I suppose all matches will be held at a same court right?
:)Can Chen Hong make a hat-trick in Singapore? He won it in 2002 and 2003. Taufik is out to win his first trophy after OG. Chen Hong certainly won't have an easy game, Taufik sent lin dan packing in straight sets
:rolleyes:Can the 1997 world champion Chandra/Sigit help Indonesia to defend the MD title won by Luluk/Alven last year? and show they are back to top form again? Or Boe/Mathias could be another rising fearful Danish pair after JE/ML and JR/LP in very soon future?
:eek:Can Prapakamol/Thungthongkam again defeat Gao/Zhang this year after they did it in All-England, to again prove themselves they are at a same level with NR/GM, ZJ/GL etc?
:pWhat about Zhou Mi? I can't wait to see her revenge over Zhang Ning for last year's SO final straight sets defeat. Aiya, Guangxi ma :D

My opinion:

MS: Taufik 55:45
MD: Chandra/Sigit 60:40
WS: 50:50
WD: Gao/Huang 55:45
XD: 50:50

Note: Gao/Huang beat 5th seed Andersen/Schjoldager by 15-0, 15-0 in QF en route to final, but I dunno what happen???

My prediction:

MxD: Zhang/Gao
WS: Zhang Ning
WD: Gao/Huang
MS: Taufik
MD: Candra/sigit

also, if OG = olympic games, then i think this is not the first trophy that taufik is aiming to win (he won indonesia open 2004 remember :D :D )

My Prediction
MS : TH vs CH 60:40 Taufik will likely follow IO 2004, defeat LD in SF then win from CH in final
WS: ZN vs ZM 55:45
MD: Candra/Sigit vs Boe/Mongensen 55:45 if only indos can finish in straight set
WD: Gao/Huang vs ZD/ZYW 55:45
XD: 50:50 though i prefer thai win, so chn don't win many titles;)

I guess there will be a lot of off-court relaxed(?? I hope so) players during or not during match times, like fangfang, bao, cai/fu etc, all the players who are not going to play in the final, so don't forget to snap their photos when they are cheering for teammates la:D..!!

XD - Zhang Jun/Gao Ling
WS - Zhang Ning
WD - Gao Ling/Huang Sui
MS - Taufik Hidayat
MD - Chandra Wijaya/Sigit Budiarto

Once again, Gao Ling proves she's still the best women double player. And Chandra/Sigit prove a big mistake the Indonesian not play them together in TC last year.

As much as i want chen Hong to win.. but i'm still rooting for Taufik to win this match-up. :)

I think the problem Lin Dan lost is more on himself rather than Taufik's game..
Same goes to Xie Xingfang, she was "disinterested" on the court..
That's why tomorrow we can see a close match between Chen Hong and Taufik

Well Lindan have to prove himself again this coming malaysian open. It is definately not going to be easy for him.

Would this affect his confidence?? I don't know.. Or in contrary this will be a motivation for him?

Would this affect his confidence?? I don't know.. Or in contrary this will be a motivation for him?

LD has played Taufik quite a bit lately so if he had lost at any time his confidence would obviously have been lost.

So it's probably better that he loses now and finds his mistakes so that he can fix for Malaysian Open and be ready for the World Champs.

Taufik found the winning formula to Chinese Players in Singapore Open.
Combination of good nullifying the oppenent's brute smashes, his precise net play, drive, drop shots and sudden smash caused yesterday Lindan and today Chen Hong.

In fact, his skill is not a new, as most of us know his ability. However he did in this competition more consistently and patiently. Hope he keep this form in future.

i saw Tony G. did the same thing also at last year's US Open edition...it's all about timing and position on court(if he was far away from the racket, there is no way one would travel all the way across and get back in time..

regarding the lady, i do not know. However she is Indonesian as i saw her and a couple of her friends on the QF day talked with Taufik...she could be Deswita Maharani??(Taufik's gf), but can't confirm, could be just another friend...

