Thank goodness for the website given or i will die of curiosity! Can't wait for the results and though it seems like a China National tournament, but Jiang Yanmei/Li Yujia, Hendri Saputa/Li Yujia are in the Women's Doubles and Mixed Doubles respectively! So support them to stop China from winning all the titles!!! Go Singapore! YAY!!!!!!!:D

12 out of 16 in MS are Chinese players. Look like their national competition. I think PG should not come to this tournament, but take a rest like most of the top players. I also can foresee it will be the end of Lee Tsuen Seng's career after his first round exit unless he can bounce back to achieve something surprising next week in ABC.

Really? So you mean, in "lv", the "v" is supposed to represent the u with double dots on top right, like Ü??

Well anyhow, I agree that since very few foreign players participated, PG should have skipped out. It would have been like wading thru a pile of thorns to get thru the stages. Well at least a few non-CHN players made it thru to 2nd round like Ng Wei and Kuan Beng Hong. But several of these CHN MS are either from junior squad or most likly top rankers from their respective Provincial squads.

Go Xia Xuanze. I hope he does well and can stay for the meantime.

I'm really surprised that there's no english website to this tournament given that it's attended by international players. I mean I can understand the website being chinese if it's their national tournament but a 6 star international tournament with no english version of the website? Very poor indeed :(

Thanks so much for posting the results hcyong!

It is disappointing that Mew Choo lost. I was starting to get excited about the prospects of Malaysian women shuttlers getting better and better compared to other women players from countries like China and Indonesia.

Oh well, back to the drawing board for her.

Yes, a bit disappointing. Her performance is inconsistent, but that's the trademark of Malaysians.

I'm optimistic and to me, the future looks rosy as there are quite capable girls in the junior ranks already pushing up. Notably there's a player called Julia Wong.

Wang Lin, if I am not mistaken is a 15 year old junior player. She was here during the World Junior Championships last year.

interim results

Fourth-seeded Chen Hong of China was eliminated while world number one Lin Dan had to battle in the men's single second round at the inaugural China Masters Badminton Championships on Thursday.

Chen failed to reach the quarterfinals, losing to his unseeded compatriot Zhu Weilun 15-4, 4-15, 15-11.

He was joined by Chinese eighth seed Xia Xuanze, who was ousted by teammate Wu Yunyong 15-11, 11-15, 15-10.

World championships finalist Lin was taken to three sets by junior world Chen Jin before winning 15-4, 7-15, 15-4.

In the women's singles, top-seeded Zhang Ning also stuttered into the quarterfinals as she was threaten by teammate Chen Li before an 8-11, 11-3, 11-4 fightback.

Newly-crowned world number one Xie Xingfang maintained her blistering form with overwhelming victory 11-1, 11-8 over compatriot Li Wen.

After world bronze medallist Peter Gade of Denmark suffered a shock first round exit and Chinese Hong Kong's woman star Wang Chen withdrew, the 250,000 US dollars IBF six-star tournament was left wide open for home shuttlers.

The Chinese women have booked seven spots in the last eight, leaving one for Netherlands' European champion Yao Jie.

Men's singles were also dominated by a throng of Chinese players.

no offence, but this tournament, supposed to be a 6* International tournament with US$250,000 in prizes, seems like a joke...it seems like nothing more than a national chinese tournament..
I hope the Indonesian Open is better attended later this month.
