Icuk is the director of the PBSI with tens of players under him. i would be surprised to see him leave because only one of them isn't listening (if that is indeed the case).

okay,im reading it right now, and it says that he thinks after 5 yrs, he feels that there are many things that makes him unable to function the way he was supposed to, he says that in some activities he felt like he was being left out, he thinks that his position was too limited,so he couldnt do anything about the programs and tada tada,,,also he's dissapointed becos just becos he didnt attend pbsi meeting few weeks ago about player who would be sent to sudirman cup evrybody says that its all becos ofhim that they couldnt make up the sudirman cup team, becos he actually did gave a letter to MF Siregar that he couldnt come, and (i think this one has sumthin to do with his fight against taufik) he also says that evrything about players evaluation and contract money is now in christian hadinata's hand becos heleft it to him, and he complains about how once he didnt attend a meeting evrybody makes fuss about it, while many didnt come to much more important meetings and nobody said anything, and (oh im tired, the article's quite long) also he says that he's resigning bocos he doesnt want sutiyoso to be in hard position, becos he says that sutiyoso's a good man and he doesnt regret that he had chosen sutiyoso, also becos he has 2 jobs (the other one is in the goverment(sport and youth department or sumthin)) that forced him to choose between the 2, he says he wont leave baddy tho

but still there's still no guarantee that it will be approvedhttp://badmintoncentral.com/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

yes, confirmed the news as it was reported on jawapos..Basically what aiyuww wrote was quite close to the news. It was a sudden decision and quite surprising as he just started last July. I will add a few more translation from jawapos.
Icuk cited the main reason was his feeling of unfairness he felt during the recent PBSI meeting for the Sudirman Cup team, where he was absent(as he was in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia as a delegate from Menpora-Indonesian National Sport body) . Add to that, according to him, PBSI gave somekind of an ultimatum for him to choose either to stay in PBSI or work as the Indonesian Sports Minister(he is currently holding 2 positions). Icuk said, the PBSI positioned was actually more of a volunteer, but he felt he was being overlooked and not given "full control" and wondered why he is being offered an ultimatum to choose between the two??..He said he fully support and didn't regret choosing Sutiyoso as the chairman of PBSI and will continue to support him. He also said with his resignation, it shows that he was not after the position or title. Last, Icuk said his decision is "final" as his wife and kids already approved and supported his decision.

I wasn't real surprised by the news. For some reason, the last 3-4 months seems like Icuk has been under constant pressure and his name appears on the news almost every month, and in controversies. Esp. starting from the Taufik incident, thru the national training center selection of new players and the Sudirman Cup meeting which he missed and recently the news on some miscommunications over the renovation plan of Pelatnas, which he complained it was disturbing the training program/schedule for the SC team.
Now, i wonder what will happen to his son who is now part of the training center. Is this a move by him to avoid more "headaches" and "problems"??..

Yes, unfortunately, i have a feeling there could be some politicking going on behind all of this..I will try to follow and read more on this news in the next few days..

No doubt.
Icuk is an idealist, says what is in his hart to everybody, no matter who and what he/she is. This kind of attitude is not 'suitable' for PBSI.

The management of PBSI has not yet changed, still in the old style. Lack of managent skill, there are nobody who can act as a crisis manager.
Everybody says everything, No coordination, No dedication, they do thier job with half hart, etc, etc, etc.....
Like cooler said "politic..... politic...."
It is not strange if the performance of Indo's players are going down. :crying:

There's a saying that goes 'Success begins at the top'. And as far as it goes, there's another important factor that goes into play which is called MONEY.
Talk about money, the Indonesians are quite well known as one of those countries which on the outside preached about Anti-corruption, but inside they still upheld the belief-nothing but talk, talk, talk but no real action. The going-ons in their politics, if an outsider would read, is almost "laughable". I'm not saying other developed countries do not do such things, but if PBSI wants to really and seriously be considered again, it has to make a major change. If PBSI, or the Indonesian govt. wants to get "to the top" again and "be respected", they have to really eliminate that kind of thinking and it has to start at the top/governing body.

But personally i don't know if it will happen, cos the problem is so rampant and to a certain extent, already "embedded" in their "way of life" system.

PBSI in damage control mode after Icuk's resignation Moch. N. Kurniawan, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta

The Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) vowed on Wednesday to minimize the fallout from the sudden resignation of Sudirman Cup team manager Icuk Sugiarto with less than a month before the mixed team competition.

"Icuk's decision to resign from PBSI will certainly affect our preparation for the Sudirman Cup because he was the team manager," PBSI secretary-general M.F. Siregar said.

"But now it's better to minimize the impact."

Although Icuk resigned on Tuesday as PBSI's head of development, which included overseeing the National Training Center and heading the Sudirman Cup team, Siregar said no replacement would be named until after the competition in Beijing in May.

"We will hold a plenary meeting about it and PBSI chairman Sutiyoso will give his approval afterward," he said.

An outspoken and sometimes controversial figure, Icuk was angered by a warning letter sent to him by PBSI after he failed to attend an April 1 meeting.

Icuk, who was in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in his capacity with the Office of State Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, complained that the association issued an "us-or-them" ultimatum.

"It was unfair that I was forced to either leave PBSI or the Office of State Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs because of my absence from one meeting," he said.

"Actually, I wanted to dedicate myself to both offices."

Icuk added that he was also unhappy with the limits imposed on him in his duties as head of development.

The 1983 men's singles World Champion emerged as a central figure in the country's most successful sports association last year after successfully endorsing Jakarta Governor Sutiyoso as its chief.

However, his tenure has been marked by controversy, including the acceptance of his son Tommy to the national men's training program and a public spat with Athens Olympic gold medalist Taufik Hidayat about bonuses.
