chika 09-07-2005, 06:25 AM according to badminton-inonesia.com.. strong countries like denmark, korea and malaysia will participate.. except china.. they definitely wont send any players to indonesia open.. TOTALLY BAD NEWS.. national championship is more important for them.. anyone knows when this championship will be held?
hmm.. its ok laarr.. at least.. no china domination in WS and WD..
huaaaa!! cant wait!!
sugar_free 09-07-2005, 08:11 AM I read in Bola that Denmark will send their best player, including Peter Gade and Kenneth Jonassen, which didn't participate last year... Not sure about Korean or Malaysian players... About the website, i don't think they have one... Maybe there will be some reviews or news in SCTV's website just like last year...
mikki 09-07-2005, 08:19 AM Bad news that china team won't come. but good news for the women sector cause they will be a chance for Korea, Denmark or Indonesia ladies to be the champion. But the reason why china team won't come for me doesn't make sense at all. A national competion is more important than international 6th star tournament??!!.

Actually, yes. To them, fighting for their states/provinces is more important than getting cash and ranking points. [because this is what the china government ask them to do. they want their athletes to have patriotism instead of just playing to get money.]

really ? i thought it was just bad timing
badMania 09-09-2005, 01:03 AM Until Indonesia send their players to China Open, vice versa. Both countries are childish.
Indonesia DID send their players to the China Open 2004 (held in October). Likewise, China brought along a strong squad for the Indonesia Open 2004 (held in November). This time, the tournaments after the WC had poor turnouts. Only a handful of top players turned up for the recently concluded China Masters 2005. In fact, Peter Gade went there mostly because the organizers paid for his summer holiday in Beijing with his gf and children. Needless to say, he went out tamely in the first round to an unknown Chinese. Similarly, the Asian Championships lacks the presence of top players from Indonesia, Malaysia, and China. Indonesia and Malaysia send only their second-string players, mostly to gain experience and important WR points. China originally also had some second-string players competing, only to withdraw at the last minute. Only Hongkong, Korea, Thailand, and Japan turn out with their strongest teams
Meanwhile, the Chinese National Games are going to be held during the time Indonesia Open is played. However, at last count, 13 countries have agreed to come to the Open (compared to 16 last year). At least, Korea, Denmark, Malaysia, and Thailand should be in full force!

hmmm...
well, Chinese national tournament will be held in OCT when indo open is finished this year
indo predate? for what?
and Chinese team is on seedtime, paying more attention to the game which is held every four years
i think it is more important and the athletes will get more honor for representing for their own provinces

monkeymagic 09-09-2005, 10:07 AM Is there too many tornuments going on at the same time ??! they all seem to be clashing with each other, i.e. no big stars going to the asian tornument, indo not going to china masters, china not going to indo open, etc, etc. what the hell is going on ?
You would think china would send at least someone to go to indo open.... even if it is their 2nd or 3rd choice team.

you are very kind
we all appreciate it very much:)

well, the answer should be no
there are many athletes who is in national team and meanwhile they will represent for their own provinces in this tournament...
you know they are chosen from every province team all the country and have higher skill than others in their province which depend on them very much
so it is time to devote theirselves to that, i think
sugar_free 09-10-2005, 01:36 AM yup:D SCTV will broadcast it again this year. my friend told me it will be on SCTV from 1pm until 3pm. but i don't know exactly when:p
Hi MeL'z! u can check the schedule on http://www.sctv.co.id/view/126,11001,1,0,1126099330.html its in Indo and still said that Chinese team will participate:D And I think they have to edit the advertisement too! They typed that China will participate:p ... For those who can't understand indo, SCTV will broadcast round 1 until QF (Wed-Fri) from 1 until 3 pm. SF and Final will be on Saturday and Sunday from 12.30 until 5.30 pm. So sad that I only can watch SF and Final, my school ends at 3.30 pm... Lucky Chinese team won't come, so i won't miss their action:D ...

yep, its just not right. IBF needs to fix this, somehow...i.e.stopping major tournaments from becoming easy "ranking-point gold fields" for home players...particularly China (and maybe Indonesia) Open.
Also, i think its a bad strategy for Indo team not go to to China open...in Beijing 2008, they will have no choice but to play in China...they should get more experience/exposure .

WOW...thats quite a strong team (esp MS and MD). 9 MS and 7 pairs of MD. It will definitely increase the attraction of Indonesia Open and make the draw more interesting. I bet Japan, Korea, and Thailand will send strong teams as well (maybe additions of a couple more players to their Asian Championships team). Other Asian countries like Taiwan and Singapore are also likely to send a full-squad. As for European countries, we will see whether Denmark and England will send their first-team. If that's the case, the Indonesia Open is still very competitive and its very highly likely that the lowly ranked Indo's women players (both singles and doubles) and the newly formed mixed pairs have to qualify for the main draw.

