I am. 4 of us will be leaving early morning on the 15th and leaving again early morning on the 22nd. We'll be staying at the Holiday Inn in Anaheim.

There are a group of others who'll also be coming from AZ, but I don't know when they'll be coming and where they'll be staying. I know that some will only be come for a couple of days or so.

not that i am aware of right now. but i do know that a lot of Bay Area folks will be taking the trip down, so it is entirely possible to find a ride, most people i know haven't made up their mind though.

unfortunately, i will probably be flying down as i have to work the day before and the day after. driving 6-8 hours plus LA traffic will be very unpleasant. besides, i need all the energy to concentrate on watching the matches... ;)

Aw, shucks...I'll be in LA already by that time. I'm crossing my fingers that at least they'll be broadcasting it on tv?

And yes, i'm glad you won't subject yourself to the horrible monster of LA traffic and LA drivers for that matter *shudder*

they will in ESPN2, but not live broadcast. instead a highlight.

all those who are going will have to figure out how to go around inside LA. best is to find a hotel close to the arena. the Holiday Inn w/ BC's group rate is a few miles from the arena. definitely not walking distance. but local enough so there will not be any problem with traffic.

ok. i have booked the flight! arriving 18th morning, leaving 22nd morning. i really wish i can be there the whole week, but unfortunately i have many commitments during August and regretfully i have to skip the first 3 days.

i still need to figure out where i am going to stay, as well as local transportation.

Hello BCers,

Anyone from the Bay Area/Peninsula heiding off on four wheels (driving) willing to ferry my racquets as a favour? I am planning to be at Arrowhead on two wheels (riding bici) so it will be a great help! This way I could play with the locals at some of the baddy facilities in that area. Any suggestions?

Please reply to forum.

I'll definately keep my eyes open for the guy on the bike. I'm assuming your wearing a 'LIVESTRONG' bracelet and have a Lance t-shirt! Can't have enough respect for Lance, even though apparently the chances of his genetics coming in one package are one in a billion.

Blckknght,

I have mentioned to Kwun about this on the phone last week and also talked to the SGVBC owner, Eric Mcmullin. To get the discount all you have to do is to go to the Pro Shop and tell them that you are from Badminton Central.

I'll be going to the Worlds with my dad. Anyone know the specifics of plans to play at SGVBC, who to contact for a week's pass, how to get the Badminton Central discount, all that good stuff?

Just got our tickets. I'm only going on saturday. We can't afford to see anything more. Hope to see you guys there. Look out for a tall skinny asian teen with really poofy hair. I'll be in section 225 with my dad.

alexfan90,

Hi, since you live in Fullerton, could you help with some local information as I will be staying at the Hostel there and comuting to Arrowhead pond via public transport.

Give there are some in the evning with some going pretty late, do the buses run late, I know I have two to catch one from North Harbour Boulevard to East Katella Ave, then one along East Katella Ave?

Regards

Stuart

Hey Canberra Fella,

Two ways to/for:

By Bus (OCTA)
Take 43 going to Costa Mesa (going South, the driving is right side here)
or take 47 (walking down the street from the Hostel).

Switch at either Ball St, then take 46 (going East) toward Orange, Arrowhead will be on the way.

Alternately, you may take 50 going to Orange from Katella.

Approx travel times 1 hour during good connection, 1 hr + otherwise

OCTA has Night Owl Service, also on Sundays.

Also cf: <http://www.octa.net/busrail/routes/may2005/2.asp>

By Train (Metrolink)

Walk down N Harbor Blvd to the train station (approx 1.5 km)
Take Metrolink going to San Diego, get down at Arrowhead, 2nd stop.

Last train around 8.20pm (check www.metrolinktrains.com)
