scores of several matches are being posted 'live' on one continuous page with completed match results on the right column.i.e. I take back what I said from my previous years' experience and exasperation yesterday. :p They have made huge improvements to the updates and 'live' scoring.
I understand that Hong Kong will have the SF and F live on TV on Saturday and Sunday. Good viewing to you folks. Y:)
DaN_fAn 03-09-2005, 06:59 AM aargh !!Pullela gopichand is out.!!
Lee seems to have Xia under pressure from the start... 9-3 now in 1st.
Xia Go!
whizkelv 03-09-2005, 07:09 AM Parking my eyes on Court 2, awaiting the first "European vs Asian" match for Peter Gade in AE2005.
Lets see if Li Mao can perform miracle on Lee TS. :D

other 03-09-2005, 07:46 AM Did Lee win 15-9 or 15-1 in the first game? i think it was 9....then came a couple of glitches and they messed up the score
seven 03-09-2005, 08:05 AM i think it was 9....then came a couple of glitches and they messed up the score
Final score : 15-9 15-11 for Lee Hyun Il
seven 03-09-2005, 08:09 AM The match between Chen Yu and Ronald Susilo seems to have been very tight, 17-15 17-14 for Chen Yu in 62 minutes...
seven 03-09-2005, 08:10 AM Lee Tsuen Seng vs Peter Gade starting now...
Final score : 15-9 15-11 for Lee Hyun Il
No! Xia out in 1st round!
The horror, the horror... :crying:
happy go lucky 03-09-2005, 08:17 AM oh boy, poor susilo and boonsak. 2 of my favorite players :(
seven 03-09-2005, 08:21 AM Lee TS leading 7-5 ...
Li Mao's trainings seem to be effective for the moment! :)
seven 03-09-2005, 08:23 AM Lee TS leading 7-5 ...
Li Mao's trainings seem to be effective for the moment! :)
Well maybe not... 10-7 for Gade now! ;)
whizkelv 03-09-2005, 08:31 AM Anyway, Li Mao is not with his boys in Birmingham.. thanks to some stupid BAM decision. Instead, Misbun is currently there with his 3 kids - Hashim brothers and Kuan BH.
Morten 03-09-2005, 08:32 AM setpoint for gade.. Looks like he's ready to go all the way this time
whizkelv 03-09-2005, 08:33 AM OMG, Lee TS can only play well during first 7 points. Then handed 14 subsequent points to Gade before pulling 1 point back.
1st game went to Gade 15-8
seven 03-09-2005, 08:34 AM 15-8 for Gade in the first game
seven 03-09-2005, 08:35 AM On his side, Wong Choong Hann won the first game 15-7, but is now trailing 1-8 against Jang Young Soo...
mirrura 03-09-2005, 08:36 AM wow...didn't really pay attention to Wong Choong Hann's match. Really surprise that Jang Young Soo is leading 10-1 in the second set!! Wow!!
whizkelv 03-09-2005, 08:39 AM Looks like something is wrong with Wong CH. Wonder why..
seven 03-09-2005, 08:40 AM 15-2 in the second game for Jang Young Soo!!!:confused:
mirrura 03-09-2005, 08:43 AM 15-2 in the second game for Jang Young Soo!!!:confused:
That second round defeat was really quick!! Err....hate to say this...injuries?? or ....what??
LiXiaoLong 03-09-2005, 08:44 AM May be Wong has lost his stamina. :crying:
Morten 03-09-2005, 08:45 AM 7-7 in the 2nd set looks like Lee Tseung seng has improved these months since Li Mao startet coaching. He was also close to taking Lin Dan into rubber. Choong Hann lost 2nd set to the young korean.
whizkelv 03-09-2005, 08:46 AM Seems like Lee TS is a 7-point specialist, scored 7 points so far in game 2 against Gade.
He was a great player during the 7-point system but soon faded away when IBF reverted back to 15-point system. But of course, Misbun was also the culprit to his downfall.
Our own Thomas Laybourn is cruising with Kamilla Rytter vs Roebuck/Parker... 15-8, 15-7... Good work Thomas/Kamilla!
:D
whizkelv 03-09-2005, 08:48 AM Man, if Wong CH lost this match, the Hashim brothers would have snatch his WC berth along with Lee CW. :(
