have checked the net but Metro Sports has no website. want to check their rates, sana. I have been hoping to play badminton years back but it's only last month that i have tried it and has instantly became passionate about it ;).

so, being a beginner, i want to have a formal basic training even on the fundamentals only. just a short course lang of the basics, say, for 1 or 2 days? can you inquire if Metro Sports offer such lessons and their rate/s, and SPA rates also? or maybe metro should post their rates here. its for their business advantage.

No problem. Here's the rates....

1 hour = 150 pesos
guest entrance = 100 pesos*
1 hour trainer = 150 pesos

*The guest entrance is 100 pesos; from the 100, you get 50 credits. With the credits, you can purchase anything in the club.

Yes, they do offer lessons. Just ask any club employee. IMHO I don't think that two days is enough for training. Oh yeah, you better bring your drinks there! The shop shop at the lower area sells em' at twice the price. A normal bottle of Gatorade would cost 25 pesos and it's 50 pesos there. A pack of chips that would normally cost 15 pesos, is now 30 and you get the idea... ;)

Hi, all those rates apply to both members and non-members. You just have to pay for the guest fee which is a hundred pesos. I consider it fifty though because you get to keep the other half of the hundred as credits; they just want you to spend the other half unecessarily. :p

anyways...im joe 20 years old...dont really love badminton, but i just like the competition it gives me, specially playing with intermediate level people...I started playing since i was 17 in hong kong...one summer day, me n my friends got nothing to do...so we just headed to the badminton courts and just play and play...my game improved 200% and after a year i can love set them...well that was 2-3 years ago...

I've been into badminton since high school (on and off). However, considering the amount of experience, I can't say that I have already made a big leap towards becoming a level A player, as I can only say that I'm in level B or C.

Badminton is not a career for me, but it's one of the things that I enjoy playing.

I play 3 to 2 times a week.

My home court is in Club Flick, Paranaque.

I have already played at Playground and Star Smash in Alabang (no recommendations for these courts ... bad queueing if you're an outsider), Winner Badminton Club in Laguna (reccomended, nice place), Sta. Rosa Badminton Club in Laguna (highly reccomended, friendly people), et al.

I'd like to know more people from this forum.

i would love to find a group or club that can teach me more about improving my game. i've never been to any tourney but im willing to train harder than what hard gets so that i may be able to build confidence through experience and fortunately, be on the world.
badminton is such a magnificient sport. unlike billiard or boxing or other sport, we dont have someone to represent us to the world (xempre ung mga asuncion) but still, the badminton environment in our country revolve so fast. gets? it means, badminton is here to stay.
and yeah, i did not only love badminton because of the common reasons like physical fitness or time killer.

Hello,

It's been a long time since I wrote my introduction. We have in Tanay the previous Daranak Bowling Lanes converted to Badminton Court. But the most recent one is in Morong very close to the new memorial park going to Antipolo is a better palce to play. Queing every Thursday night 6pm to 10 pm. The badminton club plays there regularly every Tuesday, Wednesday evening and Saturday and Sunday morning.

Broken Ribs... because I literally dislocated two of my floating ribs (left) while playing in a tournament without any form of stretching or limbering (after not having played for almost a year).

I'm 46 years old and a former volleyball varsity player (I won't say which school, but I played in the UAAP). That means my smashes are really really hard (I'm six feet tall), but that's about it. My footwork is non-existent. I just wait for the shuttle to float up and boom! My drop shots suck. Plus I tend to swing the racket tennis-style, because that's my favorite spectator sport.

I've been wanting to go serious with this sport because it makes me sweat a lot and I get tired even while warming up and doing clears (I smoke a lot). But it's hard to find play mates in or around Paranaque (where I live).

guys, try the weekend games at bcmi (badminton central) along pasong tamo makati. usually they use the "challenge court" format, which means you can actually challenge anybody on the court. just make sure you are fit for it.

In racquetttaz, there are many players during weekends and usually a lady set-up players like q-ing in court 2 and 3. So you can come alone no issue. however in GCC, there are only seldom players during sat and they come in groups. during sun, GCC is closed until 12 since owners are taking their sunday fellowship.

My name is newton and i am only an intermediate player. I have been playing for 3 years now and started at very old age of 40. Like you when i started i played 3 to 4 times a week for 3 to 5 months i believe, and the improvement was very fast for me and within that period i was able to join the Q-ing already. You know, badminton central is the only "coach" i got and thanks to this forum i learned a lot...really a lot... from techinical, tactical, and physical. I still dont play well but i transferred what i have learned from BC to my kids and they are the "halimaws".. especially my son.

I usually play here in Gen Trias (RST) and sometimes in Bacoor (Theresian).

If you ever had a chance to visit here in cavite let me know so we can play some games.

I've worked at gen. trias sometime ago. at metrolab @ gateway manggahan gen trias. i resigned tho due to me family. but now em here at pasay city. like you i learned a lot from youtube and this site. em still looking for a trainer that can help me old bones and ligaments. hehehehe

so did your son win the game? do you have some videos of your son playing? i really want to see sometime.

my kids are the reps of our province in the regional meet. they are also participating in the national tournament like the yonex sunrise,ming ramos cup, pbars, and recently the manila li-ning tournament. My daugther is the 1st runner-up in the U15GD category recently in the lining. My son usually makes only until the R16 or Quarterfinals. I am satisfied with their play eventhough they're not yet the best in the national juniors leauge since i have just been training them for over a year now. I believe in the LTAD method of training. Have videos but no time to post in youtube. Anyway surely we will meet sometime in tourney's or other badminton events. Badminton community in the Philippines is just small and i'm sure will have time to play.

It's good that your son is also liking the sport. MY kids started late in their ages since they have other sports before badminton. How old is your son? If he will get a good coach then he will be a "halimaw" also in no time at all especially if he is serious in his training. A coach is also good so as not to get the "bad habits" as they call it here in BC when he's playing. There will be a PBars in OCt for the Final Leg, hope that you can enter your son in the tourney, i'm sure he will enjoy and will the exposure to these tournaments.

btw, yes few filipinos chat here but i'm sure many are also in the reading mode only.... :-).

Get a hold also of the Jake Downey's ebook... they are free...

Not sure what i have more but those are the first things that came to my mind...

I just started to play last February naaya lang po.

I was challenged to improve my skills when I wanted to join groups who play weekdays but was not qualified because the requirement is always to be an advance player which I understand. My goal is to play twice a week para po magpapawis lang.

So I enrolled in a badminton training last month, just to have the proper basic. I'll keep you guys posted if I get through to a group (advance level).
