Taufik problem is that he is a late starter and Lin Dan has much better stamina.

Also his 2 previous clash won't help his form. If he wants to win against Lin tomorrow he has to fire-up earlier and be more consistant. I think Taufik is the only one for the moment who can spoil LD chance of gold in WC.

I have to say I really really really want Taufik to win but I doubt he will as Lin Dan seems to be on a perfect form. I think both players wants to prove their superiority and prove who's the real King before WC :D

I'm just curious. I could have sworn that in some of the videos tournaments in Singapore that I've seen, the commentators have mentioned air-conditioning. Does anyone know whether the gym for this event is air-conditioned?
If so, that might make a difference from the friendly tutu mentioned in Malaysia. That is in addition to the fact that no money would have been at stake and that Lee Chong-wei would have been on home ground, of course.

Semi Final and Final telecast is on Channel 5 not SCV. But, the coverage for Semi Final is only from 2pm to 4pm, so you can only watch Lin Dan vs Taufik at Singapore Indoor Stadium.

As i couldn't believe that taufik managed to outplay peter gade yesterday in 96 min long match, i thought that he was preaty worn out. but no, it looks like he had enough motivation and strenght and "defeated" world's no. 1 lin dan. :D i am happy for that. altough i was dissapointed yesterday that gade lost:( but i would really like to get that game on a tape or smth, cause here in slovenia we got no chance to get thing like that on satelite...:( or am i wrong?

I saw the Taufik versus Gade match yesterday and was simply full of admiration for these two champions. Both displayed fantastic craftmanship, sound tactics, great patience and an eye for the kill. But Taufik seems to have that 'extra' and this separates him from many other greats. He has this knack for surviving and turning an almost impossible task to his advantage as shown in this match. His position seemed hopeless then as he was far behind Gade in the second game but he managed to claw back to win the game and match. Gade was surprised by his sudden bursts of brilliance and speed as Taufik began to collect points with his overhead smashes down the line and fast drives reminiscent of doubles play.

Talented Taufik is no stranger to Singapore and in fact almost played for Singapore more than two years ago. He was very popular with our teenagers and our badminton fraternity and would have been a great contribution to our badminton aspirations.

His win over Chen Hong in the Finals would be what most Singaporeans would wish for. I will be there to support him although I missed his match against Lin Dan in the Semi-Finals. :)

I can confirm that Gade is a rare sportsman. Despite his loss to Taufik in the quarter-finals, he showed his appreciation by embracing Taufik. I've captured that emotional scene and others like Taufik being sprawled on the court in trying to retrieve a smash to his backhand. :D

I can confirm that Gade is a rare sportsman. Despite his loss to Taufik in the quarter-finals, he showed his appreciation by embracing Taufik. I've captured that emotional scene and others like Taufik being sprawled on the court in trying to retrieve a smash to his backhand. :D

Lin made so many mistake after taufik slowly caught up... my friend was there to see it hehe... mmm.... dont that remind u of Olympic 2004 final when Taufik beat shon???(same scenario) :D

Those are their original chinese names. That's why I think Taufik is not an indonisian chinese, since he is called Tao Feike in China, a straightforward translation based on pronunciation.

Sure not. Many americans have chinese names. That do not make them chinese for sure. my brother-in-law's tai chi teacher has a chinese name jin tiayang. but she's definitely an american.

on the other hand, as a tradition, the chinese media does not just make up a chinese name for an indonisian player. usually if they have a chinese name, they will use it. otherwise, it will be a translation based on pronunciation. so since mia is called zhang haili in china, i think she is probably an indonisian chinese.

Don't think so, their Chinese name doesn't sound like their original name at all.
Tao Feike is definitely a translation only, Wag Lianxiang doesn't sound similiar to Susi Susanti at all. If those chinese names are given by the media, why Sigit and Flandi don't have one?