And must confess I am a little pleased that my fellow countryman Rasmus Wengberg got back and won 2nd against Yamada... Heja Rasse! :D
Morten 03-09-2005, 08:51 AM 10-8 between gade and Lee. Good match for Gade in his fist round if he gets through. What is his chances for making it to the final?
11-8 for Gade now against Lee TS...
Go Gade!
seven 03-09-2005, 08:52 AM BFer Thomas Laybourn is through to second round in MX after their 15-8 15-7 victory against Roebuck/Parker. :)
Morten 03-09-2005, 08:53 AM 11-9 now.. come on gade
10-8 between gade and Lee. Good match for Gade in his fist round if he gets through. What is his chances for making it to the final?
Well, it looks doable, since he's not in the same half as Lin Dan! But in Gade's half there are players like Bao, Chen Hong, Lee Choong Wei, Roslin... All players that he is capable of beating. But also players that can beat Gade...
I'd love to see a re-match (except for the outcome) of last year's final between Gade & Lin Dan! :p
Morten 03-09-2005, 08:56 AM matchpoint. the last three points went his way very fast... does Gade spare his energy or is Lee Tseung Seng really that good?
seven 03-09-2005, 08:57 AM 14-10 for Peter Gade .....
seven 03-09-2005, 08:58 AM LeeTS closing the gap, 12-14 ...
Morten 03-09-2005, 09:02 AM scoreline seems to be stock
seven 03-09-2005, 09:03 AM Gade won 15-8 15-12
LiXiaoLong 03-09-2005, 09:06 AM First time for me to "watch" badminton live without seeing the players, but still exciting.:o
whizkelv 03-09-2005, 09:15 AM Wong vs Jang match is pretty close in rubber.
Wong CH currently leading 13-11
Phew! So Gade is through to 2nd round. There, an easy match awaits against Yamada or Wengberg... (at the moment Wengberg leads 13-10 in 3rd)
mirrura 03-09-2005, 09:18 AM Wong vs Jang match is pretty close in rubber.
Wong CH currently leading 13-11
It's 15-14 now with WCH leading
whizkelv 03-09-2005, 09:19 AM Argh... deuce in rubber.
Wong leading 15-14 now, but Jang got back the service!
whizkelv 03-09-2005, 09:20 AM 15-all!!!
Who will win??
whizkelv 03-09-2005, 09:22 AM Phew... Wong CH won 17-15 in rubber!
seven 03-09-2005, 09:23 AM Wong CH eventually won 15-7 2-15 17-15 in 1h17min !!
seven 03-09-2005, 09:24 AM Phew! So Gade is through to 2nd round. There, an easy match awaits against Yamada or Wengberg... (at the moment Wengberg leads 13-10 in 3rd)
Wengberg won that one (15-10 in the decider)
seven 03-09-2005, 09:27 AM WS first round is starting with quite a few interesting matches.
Eriko Hirose vs Tracey Hallam should be a very interesting encounter...
Who do you think will win that one?
seven 03-09-2005, 09:29 AM Anyone noticed Sudket Prapakamol and Saralee Thungthongkam are getting thrashed by Tsai/Cheng (15-4 6-2 for Taipei at the moment!!)
Tsai/Cheng had already beaten Zhang/Gao last year if I remember correctly...
SmartCivet 03-09-2005, 09:30 AM WS first round is starting with quite a few interesting matches.
Eriko Hirose vs Tracey Hallam should be a very interesting encounter...
Who do you think will win that one?
I lay my bets on Eriko Hirose!
happy go lucky 03-09-2005, 09:32 AM barely  He needs to buck up NOW or he wont go far in this champioship. I hope he has enough steam for his next match.
This is really exciting and it is only the 1st day :D
Phew... Wong CH won 17-15 in rubber!
whizkelv 03-09-2005, 09:32 AM Yeah. I'll go for Park Joo-bong's girl as well! ;)
Wong CH eventually won 15-7 2-15 17-15 in 1h17min !!
WCH is definitely NOT showing good form.
I think he will get toppled by Chen Yu later tonight.
:(
By the way, I just noticed that the matches are already more than 90 minutes behind schedule!
I guess the organizers didn't expect so many long and even 1st round MS matches...
