It's a matter of personal preference, really. The Woven 7 is a head heavy and overal heavy racket, and thus it's more powerful than the 9... perhaps people just like powerful rackets or something?
The 9 is more my type of racket though, as it's relatively more even balanced so it's more maneuverable and easier to deffend with.

I have both the woven 7 and 9 racquet. Woven 9 is very light and good for women, my wife uses it now. I'm not saying that it is only for women but because of its weight. Woven 7 is a heavy racquet that generates great power for smashing! But slow for defensive players. If you have that extra cash go for the woven 12 a lighter version of woven 7 but packs the same power but is lighter and faster for defense.:)

I believe Woven & has been in the market longer than Woven 9, which could be 1 of the many factors. ;)

In any case, popularity of the racket shouldn't be an issue-- of course, if you'd heard nothing but bad things about either racket, that might be a problem. But what you want to get is the racket that you feel works for you, not necessarily what everyone else is getting. Do you have the chance to try them out before you buy?
