This is so good.

Swiss open may not be the most prestigious tournament, but it gets my vote for the most technologically advanced by any standard.

I am going to pay the cost for watching over the weekend. This is fantastic. :)

Other organisers, please take note.!!!

Same here, that's what I'm getting this morning..Last night i actually stayed up and watch the 1st or so hour of the Qualifications(from before 3 am and watched the XD and MS only) and the connection was smooth as you can get. I got bored though as these are still the Qualifications..:).
Paying for the QF, SF, and Final days is not a bad idea, esp. to us fans here in the U.S. who lacks any connection to these tourneys.

On that note, hope next month's Japan Open won't be outdone. Heck, they're arguably one of the most technologically advanced country in the world and they can't even make something similar to this effort??...:p

i went into work and tried it again. it was going at full speed (331k/s).

Japan Open historically has been behind the times when it comes to web coverage. last year was the first year where they have live scoring. years before, some guy (BF member) was doing an unofficial site updating the scores for the web audience.

the Danes was the ones who are most ahead of times. i remember way back in the 1999 WC/SC, they were already doing live scoring via the web. i vividly remember sitting at the computer lab at school watching the numbers going up and up, jumping up at various occasions. others in the lab must think i am yet another computer nerd turned mad.

I'm getting 331k/s, and a crisp image of a guy sweeping the floor.
Apart from him the arena is deserted. :p

The live streaming is very clear, but I get a lot of bufferings, playing for a few seconds and then froze.

Will the paid streaming be smooth? I do not wish to have freezes every few seconds.

My internet is 512kps.

and of course stopped playing(it's currently almost 2 AM in Swiss right now). If you want to catch it, it'll continue again later tonight/early morning(Canada time). Check the tournament playing time, I believe Thursday they'll start at 10 AM(Swiss Time).
Good luck-

How good is the reliability of the paid version?
Any one tested yet?
Well, I guess with the paid service, you won't get, rtm version
of 'server has reached stream limit'

Should there be streaming at this time? or can I just not get it to work? do you need anything to play it besides window media player?

Mag

No, you just need windoes media player. I am watching it right now. Gade vs Ahn is on. Great quality, 291 kbps. No lag here.

Since yesterday I acn't even access the official tourno website...it's loading the page for hours and nothing is displayed..hence I can't even get to the website with the streams either :crying:

I know it worked on TUE but really it's not doing anything for me since WED afternoon (UK time)... could somebody from the UK confirm this problem?

If anybody is having trouble viewing the live streaming like I was, try using RealPlayer and copy and pasting the live streaming address into the real player address bar. Man I love it when I find solutions to problems :D. Pity I didn't do it sooner, I missed todays games

As it will, probably, be impossible to see the 1/2- and finale?!

Seen on worldbadminton.net (http://www.worldbadminton.net/Portal/desktopdefault.aspx?tabid=10&ItemID=1734) :

The Swiss are known to be well advanced in technology. They proved it once again by taking a giant step in the promotion of the game by allowing anyone with a computer to watch a live video feed of the games, from of two of the four courts. Of course, broadband access is better to enjoy the rallies fully, but with fairly high speed internet access, it is a delight to see – and hear – your favourite players from anywhere in the world, as a free service. A fee will be asked for a more professional feed with five cameras and commentary in English from Friday onwards also.
I don't know if this means that the free service will continue today or whether you need to pay to view anything...

Mag
03-18-2005, 08:14 AM
Most likely it just means that the pay service starts today.
The free service is available throughout the tournament.

Jeezzz, if they had made that a little more clear I would've bought the 2 hour Grossbild ticket. I was all ready to record the first men's doubles but now that it has already started I'm not getting that ticket anymore. Hopefully they'll meet Candra n Sigit then I will definitely get one

The paid version only broadcast 1 court, not switching allow unlike the Free version. I think the paid version is the "clip" like Free version except has score and so call commentator.

That's not all. They should have explained clearly that the paid stream was to the exclusion of the free streaming. They even had the list of upcoming matches for the day listed directly beneath the "Free Streaming" explanation and links. It says only that the free stream would be available "From Tuesday" and says nothing of "until Thursday".

It would be great if it worked. Some of us need this kind of thing. Am I the only person living in a country with no All England broadcast? I can't imagine you get that kind of thing in Canada or the U.S. Canada didn't even broadcast Olympic badminton.

You're right about the real money. Imagine dropping that much cash on a stuttery video feed!

IF you look at this page, (which, by the way, seems to be the only way to get to the updated draws),

http://www.swissopen.com/english/aktuell/wettkampf.php?showpublic=true

It says "live video" and then has this link:

http://213.189.142.100:8081/ramgen/encoder/stream.rm

I didn't try it when the matches were still on and now Real Player gives an error. Did anyone else try this link? ie Big Slick? Is this what you tried?

When the matches were actually on, I was only trying the links like

http://wms1.eurotip.tv/ch2
http://wms1.eurotip.tv/ch3

from the "Live Streaming" page.

By the way, the email address for the webmaster is info@swissopen.com

For starters, It's early morning in Switzerland right now so there won't be any games to stream live until 4PM this afternoon. If I'm not mistaken, that's GMT+1h. Furthermore, we've all found that as of Friday there were no free feeds. It doesn't say that on the website but the fact that pay-per-stream is available from Fri-Sun seems to mean that free streaming has been taken off line.