seven 03-09-2005, 10:08 AM Anyone noticed Sudket Prapakamol and Saralee Thungthongkam are getting thrashed by Tsai/Cheng (15-4 6-2 for Taipei at the moment!!)
Tsai/Cheng had already beaten Zhang/Gao last year if I remember correctly...
Sudket and Saralee finally won 4-15 17-14 15-11! :p
ditorajo 03-09-2005, 10:10 AM Man, if Wong CH lost this match, the Hashim brothers would have snatch his WC berth along with Lee CW. :(
What's wrong? They are also Malaysian.
seven 03-09-2005, 10:32 AM Yeah. I'll go for Park Joo-bong's girl as well! ;)
Seems correct, 11-0 5-4 for Hirose ....
seven 03-09-2005, 10:34 AM What's wrong? They are also Malaysian.
The number of players per country is limited in the WC, so all malaysian MS players are in competition...
seven 03-09-2005, 10:36 AM Seems correct, 11-0 5-4 for Hirose .... Time to write this and Hallam was leading 10-5 , now 8-10 Hirose coming back...
seven 03-09-2005, 10:37 AM Time to write this and Hallam was leading 10-5 , now 8-10 Hirose coming back...
11-8 for Tracey Hallam in the second game. One game all.
wirre 03-09-2005, 10:57 AM Looks like Tracey Hallam is turning it around, now in the lead in 3rd 7-6
/ mats
seven 03-09-2005, 11:01 AM Looks like Tracey Hallam is turning it around, now in the lead in 3rd 7-6
/ mats
8-7 for Hirose now, this is very tight... :)
seven 03-09-2005, 11:03 AM 8-7 for Hirose now, this is very tight... :) The live scoring seems to be stuck!
wirre 03-09-2005, 11:05 AM And now Hirose is back in the lead 8-7 with serve.
Think the graphics quite good on the live update, notice it shows who's got the serve with a shuttle to the left
seven 03-09-2005, 11:06 AM Not stuck finally.
9-8 for Hirose, we've lost the information of who's serving though... :(
andymcg 03-09-2005, 11:12 AM 11-9 to Hirose in the 3rd set I think!
wirre 03-09-2005, 11:12 AM And the rubber goes to Hirose 11-9. Exiting game I must say, especially when you don't actually see them play.....
Brave_Turtle 03-09-2005, 11:13 AM Yup Hirose Won!
seven 03-09-2005, 11:16 AM That's another big win for Eriko Hirose!!
She will normally be against Maria Kristin in the second round, then Yao Jie in the third round.
A quarter final is possible...
ctjcad 03-09-2005, 12:44 PM Whew, Nova WIDIANTO&Lilyana NATSIR survived a close one against Anthony CLARK&Donna KELLOGG winning 2-1..
For a moment the score was stuck there at 9-13 in the 3rd set(Clark/Kellogg) advantage..
Yah, the matches are running quite late..even the last MD match is scheduled at 10:40 pm?!?!..And with the delay, the last match could start @ close to 12 pm!!..
cheongsa 03-09-2005, 01:09 PM No Singapore players will survive past the 1st round... :(
Okay, maybe Jiang Yanmei/Li Yujia will, but not past the 2nd round then :( :(
Too bad coach Li Mao is not with his guys for this all England. I think he should have been with them for his first stint with them.
jamesd20 03-09-2005, 02:25 PM A Ghaffar (ENG) Bt D Palyama (NED) 10-15 15-13 15-12
he beats a seed again in 2nd round (last year it was bao), then he lost to susilo in third round. Who does he play next?
Johnassen taken to three by sato (conquerer of ponsana) (he was leading 7-6 in 2nd set, and lost 15-8!! 1-0 down in decider
Chen Jin going to three against ahn (Korea)
LCW comfortably through against Kendrick lee 15-8 15-9
Kendrick is out.. too bad for the Sporean. LeeCW will either face Kuan beng Hong or Boesen.
this match is interesting.. Kenneth Johanssen vs Shoji Sato of Japan.. each took one set.. now in rubber game and Shoji Sato is leading. Kenneth is a fighter.. i'm sure he will bounce back.
Konnichiwa 03-09-2005, 02:51 PM Shoji is up 14-10 as the live score says!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! go shojiiiiii
other 03-09-2005, 02:51 PM looka like chin jin is going out...7-14 down in rubber set

