View Full Version : Badminton is great!
justcoll 01-30-2002, 07:37 AM I've just been reading all the messages, and replies in this forum. Some of them are hilarious, like those about having shuttle surgically removed from the body. I really, really enjoy my game of badminton and my partner will tell everyone that I spend much more time laughing on the court, than actually playing the game, although I don't do too badly (I think). We're quite a close knit community in Durban, but I'd really like to meet other avid players around the world. I probably have no advice to give, other than if you're gonna play, then enjoy the game, so it would be nice to hear from other enthusiasts.
Glad I found this site.

Welcome aboard! I think we got a pretty good crew on this ship that Kwun built!
For your point of reference I'm in Surrey, BC, Canada.
Winex West Can 01-30-2002, 03:42 PM Colleen,
To follow up Badrad's posting. Welcome. Always great to hear from other shuttlers in other countries. I am located in Richmond, BC, Canada (Richmond & Surrey are suburbs of Vancouver, BC).
justcoll, welcome to BC/BF!
look around. there are so many humors and real useful material contributed by so many others. i hope you enjoy them.
to answer your other question. as far as i know, there are no interactive chatrooms for badminton, at least, none that sees any heavy traffic.
TDotSmAsHer 01-30-2002, 04:31 PM Toronto , Canada here:D
Marky 01-30-2002, 06:48 PM I am from Richmond, BC, Canada.

ligak 01-30-2002, 07:51 PM hello justcoll, welcome to the badminton crazy community. You come to the right site. This is a global forum. I'm from Malaysia. (nearly global, anybody seen an eskimo play badminton in the north pole?)
Cheung 01-30-2002, 08:27 PM And HK
I think Mag is closest to the North Pole.
They got people playing badminton in sub zero temps up there
Glad to know you laugh a lot :) hehehe, nothing like a good game of badminton~ ;) and Im from Indonesia, Makassar (thats the name of the city, which is located in Celebes). But I spend most of my time in Perth, studying there.
Manuel 01-31-2002, 03:38 AM Hi, I am also new in this Forum. I really find this site excellent, there are a lot of intersting things to learn. I am from Portugal but living in Luxembourg, little country in between Germany an France. I play Badminton everyday and on weekends I play Championship. It's interesting to read what people do in other countries and how crazy about Badminton you all are!!! You all know so many things about racquets and strings...etc. I've been reading all what has been posted the last months and it's excellent...
Valentino 01-31-2002, 05:16 AM I am from the Netherlands!
Hey Iwan my uncle has the same name as yours! Were also Indonesians. What city are you from?
Uhmm... yeah right. Actually it's not half as cold here as in Canada.
Anyway, we have one or two Finns here too. They're probably closer to the North Pole than I.
TDotSmAsHer 01-31-2002, 10:54 AM AHHHH SNOWSTORM JUST HIT TORONTO TOday! .. but after i shovel the driveway i'll head out to play badminton :) .. no school today. heh
Pecheur 01-31-2002, 03:31 PM Argh that's criminal, I've never played everyday, the most I've done is six days a week, and that nearly killed me :P
When I was serious about the game I only played four times a week, for two to four hours a time, and did other exercise for the other three days to reduce strain on my arm.
PS From Melbourne Australia here.
cooler 01-31-2002, 08:30 PM goody, it's your turn. We the snow last week, and -33 C low and -19 C high temperatures.
Manuel 02-01-2002, 02:41 AM Well it is not that I train every day. I train Monday to Friday and then on Saturday or Sunday I have a Game. It is not that i play 7 days in a row what happens only every two months or so. Well I have to say that I train with the National Team.
That's why I can train so much.
Cheung 02-01-2002, 03:11 AM Hey, another Badminton Fanatic!!!!!! :o)
Manuel 02-01-2002, 04:38 AM Yes I can say so and I will try to communicate much more in this forum.
Jeez. And I thought Sweden had cold winters...
Mikie 02-01-2002, 08:12 AM Indeed we've got quite a widespread community! Moscow (Russian Federation) is here.
Damned weather - we've got temperature changes from +5 C (yestarday) to -25 C (gonna be tonight). And it is not the first time for the last 2 weeks. :(
Nevertheless this weekend is a badminton weekend for me and my friends! :)
Good games for all of us!
cooler 02-01-2002, 12:45 PM yah, that was just a short cold spell. Usually this time averages -17 C low and -9 high. Specifically for calgary, we get the occasional chinook which could ram up temperature a lot, quick too. One extreme i had experience was in four hours span, the temperature went from -15 C to +8 to 10 C, actually it peaked at +12 C according to the weather man. . That's 49 F degree difference.
Peter T. 02-07-2002, 11:21 PM hehe, i guess i'm the first post from the USA. I'm in Chino Hills, California. And the coldest it got here is 0 C. Most of the time, it's pretty warm, cept in winter, where it's usually 40 F (sorry, we're still in the farenheight system........we really need to convert...... =P
cooler 02-08-2002, 02:49 AM welcome to this forum Manuel
