I was going to give predictions on the HK open but i don't really know any of the players. Besides people like Indra Wijaya and Tam Kai Chuen.
But Indra Wijaya was top seed and hes out already! Ng Wei had a walkover to advance to the 2nd round. Does anyone know what happened to Indra?
I think Indra withdrew coz of injury or sth. Anyway, I juz wanted to say tt I feel really sorry for him. If my younger bro gets the better deal of everything in life, I'll positively hate him to the core.
A very sore Adel
dun think u'll be in the same position Adel,.

Maybe coz Indra is representing Singapore now?
Well i guess, but i'm the only 1 in my family who still plays badminton competitively now. My bro and sis quit. My sis plays recreationally......

Indra withdrew cos he strained his thigh muscle against Xia last weekend. What a big pity.... but I guess he had to, cos he didn't want to aggravate it and affect his performance in the next two tournaments, the Dutch, and esp. the 6* Danish Open.
And I sure hope you're fine adel....
ANy news on the HK open..

Indra had a hamstring injury which occured in the China Open, hence the withdrawal.
There are many HK players. Their results are not great but the majority are junior players given an outing for some experience.
It was wierd for me to see people I've played against in tournaments very recently now playing in a grand prix tournament! For one HK player, I accumulated more points than the Philipine player! hehehe.
Right now the matches are not very interesting and the draught is causing some players a lot problems. A good early singles match was a Japanese player against an Indian player (forgot names) in Men's singles.
I am going again tonight.
Does HK open have its own website for results update?? Thanks

I'm quite annoyed actually. Indra had a great chance to take that title!!! I guess luck just isn't on his side...... (*SIGH*)
Yup, and age is not really on his side anymore. Nowadays, badminton has evolved to such an intensifying pace, many players who are aging or who are susceptible to injuries find it difficult to cope. Perhaps Indra have to watch out during his training sessions as well, no point training too hard, then picking up an injury half way during a tournament.
Diet also plays a big part, badminton players have to be careful of what they eat. I know that the Malaysian players are always on a strict diet, since that incident when Tan Fook or Wan Wah was caught with eating 3 packets of Nasi Lemak a few years ago. I think now they have a diet program that they have to adhere to, their urine samples are taken regularly to ensure that they don't consume too much alcohol or eat forbidden foods.
3 packets of Nasi Lemak! HAHAHAHAHAHA...... =)

Hmm, that sounds really tasty.
So just a couple of interesting matches. Pardon me for any spelling mistakes.
I saw Ng Wei vs Adriansyah. Ng Wei was very patient. Adriansyah is quite an explosive player but Ng Wei could get a lot of his attacking shots back. The longer rallies favoured Ng Wei. Ng didn;t show too much variation in shots. Was this his tactics? Ng Wei rolled out a victory in 3 - 0. Pretty straightforward.
Sony Dwi Kuncoro vs Tam Kai Chuen. 7 - 0, 7 - 0, 0 - 7, 8 - 6 to Sony. A strange match! Sony started off really well. It was just amazing how fast he was. Tam had difficulties with lighting, draught and timing the shuttle as well hence the scoreline in the first set. In the third set, Sony slowed down considerably. One could clearly see breathing really hard. I was wondering if it would be repeat of the Sony vs Gopichand match in Indo Open. In the 4th set, Tam's timing was better but still not quite up to the mark. He still got game point but blew it on a cross court net shot which failed to get across the net. On another day, Tam would have clinched this return and perhaps win the match but not this day.
Ronald Susilo vs Shon Sheung Mo. Yoh! Ronald lost in the final set. We all thought he was going to win after winning the first two games 8 - 6, 7 - 0 but Shon hung in there well. the 5th set produced some entertaining rallies. Shon was still very relaxed in the 5th set patiently biding his time before getting the right shuttle and position to smash.

Oh damn.... Ronald lost?! to SHON!?! Aargh...
Anyway, Cheung, it'll be good if you can provide some info on the matches of Lee/Yoo. It might help in curing certain illnesses of the heart. =P
p/s: my school canteen used to serve delicious nasi lemak and the tastiest chilli to go with it.

Stop that!! You are making my mouth water.....
I did see the Lee/Yoo match vs Ma/Tam. The first set was close and went 8-7 to the Koreans. Ma/Tam did play quite well considering they are a scratch pair.
The higher quality of the Korean pair was more apparent as the match went on playing the HK pair around the court. There was one funny incident when the shuttle went close to the back line from a drive by the HK pair. The linesman pointed down the line and shouted out at the same time!! To his credit, the linesman quickly indicated in a second or third time depsite some aggresive posturing by Yoo. Yoo also pointed his finger in an aggresive manner to the linesman. This led to some booing from the audience. It had some effect though becasue the Koreans promptly lost the next three points!! But they regained their composure to roll out the victory in three games.
Yoo really hits that shuttle hard......
Stop that!! You are making my mouth water.....
>>>>>>>I hate Nasi Lemak (dun like coconut milk taste) but my mouth is watering as well. Basically coz the only thing I had for breakfast and lunch combined on this fine Sat morning is potato chips and oreos. SOB SOB SOB.
... depsite some aggresive posturing by Yoo. Yoo also pointed his finger in an aggresive manner to the linesman.
>>>>>>>>>Still as violent as ever. =)
Anyway Cheung, kam-sa-hamida. I would have said a lot more if I knew how to but as it is, my Korean is still in the beginning stages.
I DUN WANT TO DO MY LAUNDRY!!!!!!!!!!
Once a bowl of Instant noodles was considered a real treat.
There r students who carry boxes of them .
Maybe u should learn to eat Kimchi with them.
I've eaten kimchi on numerous occasions but I can't bring myself to like the taste at all (apologies to any Korean who is reading this).
Anyway, there are plenty of ppl in college who remind me of badminton: apart from tt guy called Kyung Min whom I've mentioned, I also saw a Chinese-American who looks like Sun Jun and a Japanese (I think) who looks like Lee Hyun Il but is built like Chen Hong.

It's good to know that you have found a creative way to maintain interest in badminton while studying fulltime :)

You are referring to Maggi Mee, right? :)
Ahh, Adel just forgot to mention:
1) Lee dong Soo walked right past me in front of my face so close I could have reached out and touched him. I thought "if I was Adel, I could easily have hugged him!!"
2) Ng Wei of HK bears a resemblance to Lee!!

Boonsak lost to SHON Seung Mo after 5 games. I've watched the games and I think he still needs more consistency.
WHAT?!!!!!!!!!! You should have hugged him on my behalf then. I'm so jealous. ARRGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
