Has anyone heard about the recent decision in changes to the scoring systems? an article that I just read indicated that after failure of the 3/5 of 7pts system, a new proposition from the chinese was accepted by the IBF.

Do you think it's true?

"An important amendment of the aiming system was adopted yesterday at the general assembly of the international Federation of badminton (IBF) which currently sits in Singapore. After the test missed by the three of five of handles of seven points, the IBF returns au.galop with a new change to the aiming system. A first proposal, aiming at making it possible to the players to make points without same having the service, was disallowed by the assembly, a majority of Asian federations having refused to support this change. However, blow of emanating theatre following a proposal of the Chinese federation: if a player succeeds in touching an adversary with the wheel, it would collect two points henceforth (or only one in the event of point of match). The Chinese federation wants to give a more aggressive image of the badminton for the next plays to Beijing. In spite of the sharp protests of the Danish delegation (whose representatives left the places with crash), the majority of associations have emboity the step and supported the Chinese proposal. In a declaration with the media, Flad Stenberg, the delegate as a chief, fears that this new payment does not harm the legendary fair play of the badminton. This new payment would come into effect immediately after the Championship of the world of August, that is to say on September 1, 2005."

but i must admit i don't understand this proposed point system.

and why does: "Flad Stenberg, the delegate as a chief, fears that this new payment does not harm the legendary fair play of the badminton" ?:confused:

Did you use a translation programme to give us that? It doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

OMG... lol now that I reread the quote, it really doesn't make much sense... hahaha....

well... basically the new scoring system has a new rule which states that if a player was able to touch (hit) his opponent with the bird, he will get 2 pts out of it.

Apparently, the reasn for the change is to give a more aggressive image to badminton.

I doubt that will happen.

I think it is an April Fool! It is after midday in UK though now!

Flad Stenberg
more fuel to the April Fool theory
I remember a Steed Fladberg (used to play with Jesper Helledie).
Maybe that's a joke on his name

Maybe that's a joke on his nameaah! so that might explain the odd line.

a rather poor joke though, if it is.

Dear All
It was indeed an April fool...
We didn't think that it would actually be translated in English and posted in this forum.
For those who don't know about Badzine, this is the new "Chain" of badminton related website.
The French version is now 2 years old (www.badzine.info) and has become the undisputed number one there. We have since launched the Canadian French Version (www.badzine.qc.ca), and soon the German version...
And to tell you half a secret, a new Website in English will follow, hopefully before the World Championships. But you will all be aware of it, as we will be working very closely with BF.... ;-)

Hong, it was indeed an April fool's. ;p

I'm the one who started it all in my website (www.badzine.qc.ca).
I then suggested Raphael to post it on his website too (www.badzine.info) to make it more realistic and - most of all - to have more fun!

Sorry, guys, it didn't work as an April Fool for me on account of the fact it wasn't half as stupid as some of the proposed changed floating around at the moment. :)