Rally is still on going?? Wow, then Chandra must have tremendous speed also to change his racquet... he already put the racquet ready there to expect some situation like this ? :D

Who is that special lady anyway

saw Boe and Mogensen played in last year's US Open..they lost to Tony G. and Howard Bach in straight sets in the Final...The key to beating them is to play net, short drops and small/short shuttles, don't give them high ones for them to smash down as they are very tall...If you can control the net and give them low/short shuttles and force them to retrieve and lift those, then they will have a harder time...

could be Candra's/Sigit's first time meeting and playing against them??...

hey do you know what taufik said in the interview after the match? i just saw it on the news just now.

last november's open here had the same thing happening. i cant remember if it was the same pair or eriksen. but that person ended up getting reprimanded by the umpire. it is considered a foul. i was suprised the umpire was quite lenient to him today.

but seriously i was rather shocked to see him scurrying off like a mouse to his bag and was wondering what he was up to.

wow..never know this forum exists till today...so i will say hi first :)
good to know that taufik and candra/sigit won in today's final (yes, i am an indon, but based overseas :P). used to dislike taufik (a talented but spoilt brat with huge ego), but i observed that he has finally matured into a fine player especially after his olympic win last year. unbelievable matches against peter gade and lin dan, and he fully deserved his victory! hopefully he can maintain his form for the WC in august. he can afford to drop the malaysian open :)

candra/sigit....they're old...and i actually root for alven/luluk nowadays...but seem that the youngsters have declined in form recently. candra/sigit is slower too...and that will be dangerous against the youngsters like cai/fu and jung/lee (whom i rate very very highly...and they are already no 7 after less than 1 year). on skills and experience, candra/sigit probably is top of the list, together with paaske/rasmussen and eriksen/larsen, but, stamina and speed are no longer their weapons. anyway, good to see them collecting their second title of the year and third title after being re-paired late last year.

other upcoming young double players that i fancy: kidho/setiawan (but they always ended up losing to paaske/rasmussen in almost every tourney!) and gunawan/riyadi (currently WR40, but they managed to sneak into the second round in Singapore Open). i believe they will be up there in the top 10 come one year time. jung/lee is also another upcoming top double players...certainly the best from korea and a handy replacement for the 2 legendary pairs of ha/kim and lee/lee.

I've forgotten in which competition, but I remember Lin Dan said this before, "I train so hard, but still have to follow team's order" after losing to a teammate.. because the teammate holds a better record and is more likely to win against the opponent in final..

yeah, is there any proof for this in badminton already?? I don't know....
but this occurs in the chinese table tennis team (in a chinese affair SF, the one who is more likely to win the final if the other finalist is not chinese, should win in SF, of course not everytime)

the talk about match fixing isn't anything new, and i am sure it's there all the time. but just aint right to 'accuse' a team of doing so if the match didn't end as it should have been. in this case, the way i look at it, the two zhangs won fair and square. the match was exciting and the zhangs apart from having more fire, also hd more desire to win. if it was 'fixed' so the young pair who has not won anything big, won, thn i believe it should have been given to wei yili/zhao tingting instead.

anyway, let's see how they (the two zhangs) fare in the coming m'sia open. i think they are in the same quarter with the top korean pair....

There have been many allegations of match fixing which I find unfounded, including this one. Did those who made the allegations even watch the match? Both pairs fought tooth-and-nail. It was obvious that the Zhang pair piled the pressure Huang Sui and most often, she could not handle it. Meanwhile, both the Zhangs were impressive, especially the petite Zhang Yawen whose partnership with Xie Zhongbo also caused the upset of Lee Jae Jin/Lee Hyo Jung. The Zhangs also easily defeated Wei/Zhao in the quarterfinals.

Based on that performance, it spells gloom for Wei/Zhao who may be relegated to number 4 or even 5 when Du/Yu makes their move.

Ok ok...I admit that I am a little bit quick to accuse the Chinese Team of match fixing. I apologize for that :) Of course, I know they are a very good upcoming pair and it's time for them to win a major title sooner or later. They are bound to be up there from the moment they were promoted from the juniors. Sigh...when you have 4-5 Chinese pairs in the top 10, every tournament is an almost foregone conclusion. Lee/Lee is still not stable and they even lost to the scratch pairing of Novita/Polli...unbelievable...

