Does anyone know of any differences between the "normal" yonex SHB 99 and the limited edition version? I was thinking about getting a pair when they come out, but I'm struggling to find any differences other than cosmetic, so wondering whether it would be money well spent. I've enclosed a link for the limited edtn version (didn't bother with "normal" as I assume everyone knows what it looks like.)

Any info is appreciated,

I know where to get it- they're out in August in UK, which, conveniently, is where I live! I was only looking to find out if there are any differences, and whether I should save a few founds and get the normal ones

Apart from the cosmetics, the limited edition (silver and red) version will be low cut. In other words is have less ankle support. But if you like more freedom of movement (over and above support), then this is your cup of tea.

I was under the impression from Yonex UK that the only difference is in colour scheme.

The make-up of the shoe is no different to the ordinary shoe.

This shoe is QUITE amazing. That image is quite fake of Lin Dan wearing them. He's still wearing SHB-98s from the Malaysia Open. Chen Hong was wearing it in the Yonex Japan '05 that I know of. You'll notice it if you pay close attention to the video =)

I got to take a look at it from a Yonex Distributor in my area. It sort of has this flap that completely covers your foot inside. Supposedly it keeps you cool and does a whole bunch of stuff. Well anyway, my point is, don't judge things by their cover heehee:D

One of my badders was wearing them yesterday. But the print right besides the shoelace shows "Limited" instead of "Low".

But the color scheme is exactly the same as 99Lo's

Taufik Hidayat wore the SHB 99s when he visited Manila in May. If I'm not mistaken, he also wore them during the Yonex Japan Open. However, after that, during the Sudirman Cup then later during the Singapore Open, he switched back to the SHB 98.

I'm guessing Yonex helps its players by allowing them to subtly adjust to their equipment, huh?

I have both SHB99M and SHB99LE, and honestly speaking can't find any differencies in them - only the coloring is different (LE looks more cool). I've tried them both a few times, and they even feel exactly the same. IMO SHB99LE is just a marketing trick from Yonex. Both are good shoes though!

You're probably right on that - material feels a bit different to the fingers. My comment was mainly on the mid/low cut discussion (both LE and M are low cut). Perhaps I can verify the durability during the next 6 months or so

Hmm..if u have narrow long foot....den shb98 fits u well. But if u have wider foot, shb99 fits u better...as it feel wider towards the front of the shoe. and i believe shb98 is lighter den shb99 too. Preferably try both yourself to find it out..i tried both at a shop too. :)

Why would any self-respecting manufacturer make shoes that look so similar to some major manufcaturer's? I am sure there are talented designers in their own country/company to design something more unique or signature? Won't they be concerned about being labelled as imitation-company?

Any idea why some SHB-99 Limited edition is named as SB 99 Limited edition? and the middle sole of the shoe is covered instead of a hole? Is it a Fake?

It does have a sunrise hologram sticker on the box as well as in the label that says " Please look out for this SUNRISE HOLOGRAM as proof of authencity and guarantee of genuine yonex product"

I believe its a genuine yonex but when look at yonex website it never mention the sb99-le. However i bought mine SB99-LE at half of the SHB99-LE price thats MYR220.00. I bought it from YY dealer shop.

SB-99LE got two colour red/silver and orange/silver. The cost is half from the SHB99LE because some of the features is not included such as Power Cushion Insole MC and lateral claw, but being a beginner player like me its suite me very well and happily own it compared to my previously apac, power, carlton and mizuno shoes.

Hi jas1121, no offence, but without all the technology like power cushion, Insole MC, lateral claw etc etc..... MYR 240.00 (S$110+/-) for this SB-99 LE is really very expensive, abit not worth it IMO. :( Coz in Spore, can get SHB-99 LE at around S$135 cheapest to S$150.

Where to get at this price? World of Sports and most of the places I saw are selling at $249 which is insane. The cheapest I saw was $149 at Bras Basah but none in my size.

Hi jas1121,
Thanks for the confirmation that it is a genuine Yonex model. I tried to google this model number and cannot find much info on the internet.

I also just bought a pair of SB-99 LE a few days ago in Pertama Complex for M$190.

How much would a pair of SHB-99 LE cost in KL?

Hi charls,

I didn't know what the market price is until I saw this thread. Lucky me... :p
I also bought some shorts, long pants and jacket. He gave me 15% off on these. These are quite cheap compared to the prices here in Australia. Furthermore, there aren't that many choices of Yonex clothing here.

I tried to ask the guy to throw in a pair of socks but he was too tight... Oh well, I was happy with all the purchases and that's what matters... :)

Now I just have to save up for the next trip... :p

The shop name is Perfect Sports (Tel. 03-26915118) and is on the ground floor. Look for Adam or Alan.

LOW is the Japanese version. The LIMITED is for distribution outside Japan. Btw does the LIMITED have VERYCOOL materials?

Yeah I was wondering if there're any material differences between SHB99 Low (Japan only) and SHB99 LIMITED. But heck, I imported the Japan version anyway. :p

I got the SHB98 MID and SHB99 LOW from Japan (not the export versions)..... I find that the SHB98 MID is lighter but narrower, and has less cushioning compared to SHB99 LOW.

Hey guys! IMO, i would rather pay MYR100 more for the SHB99. It is going for MYR280. It might not look as striking as the SB99. At least, it comes with the 'power cushion'. I just went to Pertama Complex yesterday and there are a few shops selling the SHB99LE, SHB99, SHB98 & SHB90. They have quite a few high-end Yonex shoes. I'm not sure if they have all the sizes though. These shops are not that difficult to find. Just walk around and you should be able to find it.

