The two remaining Danes look very strong. Seems as if Gade plays well with his new racket.
Jonassen has in fact been my favourite to win after his impressive performance in Sudirman.
But Dan, Taufik, Gade and Jonassen look strong all of them.

No TV broadcast for quarter final. You may not have much luck to get the video unless someone record the show personally.
Like to see Taufik overcome quarter and re-setup the game with Lin dan at semi.

No Malaysians :crying:
This year's QFinals lineup closely matches the seedings.
MS
1 Lin v 9 Ng Wei (predict Lin 80%)
3 Gade v 8 Taufik (Gade 55%)
5 Bao v unseeded Lee HI (Lee HI 55%)
2 Jonassen v 7 Chen Hong (Jonassen 55%)
And who are the missing seeds? Malaysians Lee CW and Hafiz :crying:
WS
1 Xie v 8 Zhou (Xie 75%)
unseeded Jiang v unseeded Nedeltcheva (Jiang 60%)
unseeded Mia v 3 Pi (Mia 55%)
2 Zhang v 5 Wang Chen (Zhang 75%)
Missing seeds are Xu, Yao Jie and Hallam. WS more unpredictable than MS??
MD
1 Eriksen/Lundgaard v 5 Cai/Fu (Chinese 70%)
4 Candra/Sigit v unseeded Flandi/Eng (50-50)
3 Paaske/Rasmussen v 7 Jung/Lee (50-50)
2 Luluk/Alven v 6 Boe/Mogensen (Indons 70%)
Again the missing seed are Malaysians - Chan/Koo :crying:
WD
1 Yang/Zhang v 6 Saralee/Sathinee (Chinese 60%)
3 Gao/Huang v 5 Andersen/Schjoldager (Chinese 80%)
8 Chin/Wong v unseeded Novita/Polii (50-50)
2 Wei/Zhao v 7 Zhang/Zhang (Wei/Zhao 75%)
Korean Lees lost to Indons yesterday. I watched that match. Lee Kyung Won seems either too tired or too sick. Lee Hyo Jung is clumsy at the net; she should stay at the back where her smashes are more effective than Kyung Won. But the Indons are feisty. Reminds me of Saralee/Sathinee but a smaller version (yes, they are even smaller). If I haven't watched yesterday's match, I would have assumed Chin/Wong to win today as a given, but now I know it will be an interesting fight.
XD
1 Robertson/Emms v 6 Sudket/Saralee (English 75%)
4 Chen/Zhao v 5 Widianto/Natsir (Indons 60%)
3 Eriksen/Schjoldager v unseeded Clark/Kellogg (Danes 80%)
2 Zhang/Gao v unseeded Xie/Zhang (Zhang/Gao 80%)
Missing seeds are English Blair/Munt who lost to fellow English Clark/cereal and Koreans Lee/Lee who lost to Xie Zhongbo/Zhang Yawen

I fear there will be an all-chinese ms final -given the 2 previous disappointing finals at all -england and japan between lin dan and chen hong -there is no reason for chinese players to play at full strength and lose energy for the malaysian open - I therefore hope that peter/taufik/kenneth makes it to the final

thats sooo amazing, if anybody saw the time they'd expect a 3 setter, but 2 games in 96 minutes is just crazy! must be some sort of record for longest straight games win.
Taufik and Gade always have good hard matches. both have so much natural talent, Gade's experience makes up for Taufik's speed and fitness..
i doubt taufik will be in a fit state to take on lin dan now. we'll see..

Well, matches like that (Taufik/Gade) is as close as you can get to a "draw" in badminton. ;) But, of course, one player has to win. And that match wasn't broadcasted -- it just makes me soooo frustrated knowing that I won't get to see it...
Regarding the WD whitewash: Gao/Huang did NOT meet a world top 5 pair, mind you. Mette/Brita is a new constellation formed after Rikke Olsen quit playing internationally recently. This was their first tournament together. Still, 0 and 0 is pretty heavy... It's a result that's *very* rare, especially in doubles. I guess it shows how few mistakes Gao/Huang make.

how come they were seeded 5 then? was it due to mette's XD ranking?
I'm happy to see that Boe/Mogensen are producing quality badminton at the moment. They just whacked Luluk/Yulianto 15-9, 15-6! Perhaps it's *finally* time for Carsten Mogensen to climb the podium in a big event? ;)
And Lee Hyun Il is a class player. I don't see why everybody is so surprised about his wins?

You are right. He was at top 5 during late 2003 to early 2004. But he almost disappeared thereafter (injuries???) and played even in some sattlelite games recently. I guess that make serveral people to unaware of him.

No, that doesn't come into it. The organizers have obviously allowed Brita to replace Rikke without re-seeding the tournament. Quite odd, when you think about it. I didn't even know that was allowed in big tournaments!

hello all,
just came back from Indonesia/S'pore and was able to watch 2 days of action. Quite a nice venue, heard Kwun went there last year??with his wife&mother-in-law??although IMO, they could've done better organizing with the transportation service. Well, at least the taxis are more common there than in the L.A. area...
I've captured a few shots, albeit from long-distance to share with you guys....There are several pics which shows the outside lounge area where all the vendors and food/snacks are sold...
The MD match between JEriksen and MLHansen was really wonderful. The seniors really showed their experience and poise in handling the young Cai and Fu..
Met also with tama-aki(Aki) also at the stadium and went to fill up our stomach after the QF day session...:).
Enjoy...:).