Because the match is thrilling and both pairs played seriously, it didn't mean that the match is not fixed, i mean they could plan it before the match and make the match thrilling so that ppl didn't think that the match was fixed.
This is just my opinion of course and I can't prove it, but I have read the article that say IBF must act to stop the chinese's team-order but I forget where I read it.

if one has the mindset that a match is fixed no matter how thrilling and exciting it was solely because it didn't end per strength or ranking order, one could never enjoy the game.

yup.. was a little surprise at the order of play. shdnt the organizer schedule it in such a way that a player who is playing in 2 matches be given sufficient time to recover? WD was played right after WS which is normally, not a lengthy game..

2002? man that s old. deswita and taufik is no longer together, thats wat the local newspaper wrote. they broke up a few months ago. Taufik is with someone else now. Its Ami Gumelar I guess or Amy?? daughter of Agum Gumelar. The lady in white might be her,the nose shows some similarity to her father s. deswita is the opposite nose characteristic, she has this uncommonly big nose for an indon(nostrils included)but still ok looking. the lady in white is definitely not deswita.

The lady in white might be her,the nose shows some similarity to her father s. deswita is the opposite nose characteristic, she has this uncommonly big nose for an indon(nostrils included)but still ok looking. the lady in white is definitely not deswita.

juicy gossip by some infotainment & local media that Taufik broke up with Deswita and back to ex. girl friend, Wynne Prakusya (Tennis player) after they were showed walk together.
The media have correct it since Taufik talked clearly about his family & girl friend in Sng Open's press conference.

Indonesians would probably know who Ami's father is. Her father, Agum Gumelar is a Lieutenant-General of TNI in Indonesia.. And her mom is the Head of Konggres Wanita Indonesia (Kowani).. Yes, Taufik and Ami are engaged..
God, just last year Deswita said that they are going to get married soon after Athens 2004....... Guess they are just not meant to be together..

Actually Ami's mother, Linda Agum Gumelar, was in Singapore for the Aviva Open.. While a lot of people left after the Men's Doubles Medal Ceremony, many people stayed back.. Those who stayed back would probably see most of the Indonesian players shaking hands very politely with an old lady.. She is Linda Agum Gumelar. Ami's parents are big shots in Indonesia.

Taufik is mature in his game at the moment. Only the girls are giving him a hard time.

yeah, that's why... They already mention about engagement in 2002 but then after that the engage thingy was delayed, is it?? so until this year they broke up...

Now this is confusing. I've just read in "jawa post" today that Ami Gumelar was there at the olimpic to support Taufik. Refering to that fact(if its a fact alright), there's no way that Deswita would say such a thing as marriage unless they have already made a pre breaking up agreement to keep it secret which i think is bridging up all this fact. For selebrities like them, its not an easy thing to keep something like that a secret for almost a three quarter year now. Media in indonesia is aggresive and brutal if its something to do with people breaking up or having an affair. Sometimes they are ahead of the person him/herself in realizing that something is happening. Its like"am i having an affair? oh..now isee, i am having an affair".
It makes same sense back to me now, for a long time Taufik and Deswita kept saying that everything is going alright despite the fact that they were never seen together in public.

but there is another incoherent fact. If it was Linda Agum Gumelar in singapore to support Taufik, then why would the same newspaper said that Agum Gumelar don't seem to approve to this relationship? in fact, when asked about it, Agum suddenly lost his friendliness to the press and walked away to his office while saying "that's their own bussiness". offcourse, Taufik is known as a playboy here.

oh please, ive been switching through channels, and found two channels which discuss taufik hidayat's love life,(oh please,,,,), he looks helpless with all the cameras and people following him, he looks like hes at some parking area or sumthin
also the girl in the pics posted is NOT ami, (ami and taufik both interviewed), ami looks like female version of agum, lil bit like deswita, but i think wita is prettier, but he looks pretty relaxed, and even laughed a little when the reporters joked about the possibility of it being an arranged marriage, lol:D
he admit tho that he is going out with ami
also agum said he had no problem with it

i cant believe im watching those shows! :crying:

i can never think of the female version of Agum. that sounds horrible. why don't u just use a simple and humble words like "not so beautiful"or"not so hot".

what? oh
maybe becos she IS hot?
i mean, yes, she resembles agum, becos she has smallish eyes and full lips, just like him, but i didnt say i didnt think she was pretty
lol:D
anyway, if i really thought that she was unpretty, surely i wouldnt say that i thought she looked like deswita right?