I am now surprised by the number of badminton shops mentioned in the forum in pertama complex. I was kinda rushing through and spent most of my time in the new wing searching, maybe i missed some.I kinda regret buying it because i thought it was the original version and its kinda hard or stiff at the front and has good grip.

Mind telling me the price of SHB-99LE , SHB-99 , and SHB-98 at perfect sports if possible? I got someone going there in a few days time and he said he can help me buy it to save on post laju. Would be thankful if anyone could help.

SHB99 & SHB98 are both going for MYR280. Not sure about SHB99LE. But my guess is MYR350. Anyway, I think the sizes are already quite limited. I hope I'm wrong on this.

Initially I was thinking of getting the 99LE because it looks really cool. But I saw this guy who was wearing this shoes a few months ago. My first impression was this guy must be a good player. After seeing how badly he played, I have changed my mind totally and would rather go for the normal 99 (or other white Yonex shoes). I simply do not want to give people the wrong impression when I wear those 99LE.

I do not own the 99LE or 99. But, I've bought the 98 recently. From what i've read from a few posts, the 99LE is said to be more durable. No mention of how much more durable though. If you play like a pro, you should go for the 99LE.:D

Hi Guys

A friend of ours picked up the SB 99 limited edition for my son in KL for $70 Australian, 190 Malay currency..

She was told it was the same as the shb 99 limited edition.

Since we have studied this shoe , the SB is much heavier than the shb 98 which he currently holds .(weighed a 29cm shb98 dads shoes v 26cm SB 99 limited edition on kitchen scales. Dads shoes are lighter). First impression of the grip is that the sole is much harder than the 98 and he believes that the grip on the bottom is actually rubbish , Can anyone please give us feedback on what they think about the grip of the SB 99 limited edition,, Also noticed that it dos'nt have the power cushion so fatigue must set in the legs if there is not support /cushioning,is it a fake maybe ? Can someone who has used the sb 99 limited edition comment on
the cushioning as well....My son bought two pairs 26& 27 cm for basketball and badminton mainly for grip , cushioning and lightness but the sb seems to have none of these, compared to the SHB 98...

If any one wants to buy them (the SB Limited edition) there most welcome .The 26cm have only been worn for 5 mins testing the grip on the badminton court, and not too impressed...

SHB 99LE is not the same as the SB 99LE. SB versions are the lower grade models of Yonex badminton shoes. You should get the SHB versions.

For those who drag their foot when playing, I don't recommend these shoes.

I am a super foot dragger and I tore a hole on the left side of my shoe after a 3 day tournament. I played on a regular wooden floor and have had the shoes only for a week!

Does anyone know of a shoe that is super durable for those who drag their feet and are super hard on their shoes? :D

DinkAlot

Try taping your shoe with athletic tape where you drag. Do it as often as necessary.

Another shoe alternative? I'd say try the 100s. They are definitely more robust but so far, not as comfortable as the 99s. The 100s need at least a few weeks of breaking in.

I don't know of any "super durable" badminton shoe. It's a trade-off. If you want something super durable, it's not going to perform or be as comfortable.

when you lunge for a net shot or some other shots that you have to lunge for the side of your shoe makes contack with the court therefore causing wear on the shoe and leading to a hole being formed.

I just picked up a pair from Tokyo last week for 7,749Yen(US$64), it was on sale at Windsor Racket Shop located at Shunjuku. I've played 2 days with the new shoes, and they feel great, my feets are somewhat narrow so the fit was very comfortable. the one i notice when used this shoes, the insole is very slippery, i don't know why, it's maybe because i bought 1 number larger for this shoes.
I compare with my old yonex shoes (same number 27cm), the length of the outer shoes is absolutely the same w/ n99ltd. BUt i felt the inside feel 99ltd have more length

There's no limited edition in Taiwan. And if i'm going to buy here in the philippines it's pricey. It'll cost me $100+. Do you know where I can buy this shoes online? The sure once..

$100 sounds like the appropriate price to pair for genuine shb 99 ltds. i know some people here got them discounted, but $100 isn't a bad price.

You can buy it from other country for about less than 100 bucks.

do you, yeah its just with regards to dragging your feet liek in the pic i posted, but with the way the LE's are made aka the material on the side it really kinda comes out a lil nasty looking. i dont mind it at all but yeah oh well i dont wear my LE's much anymore really though with a hole through the sides there mostly just coaching shoes now i wear when i coach.

yup that is true you can do that and some places you can get them to put a patch over top of it and that will wear down insead of the shoe itself.

unless the hole forming is on the corner there with the rubber too, between the gum and the white rubber areas... then we're outta luck :(

that is true, then you will simply have to get a new pair of shoes, well i havnt seen that happen to many yonex shoes actually let alone the 99 LE's but yeah forsure out of luck there.

Are we supposed to get 1 size larger shoes for badminton? I wear 7.5 with my tennis shoes that I wear everyday and they seem to be comfortable with maybe a little room in the front if I can remember, maybe not, but I know that they are not tight on me. Should I order 8 or even 8.5 when I purchase shoes for badminton then?

I wear Size 8 (UK). When I got my Yonex SHB-99LE, I got Size 9. It lasted for 3 years. Excellent shoe.