Brave_Turtle 03-09-2005, 02:52 PM OMG Kenneth losing... match point...
Pingo 03-09-2005, 02:55 PM What a day for Shoji Sato! He's beaten Boonsak and Kenneth Jonasson and he's playing a doubles match 1.5 hours after beating Jonasson. Hope he'll be too exhausted to fight the Thais :p
jamesd20 03-09-2005, 03:02 PM Chen Jin out to Ahn.
Biggest surprise for me today is Jonassen!!
Bao Beat Wacha easily 8&4.
flamingjam (BFer)and anyone else there today will have had good Value, three high quality singles games 80mins each!!!
jamesd20 03-09-2005, 03:08 PM Man this is a great day. Look at the list of players waiting to come on:

Chen Hong (2002 AE winner)
Li hyun il (errr...!)
Wong choon hann (commonwealth winner, WC runner up)
Gade (1999 AE winner)

Roslin and Kuan beng hong up in their 1st sets as well.
other 03-09-2005, 03:10 PM flamingjam (BFer)and anyone else there today will have had good Value, three high quality singles games 80mins each!!!
hehe...:) this day is really turning out to be good for spectators...all 6 courts in continuous action
Sato is playing next on court 5...and that's a doubles game currently 6-4 in the first set, so he may have a good 30-50 mins to rest....what a good opening day for him!
other 03-09-2005, 03:12 PM How about that for a line up. Next year I am taking the week off!
plus tickets are cheaper! now...just have to figure out how to stay in birminghan for so long....:(
Kuan Heng hong won his match against Anders Boesen.. i can say it was his best play so far.
jamesd20 03-09-2005, 04:10 PM Lee hyun il cruising against Park.
Gade hammered wenberg 1&3
Lin dan also cruising, Hafiz stuttering a bit against zweibler, but 11-8 up. Roslin and Shon through in straight games.
Charmane Reid is still going according to live score, but she won the first two sets 11-6 11-3 and is down 12-10 in the third.
jamesd20 03-09-2005, 04:12 PM Reid lost 13-10 in the third.
Chen hong on now, and Intresting match between WCH and Chen Yu. Wong had a three setter earlier, but Chen does not have good records against top players.
ploppers 03-09-2005, 04:16 PM Lee hyun il cruising against Park.
Gade hammered wenberg 1&3
Lin dan also cruising, Hafiz stuttering a bit against zweibler, but 11-8 up. Roslin and Shon through in straight games.
Charmane Reid is still going according to live score, but she won the first two sets 11-6 11-3 and is down 12-10 in the third.Uhh...if she won the 1st two, y play a three?
jamesd20 03-09-2005, 04:27 PM Uhh...if she won the 1st two, y play a three?
those were my thoughts initially, but on the results side it shows she lost the 2nd 3-11. Tough game though going 80mins against a quality, although not world class, opponent is good.
jamesd20 03-09-2005, 04:31 PM hafiz through comfortably in the end.
Chen Hong at 14-11, Lin 1 game up, 6-8 down in 2nd against odeum.
sato is on for his third match of the day!
other 03-09-2005, 04:33 PM as per usual, chen hong isn't really battering past the early rounds as i would expect the former world number 1 to..oh well...
lin dan is trailing in the second set:D
and the english top MD pairs are doing well, on neighbouring courts, both about to wrap up the first set:)
--------------
lin dan is 1 set all with oedum:eek:
ha...15-7 6-15...lost by less than he beat oedum in the first set:eek:
jamesd20 03-09-2005, 04:39 PM lin going to rubber set. 15-6 in 2nd to odeum
WCH 5-0 up, as expected, though I expect Chen yu to get a few points back later, WCH always goes out fast.
cooler 03-09-2005, 04:40 PM Charmane Reid is still going according to live score, but she won the first two sets 11-6 11-3 and is down 12-10 in the third.
why the 3rd game when she (CR) won the first two?
oops, nevermind
jamesd20 03-09-2005, 04:41 PM Who is the ENG pair MD playing the NZL pair?
I have never heard of them.
jamesd20 03-09-2005, 04:41 PM Cooler:

those were my thoughts initially, but on the results side it shows she lost the 2nd 3-11. Tough game though going 80mins against a quality, although not world class, opponent is good.
ao314 03-09-2005, 04:48 PM Lin Dan having trouble against Kasper OEDUM (http://www.worldbadminton.net/portal/desktopmodules/biography.asp?pnumber=9570)
15-7, 6-15, 1-3
jamesd20 03-09-2005, 04:49 PM Upset coming? oedum (correct spelling this time!) 3-1 up in the third!
Chen H leads 9-7, and WCH 9-5.
Poor laybourn, he is last game on, scheduled for 2250, they are about 1 1/2 hours behind, he may not start till after midnight!! Better than playing 3/4 matches tomorrow with his mixed as well. :( Good luck!
other 03-09-2005, 04:51 PM ahhhhhh 4-1 up now:(
chicteenager 03-09-2005, 04:55 PM Go WCH...you can do it..
jamesd20 03-09-2005, 04:55 PM 8-4 up now.
Overconfidence and toying with his opponent is Lin's weakness. However it stops his rivals seeing his playing weaknesses, because if you play your best every time then people can see your weaknesses, and learn to combat them.
14-12 to WCH against CY
Chen hong through 11&10
Archer/Clark lost 2nd set to swedes!
Sato losing:(
chicteenager 03-09-2005, 04:56 PM Yeah, WCH won the first game..15-13
chicteenager 03-09-2005, 04:57 PM Ooo..Lin Dan only leading by 1 point..8-7
Morten 03-09-2005, 04:58 PM nice work Oedum..some months ago he quited the national training and concentrated on his study.

