Has anyone heard of this great British player. He's my favourite. He hit the Guiness World Records for the fastest smash at 162 mph. He currently uses the Carlton Airblade 900. He' quite a good player in my opinion. He's especially good at defence.

He snapped a knee tendon in the World Championships. This would put him out of action for over half a year.

I played him many years ago in a mxd doubles tournament!

that's cool!!! How did he play? Was he really good in your opinion? Does he still play with the AB 900? That's awesome that you got to play him.

I think Simon Archer is too old now. Players like him and Michael Sogaard will benefit from the new 7x5

Hey Byro, don't be such a killjoy! Let the guy keep his idol!

And Josh, it's too bad about Simon's knee and that he's been without a stable mixed doubles partner for a long time...

On a side note I can say that I`ve played against Simon Archer`s previous doubles partner, Chris Hunt also in mixed doubles. This was about 8 or 9 years ago and I got grannied - 15-0,15-0. Probably half of those points were from my partner and I being so nervous about playing his pair but also the power he had was awesome - if you`ve seen him you`ll know he looks more like a rugby player than a badminton player!

It was years ago back in UK.

So I go along to this Mxd doubles tournament and play against a certain S. Archer plus partner losing in 3 games. Go back to my club. They say "who you play?" I reply some guy called "Archer". They say "Archer? Simon Archer?".
I say "yeah! Like that. Who is he?"
Reply: "England junior no1."...................................It was that long ago.

Which tendon? ACL? PCL? A friend had an ACL graft about 4 months ago, and he's just now able to do some drills requiring moving from the backline straight to the net. No side to side drills yet. My wife had her ACL graft 1 month ago and began walking without crutches this week. Slowly.

Here's best wishes to Simon Archer for his recovery.
