I have been given the opportunity with my local club to go and see the all englands for the last 2 years and have decided against it because at the time I didn't have the money to spend.
If I get the opportunity this year I think that I will probably go, but just for my information can anyone convince me if there is any benefit to my game by going and watching some of the best in the sport play.
Thanks.
Nick.

hi nick, i take every opportunity to watch top class badminton. at the most basic level just watching top athletes of your sport is inspiring - i remember watching and elite circuit final years ago and being massively inspired to train properly, and practice as much as i could.
also after watching a few tournaments you start to get ideas about tactics and where to play shots.
visualisation of how to play shots when your learning is a key skill and being able to see how a shot should be played really helps visualise how you yourself can play the shot.
hope this is evidence enough to convince you to go and see the tournament. :D

I would strongly encourage you to go - both to improve as a player and for the pleasure of watching world class badminton.
Watching it live courtside you get such a strong impression of their speed and power, it can be inspiring, and the sound they make when they smash! It's SO much better than watching it on TV.
One tip: if you're not familiar with all the top foreign players, you might want to have a quick browse of the world rankings so at least you know who's who. Years ago I went there and for 5 minutes stood right next to Gong ZC, the All England and Olympic champion, and didn't even know who she was, doh!

totally should go. not only will you learn from the best in the world if you haven't watch them before, you will also learn and experience the great atmosphere.
if you live in Redditch it is a no brainer, you can probably drive there everyday or find a B&B somewhere. i used to travel from Malvern to London to watch the AE while it was still held in Wembly. though i don't remember much of the matches themselves now, i do remember it to be an enjoyable trip.

You might want to try places on the Hagley Road or Outer birmingham with rail access to the city centre area.
Watching live badminton is fun at any level if the players are better you learn a bit more about proper technique and footwork, but I do have to say that you should also be trying out the shots they play and at the lower levels this is better because they play trick shots and deception more often and with the slower pace of the game you can learn more.
