jump smash from thailand!
The interesting part in this photo is his left hand, normally players raise their left/right hand (which is not holding the racquet) for balance they smashing... thus, this players looks like he is "raising/flying vertically" instead of jumping from the ground... like someone with some special ability.. :D

he was actually at the extreme left when the shot came and he just seems to be able to take one side step to the right and jump up to the right for the smash....stylo milo

just came back from aviva open. lin dan lost to taufik. he was playing a great game and leading by 7 or 8 points. then he got playful and started losing points. tried very hard to catch up but luck wsa on taufik side. quite a few of his smashes that taufik returned just happened to hit the white tape and roll over..how to save?
second game saw him serious but after winning a game and w a strong crowd behind him, he was on form and perform many beautiful drops that was beyond lin dan's reach. lin dan lost 2 straight games.
though i support neither of them strongly, i was sitting feeling that i am wasting my time cos i expected a much more exciting match. it was nothing compared to the game between taufik and gade.
as for the pictures upload...later after i bath:D

i don't know much about taufik but read from many reports that he often gets very playful during a game. of course it's when he was younger

i don't know but if it is true, it'll be hard for me to imagine a world no.1 doing that to an olympic champion in a semifinal match of a 6 star tournament 2 months prior to a world championship.
Maybe Lin Dan is still young ?? :D

Hmm, I think the opposite could be true, Taufik could be the one "being playful and losing points" earlier on, letting LinDan go up by that margin and then started playing seriously...
Taufik has always been known as a "slow" starter(for who knows whatever reason)..For example in the QF, in the match between him and Gade, he was trailing in both the 1st and 2nd sets..Esp. in the second set, Taufik was trailing 13-8, well most of the set, when he rallied and slowly came back, where he forced a deuce and won 17-15...Yes, i agree, the match between him and Gade was wonderful, the fans actually cheered for Gade to rally back and forced a rubber set(hehe)..
I actually met with Wiempie Mahardi and chatted with him, and the thing that surprised him and myself was to see Taufik's resiliency, had that mental attitude to keep fighting even when he was trailing..In most cases, according to Wiempie, most players would let the set go and save energy for the 3rd set...Esp. thinking ahead, if Taufik would have won, he will play LinDan in the SF and need all the energy he can get..

wont it be more energy saving to go for 2 sets than lose second to fight the third?
