My bet is
Lee Chong Wei vs Lin Dan/Chen Hong. Taufik can rest and prepare for World Championship. What say you? Any of you playing tournaments in Pioneer, Sembawang and Boon Lay? See you there!

What do you guys mean by ''need some rest''?

That he will lose purposely? Not go to MO at all? withdraw?

From what I heard his plan was to win 1 of the SG open or MO in order to be ready for WC. After his won in Singapor, he claimed that he was only 70% of his expected form for WC. So I think he will try to be full form and win MO also.

It's hard to predict Malaysian players performance on home soil

unlikely for taufik not to give a fight for the title. his immediate task is to get a good ranking for the coming WC which will be determined after m'sia open. he mentioned in an interview he is to get to top 4 so he wd avoid meeting LD or PG before the semis stage. he is currently in no.8, after winning the s'pore open, he shd have ard -2700 points, which is very close with CH, BCL and those few in top 6 now. a good outing in m'sia open is what he needs. my 2 cts...

My sentiment exactly! I have calculated Taufik's latest WR points and it should go up either 2-3 positions from the current no 8. So, he should at least go all the way to semi in the MO to have a better seeding in the WC next month. However, I doubt that he will win a second concecutive title this week.

to me the players tht stand a chance are Lee chong wei(im a msian), taufik(my fav), peter gade(he's nice to watch), lindan(he's too fast, not human) and chen hong kenneth but i dnt really like them, i'll b supporting the 1st 3 but too bad taufik has to play chong wei in quarters

4th round (quarter)
*Is too bad Lin and CH will head to head in 4th round, I suppose Lin will beat CH,
* Gade will pass through WONG Choong Hann then beat HASHIM Muhd Hafiz in 4th round,
*HIDAYAT Taufik will passing through KALDAU Niels Christian and LEE Chong Wei in 4rd round
*could be either BAO Chunlai or JONASSEN Kenneth but Jonassen have bigger chance.
Semifinal
* Lin vs Gade will be a good macth (I don't know the story of head to head of this two ) Lin could be go to Final
*Taufik vs Jonassen also will be good macth too, but Taufik.. I suppose can defeat Jonassen
Final
Lin vs Taufik... Taufik will be the champion
That's my thought prediction hahahaha.... :D :D

indonesia has been quite down lately... so i hope indonesia can make it better this year... as i suppose that the MO is the last field b4 the WC. :)
SO was quite well... even i still a bit disappointed when sony couldn't make it into semi's and widyanto/natsir felt in semi's...

Especially considering it's his home ground, I'd like to see Hafiz take his third title of the year at this tournament. I remember at the last WC, hopes were high since he'd had so much luck at that Birmingham Stadium, pulling off surprise wins at the Commonwealth Games in 2002 and the All England in 2003 but he exited the WC early.

This year, he has done more than rely on flukes. He has proven himself to be a real power. Having said that, he has yet to prove himself against the top Chinese players, today's rout of Xia Xuanze notwithstanding.

I like seeing Hafiz do well, although normally I cheer for the little guys, literally. So if, as others, have wished, Lee Chong Wei (at 172cm according to the Athens website) were to defend his title, that would please me just fine, too.