Cheung 09-13-2005, 09:30 AM Bad news that china team won't come. but good news for the women sector cause they will be a chance for Korea, Denmark or Indonesia ladies to be the champion. But the reason why china team won't come for me doesn't make sense at all. A national competion is more important than international 6th star tournament??!!.
I think we should clarify why the Chinese won't attend the Indo Open this year.
This tournament in China is not just a national competition for badminton. It is a competition between all the provinces in China in many different sports.
The best translation of the chinese name is the "All China Games". It is held every four years and is extremely prestigious - more so than one Open tournament in another country. Gold medal winners get a cash bonus greater than the prize money for winning a 4 star tournament. The money comes from their own province.
Even Pi Hong Yan played for Sichuan last time and she had been abroad for a few years already. I wonder if they will ask her to play again.
The atmosphere in the arena should be really good.

Well...for the Indonesians here....the equivalent event back home is PON (Pekan Olahraga National), where all the provinces will compete for golds in almost every sports. The China equivalent will be held sometime in early Oct if I am not wrong and all players from all sports are definitely preparing for this event.
magical_phoenix 09-14-2005, 03:14 AM I am quite confused. Two of my friends met the Chinese players in Mall Taman Anggrek (a shopping mall in Jakarta). What are they doing here?? And I heard that they got out of a car sponsored by a cigarette brand, if I'm not mistaken Sampoerna. They are not really into badminton, so they do not know who they are.. Anyone got any info?

One of them met last Saturday and the other met yesterday. Is there any international sports event in Jakarta other than next week's Djarum Indo Open? If there is, perhaps they are not badminton players, but if there isn't.... perhaps they are here after all...

The problem is... they have no idea about the faces of the badminton players. They saw them wearing the jacket with CHINA written at the back. They are not wearing the black jacket, but red one. Haha.. that's the part that confuses me the most. And there are about ten of them. If there is no other int'l events.. well then who are they??? Perhaps we can confirm with PBSI... I just wish that they are coming though >.<

Are you sure they are badminton players? Maybe they are athletes from other sports. Maybe soccer, volleyball, or tennis... Many international tournaments were and will be held this month... If I'm not mistaken there was an international soccer tournament for highschool students or junior U-18 (not sure... , but i think china took part in that tournament) and it was held in Jakarta and Tangerang (a city near Jakarta). Maybe they are one of them (especially that there are many of them), but if they are really chinese badminton players, too bad i didn't go to TA that time:D

KourKK 09-14-2005, 06:25 PM Hafiz Wont be playing in the indonesian open this year. He has been withdrew by Misbun
----------------------------------
Fever forces Hafiz out of Indon Open
BY LIM TEIK HUAT
PETALING JAYA: A fever has dashed shuttler Mohd Hafiz Hashim's hopes of making a return to competition at the Indonesia Open, which will be played in Jakarta next week.
National singles coach Misbun Sidek has decided to withdraw Hafiz from the six-star tournament after Hafiz came down ill yesterday.
The national team leave for Jakarta this weekend and Misbun said there was not enough time for his charge to regain full fitness.
“He is taking medication for fever.
“Even if he recovers next week, he is still weak and won't be able to challenge strongly for the title. It is better for him to rest at home and regain his strength,” said Misbun yesterday.
He added that 22-year-old Hafiz would now concentrate on making a rebound in the European legs of the World Grand Prix circuit – the Dutch Open (Oct 11-16) and Danish Open (Oct 18-23).
Hafiz has been plagued by poor form since winning the Swiss and Thai Open titles early in the year.
He suffered a knee injury and was shown the exit in the third round of the Japan Open in April. Hafiz also gave a poor account of himself in the World Championships in Anaheim last month, losing to South Korean Lee Hyun-il in straight games in the third round.
He was among the national players rested for the recent China Masters and Asian Championships.
The withdrawal from the Indonesia Open would possibly see Hafiz dropping out of the top 10 in the world rankings.
Hafiz is currently ranked at number eight and he has been included in the squad for the SEA Games in the Philippines (Nov 27-Dec 5).
Misbun will be not in Jakarta next week but he is hoping that the other player under his charge, Kuan Beng Hong, will be able to put up a good showing.
Beng Hong gained from the absence of the top players in the Asian Championships in Hyderabad last week to finish as the runner-up to Indonesian Sony Dwi Kuncoro.
“I am happy that he lived up to his second seeding. He beat a top player in Hyun-il and I hope this has given him the confidence to aim for bigger things.
“It will be good if he can score a big upset win in Indonesia,” said Misbun.
Besides Beng Hong, the other Malaysian singles players for the Indonesian Open are world number four Lee Chong Wei, Wong Choong Hann, Roslin Hashim, James Chua, Yeoh Kay Bin, Lee Tsuen Seng, K. Yogendran and Pei Wei Chung.
The Star
-----------------------------
Hafiz's form/consistency/fitness im sure is worrying everyone...
hopefully he gets back in the SEA Games, or in one of the bigger tournaments later on in the year!!
Malaysia BOLEH...
btw, isnt Pei Wei Chung one of the upcoming malaysian youngsters? and so shouldnt Lim Kenn be there as well? or has he not proven himself...
xijiayu 09-15-2005, 03:31 AM Pei Wei Chung isn't junior player any more. He is national discard years ago and I believe you were referring to Chong Wei Feng.
Msia have a number of junior single players under Rashid. They are mainly competing in Satelite tournaments and sometimes regional championships as well. We are lacking behind in bringing up the gap between junior and senior single players. BAM should take more actions and get more juniors into senior team.
KourKK 09-15-2005, 03:50 AM haha.. thanks for the correction there...
i think Li Mao and Misbun need to start blooding the youngsters.. expose them to the tournaments.. and get them more match-ready and match-fit.. or else malaysia will be in trouble after wch retires, who will take that third men's singles spot?
Morten 09-15-2005, 11:03 AM Gade is taking a rest from tournaments and a busy session so he wont participate in Indo Open.
sandeepsajjala 09-15-2005, 11:40 AM Is this tournament Jawa Pos Gudang Garam 2005 satellite? Or is it a different one? Please some one reply. And do we have a thread for Surabaya satellite 2005?

