First Annual American High Badminton Club Tourney



On July 23, Saturday, the American High School Badminton Club will be hosting abadminton tournament at the American High School gym. The tournament is open to all incoming 6th - 12th graders (all Bay Area Jr. High and High School players are welcome), who will play in either the 6th - 9th grade group, or the 9th - 12th grade group.



The 6th - 9th grade group will have Boys Singles and Girls Singles, while the 9th - 12th group will have BS, GS, and Mixed Doubles. Incoming 9th graders may play in either groups, or both. Each event will have a maximum of 16 entries. Due to the limited number of players who can enter, if you are interested in playing this tournament, please send an e-mail to ahsbadminton@gmail.com, as soon as possible, stating player’s name, event, and group (6th - 9th or 9th - 12th).



When: Saturday, July 23rd (9:00am – 7:00pm)

Where: American High School Gym

36300 Fremont Blvd

Fremont, CA 94536

Fees: $5 per player per event for the 6th - 9th group and $7 per player per event for the 9th - 12th group. Registration fees will be collected on the day of tournament. Please bring cash or a check payable to American High School Badminton Club.


Events: Singles and Mixed Doubles

Deadline: Monday, July 18th. In case there are last minute changes and the registered players are not able to play, walk-ins on the day of the tournament maybe allowed to play provided they complete the waiver form and pay the registration fees.


Rules:


All first round matches will be 2 out of 3 to 15, set to 17 if tied at 14.
Consolation and 3rd place matches will be one game to 21; set to 23 if tied at 20.
Players to provide plastic shuttle NCS or Yonex Mavis 350. Feather is optional, but all players in a match must agree to using feathers.
Players will be given 90 seconds between the first and second game for coaching. Players may not leave the court.
Players will be given a 5-minute break during a split match.
Players will be given a 15-minute break between matches.
A 5-minute default rule will be enforced after each match is called.
A 5-minute court warm-up will be allowed before players start their match.
Double elimination tournament, every player is guaranteed at least two matches for each event entered.
All players must have a waiver form signed by a parent or guardian, and brought to the gym on the day of the tournament.
Gym will open at 8:00am for players to check in and pay at the registration desk, and to warm up. A basic Singles Tutorial will be offered from 8:00am - 8:30am. Games will begin at 9:00am, with the 6th - 9th grade Boys Singles. Each event will take about 2 hours, timetable as follows:9:00am 6th - 9th grade Boys Singles

11:00am 6th - 9th grade Girls Singles

1:00pm 9th - 12th grade Boys Singles

3:00pm 9th - 12th grade Girls Singles

5:00pm 9th - 12th grade Mixed Doubles



Trophies will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place finishers in each event and medals will be awarded to the consolation winners.

weak tourney again? hmmm.. LOL.. btw.. this is not Nam.. so yea.

hmm.. too bad.. the 23rd... a sat.... usually.. people are busy on a saturday.. damn....HAAHHA ( JK).. hmm... what gym are you guys gonna be using? O_o... oh well.. i'll inform people... . to help out i guess..
