KUALA LUMPUR: Two national back-up players, Mohd Hafiz Shaharuddin and Raymond Stevon, will go for a two-month training stint at the International Badminton Federation (IBF) World Training Centres in Germany and China.
Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) general manager Ganga Rao said Mohd Hafiz would train in Saarbrueskan, Germany, and Stevon in Guangzhou, China.
They will be trained by the IBF high-performance coaches together with other selected international players, he said yesterday.
Both players will leave for their training centre in June.
IBF have another training centre in Sofia, Bulgaria and plans to open two more centres in Kuala Lumpur and Houston, United States.
On another matter, Ganga said the BAM were still searching for a high-performance coach for the men's doubles in the senior squad.
He said BAM have shortlisted candidates from China, Indonesia and South Korea.
The foreign coach will help the present team Yap Kim Hock, Chang Kim Wai and Pang Cheh Chang in handling the senior men's doubles. As Kim Hock is busy as national head coach, BAM feel that we need a high performance coach to build the men's doubles, he added.
Ganga said the name of the candidates would be made known after the Sudirman Cup from May 10-15. Bernama