it's different. Jawa Pos Gudang Garam is satellite category tournament and held in surabaya, east java, while indo open is 6star tournament will be held in jakarta.

Is this confirmed? What abt other Denmark players like Kenneth and the double pairs? Well, its sad to hear this news. If Kenneth do turn up, he will be the top seed, followed by Lee Chong Wei, Taufik Hidayat, and Ng Wei. If Denmark decides not to send any top players, we can well see another final match between LCW and Taufik....

TPA_AON 09-16-2005, 01:02 AM THAILAND will send the best team joining this tournament.
I really want to see rematch between Booksak VS Taufik as well as Sudket /Saralee VS Nova/Linyana
and hope Thai can win this time

I think it's becos of those who competes in this competition only 3rd/4th team from countries, also lack of information (no website/latest result). until now we don't know who are into Quarter Final.
Muzamir Haron 09-16-2005, 01:41 AM does anyone have an information about the participants for Indonesia Open 2005?
I hope China and Denmark will send their best player into this tournament.
Hi Mikki,

I don't think so because Surabaya is quite far from Jakarta. Perhaps sugar_free is right.. they are coming for the soccer thingy.. Hahaha.. nvm then. Anyway, they are definitely from China since they've got big letters CHINA printed on their shirts.
iso300 09-16-2005, 05:57 PM according to badminton-inonesia.com.. strong countries like denmark, korea and malaysia will participate.. except china.. they definitely wont send any players to indonesia open.. TOTALLY BAD NEWS.. national championship is more important for them.. anyone knows when this championship will be held?
hmm.. its ok laarr.. at least.. no china domination in WS and WD..
huaaaa!! cant wait!!
It seems like China never send any players to the Indonesian Open. It's not only this year alone. I guess their National Championships is always staged during the Indonesian Open. :)

can't say never, as far as i know chinese player attended the 2003 indo open
probably the chinese would also want to prepare for China Open as well. After the not so good outing in the WC.. i'm sure they have something that they need to improve on.
udin_udik 09-17-2005, 11:08 AM i am now in surabaya but i dont watch the Jawa Pos Gudang Garam satelite...but i watch some of the semi matches in Tv yesterday....today is the final...but it's 9 am and i was sleeping at the moment....
i watched a game between Maria kristin Vs Pia Zubaedah and it was a very tough match...maria won rubber set 11-8, 7-11, 13-11
Pia Zubaedah is not in National Team, just a young girl with great talent, she played like Mia played.....including that " Hypermobility" move......i m sure we will see this young girl more in the next one or two years.....

 they're using the jacket with CHINA written at the back?? wow,, it also confused me. But what were they doing in Taman Anggrek using the red jacket written CHINA at the back ? why don't they just a t-shirt ?? Same as you, i wish they're coming this year:p .

Well, China sent their players last year.
and i think China will send their players for the next indonesia open:) .. i wish:p
sandeepsajjala 09-17-2005, 11:24 PM obviously they will not send if Indonesian open clashes with their nationals! That is a policy in China. All chinese players skipped french open (tennis), just because their nationals clashed with the date.
Anyways, can you guys tell me where I can find qualies results?

sugar_free 09-19-2005, 06:23 AM Guys, i just found out that in the same day as the indonesia open finals, there will also be a soccer final match held in Gelora Bung Karno (beside Istora Senayan). I am really scared to know about that information because soccer fanatics are really crazy, and they are very wild especially if their fave team lost. Do you guys think it is safe to watch the IO finals in the same day they held soccer final?