Lin Dan probably screwing around and not playing seriously. i saw he did that to Boesen once. this guy needs to learn his lesson... definitely deserves a big whack in the head by Li YB.

that's true..im not the only person who watches his previous matches;)
WCH takes first set 15-13..blair and robertson come back and take the second set from 6-3 down...
mm..sato's marathon first day comes to a rather quick end..LD is 12-7 up, should be able to wrap it up:)
sigit and chandra are up agaisnt a french pair...mm..wonder how quick these guys will take seeing as its getting close to bed time:D

Morten 03-09-2005, 05:06 PM I think and hope that Gade will teach little Lin Dan a lesson if they are going to meet in a rematch. Lin needs some sportsmanship, but Oedum is not unknown, he has before troubled great players into three sets. Almost a player like Saurul from Malaysia
hcyong 03-09-2005, 05:30 PM Wong CH beat Chen Yu. At one point, he was losing 10-6 in the second, but apparently he stormed back to win 15-10 to advance to the third round.
It has been a very good day for Malaysia. Barring any upsets later in the night/early morning, only Lee TS went out, and event that went down fighting against Peter Gade. There is no need for a 6-month probation. For me, I think he has shown his commitment and determination.
I was checking on the XD event and only just realised that Koo/Wong did not participate. But actually, they don't have to. Qualifying for the World Champs is not a problem for them at all.
hcyong 03-09-2005, 05:42 PM A very good day for Japan as well. Hirose was troubled but still advanced. Yu Hirayama defeated Chen Li, making a further statement for the Japanese ladies. But the outstanding player must be Shoji Sato. Defeating both Boonsak and Kenneth on the same day, and both are supposedly on form, is a great feat that even the topmost players will be proud of.
hcyong 03-09-2005, 05:46 PM About 15 mins to midnight now, and the last match is being played. At the same time, an exciting battle between Bach/Gunawan and Kidho/Setiawan. They are tied 1-1, the score being 15-13, 13-15, the Indons drawing first blood.
chicteenager 03-09-2005, 06:13 PM Howard and Tony won the last game by 15-5. Well done.
krantikt 03-09-2005, 07:02 PM by any means, is this telecast available in the US. I mean either thru live feed on the web, or thru some PPV on dish ??
If not it might be a good business for someone in their respective countries to provide live feed of the matches and charge some fee.
ctjcad 03-09-2005, 07:02 PM wow, Tony and Howard were able to survive their match in 3 sets. Their next match against Candra/Sigit should be a pretty good one; ex- teammates playing against one another.
Win or lose, they'll have some needed experience playing in big tournaments in their preparation for the WC, esp. for Howard Bach.

with all due respects to Bach, but imho, it would be an awesome sight if the 4th person is Halim instead. ah. the good old days...
scchang 03-09-2005, 08:07 PM Like THE 2001 AE final? :-)

yes. that was an awesome match. :)
Joel_y 03-09-2005, 09:37 PM yes. that was an awesome match. :)
Yes, I consider this is the best MD match ever. :)
happy go lucky 03-10-2005, 02:24 AM Too bad, Kenneth Jonasson lost. Now that he is gone, i see a quarterfinal matchup between WCH and Hafiz Hashim. I hope WCH does not delibarately lost to Hafiz Hashim, due to the latter's low ranking. Ok i could be wrong, we shall see ;) Wong CH beat Chen Yu. At one point, he was losing 10-6 in the second, but apparently he stormed back to win 15-10 to advance to the third round.

Though they are still rather young (21 or so), they are the new french national champions and they are a good pair for future...
Apparently they didn't manage too badly only losing 15-10 15-3 to the great Candra&Sigit!! :)
