hi guys, i just recently got a few mp99 sp

one of them is stated as 3u/g5 in the spec labels, however, the tension reccomendation is only 16-20 lbs. also when i hold the racket it felt more like a 2u/g4 instead of 3u/g5. My question is, is this event possible to happen, considering:

- I am certain that my mp99 is a genuine one, all the gromments are correct, sunrise sticker is also attached (unfortunately on top of the serial number)

- the white sticker on the shrink grip wrapper does say 2u4

thx

my Yonex UK 2005 booklet has the following recommended tensions for MP99 3U
main 17-20
cross 19-22

2u/3u can be very small difference.

i have cab20 2U, measures around 94.5 grams. i have another cab20 which is a U, measures 95.2 grams!

so it may be the case that your 3U is one that is to the heavier side. the only way to find out is to put it on a precision scale and measure it.

Woven:

Could be possible the incorrect label is on there. You could compare your racket with someone who has a Yonex racket which is a G5 and compare the buttcap sizes.

what do you guys think of these? Both are MP33 but with different spec labels. It's just a minor difference so I really don't mind, but still: which is the real label?

Country codes are the same. The upper racquet on this second pic is the one with the highest tension limit of the two.

Look at the date codes. They are more than 1 year different. Seen like thay are not the same batch. Since I do not have MP33 nor I used any before, Could any member look up their racquet to see if they have the eigher one of the tension spec? and post?

They are probably from a different batch indeed. Bought them on the same day but I did hear my supplier about one being old stock, the other came in from Yonex just before my order. I don't think Yonex would alter something in the production proces which would make newer batch stronger, or is that a possibility? Otherwise one of 'em is just an incorrect label

Just you wait, I am guessing the NS7k and NS8k might have different tension spec next year. I am keeping an eye out for it.

It is just an error on the label.

i got 3 MP33s. All SP version. The recommended tension is higher for the batch released in 2004. i did see Cab21SP (2004 date code) with recommended tension up to 23lb.

It is just an error on the label.
particularly the 17-22 lb.
7.5 - 9.5 kg translates to 16.5 - 20.9 lb
so it should probably be 17-21

Different batch can have different spec.:
Example:
I have both old/new ISO Swing Power 900. I know because old ones have 5 digits serial code and new have 6 digits. The newer ones even have sunrise sticker at the bottom. The newer ones have spec. with higher tension. The same case also happen in Ti-10 as I saw in a shop.
