The Kuala Lumpur Badminton Stadium, completed in 1989, is impressively situated at Jalan Cheras. The stadium and its vast parking area, occupying a total area of 2.02 hectares, is divided into three levels. The playing courts, medical room, storage rooms, public utilities, information booth, and ticketing kiosks are located on the first level. On the second level are the venue operations room, sub-press centre, results distribution centre, VIP lounge, doping control centre and other basic amenities. The areas for the TV and radio commentators, security observation, lighting, scoreboard, and PA system are all found on the third level.

The stadium gallery with a seating capacity of 3,000 is fitted with benches, retractable seats and bucket seats. The stadium can accommodate 10 courts for training purposes and at least six international standard courts for tournaments.

Air-thrust flooring has been installed in the arena to provide better impact for the players. The playing arena is equipped with an adjustable lighting network and a full air-conditioning system.

The stadium is serviced by city bus liners and the LRT.

Weeyet, IBF should hire you to promote badminton as you did such a good job in introducing Malaysia to the public. As a Malaysian, I sure miss all the food but fortunately in San Jose, California we have about 6-7 Malaysia restaurants and all are pretty good except very pricy, imagine 5 sticks of satay - US$6, Chicken rice-US$6, ...
Lets hope the Malaysia Open is as "spicy and tasty" also :-)

It's a pity for all the good work that weeyet has done to promote Malaysia,we are still so slow when it comes to disseminate information through the internet.Till now there is no result at all for the prelimnary rounds.Someone has to wake up and do something about it.Calling all BC members who witness today's matches to post the result. The official website is still not functioning. It's shameful.

HI Weeyet !!!

You make me 'sick' with your food-photoes.
What I mean is 'home sick'.
Since I arrived in Belgium I have never enjoin such a food.
My saliva flows out from my mouth.

I think its time to back to Indo. ;)

I'm with jkusmanto. I'm no expert on Malaysian food but my first meal ever in Asia was a Roti Telur breakfast in KK and I thought it was funny that, visiting 10 years later, my wife also became addicted to roti canai breakfasts. Not to forget the kopi susu. In a way, going back there this past winter was a little like a homecoming.

It looks like an amazing facility and I wish I could be there. Badminton crowds in Malaysia and Indonesia are the stuff of legend up here in Korea and every domestic TV broadcast makes mention of the excited throngs of people who come out for events in those true badminton nations. The small Malaysian and Indonesian contingents who come to the events here to cheer on their compatriots also really liven up said events.

I get to see the semifinals and finals for the first time of the Malaysian Open. This means I do not have to go and see the World Championship in Anaheim in September. But I want to see the 12 girl band. I have a few of their CD's.

Ron

WOw, are you coming from the US all the way ? I will be watching the tournament live too. Hope I could get the ticket for the finals today.

I am traveling to Malaysia for some other purpose, but while I am in Malaysia, I will get to watch the Open. It should be fun, and hopefully, the stadium is not too hot.

The stadium is air-conditioned, which will be switched on during the tournament. Switching the air-con off would give the South East Asians an unfair advantage.

Wondering why is this so if one is allowed to take pictures in the stadium(presumably without the flash so as not to distract the players) ?

I really enjoyed all the matches. The men's doubles match was the most interesting one.
