so how many more experiments do they need to try?

Well, it's the only way to retain the 5x7 format for doubles. I still think 5x9 with current serving rules would be better, but it's really a good thing they are trying the different options out in practice.

We have been monitoring the scoring patterns in the doubles of
the top division of our national league and we found that the
average number of points scored in any turn of service with two
services was less than two. There is therefore no need at all to
change the service distribution rules.
Mind, no decisions have been taken at this point. Other options
are also still possible. Changing to 5x9 would be the better solution.
