Who else is a big XZB fan now? I think that guy is just super awesome. He's really quite funny too. If you were at the WC for the first 2 XD matches, his court behavior is just... special. You'd have to be Chinese to have understood, but I think him and Zhang Yawen gained a lot of fan support because of their first match. Oh, and for those people who don't know what I'm talking about, here's basically what happened:

For his first match, he got pretty excited when he was smashing. Every time as he hit the shuttle, he basically screamed "CAO!!!!" at the top of his lungs. It's Chinese for f***. Hehehehe! I think he got chewed out by his coaches for it afterwards since it's an international competition and he's representing his country, so he didn't do it as often in the second match and barely any later on. :crying:

Oh yeah! And after his first match my parents were able to get him and Zhang Yawen to come courtside to sign a T-shirt. Those were the first autographs someone got at the tournament, I'm pretty sure.

I still feel bad for him after his loss in the finals. :(

I like XZB and ZYW. They look good together on court. There is a big size difference between them, it's cute when XZB cuddles ZYW :o

XZB looks like a gentle giant, for some reason, the first time I caught footage of the guy, he seemed very likable..:confused:

I think Chen QQ and Zhao TT will be relegated to 3rd pair, after these...but they still have some way to go before they reach the standards that Gao and Zhang have set.

I'm pretty sure around 1.90 meters. I don't really remember, but I'm pretty sure he's taller than me and I'm 1.87. He looked about equal to Bao when I was talking to them.

Hey all XZB 's fans-):

So glad to hear all what you've discussed about him. I was there (CA) 2 , and totally agree with you guys. XieZB is super-tall, super-handsome & super-nice as well, knowing how to treat his fans and audience. yeah, He bowed to us, and the way he hugged ZYW was so cute :p . The pic above is XZB and his partner "Guo....">? They 2 are funny pair as well. I've gone through an interview of them about how they beat up opponents. XZB are so modest, and Guo.. was funny to die^_^ Are they all from SiChuan? Same as Zhang Yawen. I think ZhangYW/XZB can be as potentail as replacing GuoL/ZhangJun in the near future. what u guys think? :D

Sorry for this common: :eek: i think they unfortunately lost to the Thai pair, was because the pressure from coach, country, and Zhang yawen. Did she complain a bit , too much^^? :o :D But I still like her. Huge guy and tiny girl are always fun to watch!!:eek:

I saw XZB playing at Polish Open (march 2004).

He won MD playing with GZD.

I also noticed his screams during his smashes, but of course I didn't realize that this could mean something like f***.

From the other hand this screams looked quite annoying to the opponents. If I recall well he was doing this every time he smashed in the early rounds. Once the tournament progressed I could hear this more seldom.

Even I saw his butt too...hehe...during Singapore Open, he needed the pysio therapist...since there is no one from China, he asked me to get Indonesian ones and we had to tape his butt with ice....:eek::eek:..I could see some black smark..:D...

i saw him at SCG Thailand Open 2008, he was warming up outside and when he wanted to enter the players/coach room, there was a lady blocking the door and he gently asked her to give him the way through...what a polite man

i was sitting with the chinese fans with the national flag and olympic flag, all of us giggled when we heard your cheer and screams...lol...were you screaming something in chinese???...or was it thai???...sounded like chinese to me...

and yes, it was definitely one of the most exciting matches...gosh...3 games...every game reached 20+...totally amazing...it was weird to me that He HanBin received a yellow card in that match...i didn't really understand why...may be it was that he screamed on top of his lungs every point he won????...no clue...

were you there for the last match up???...what a pitty it was that XZB was hurt after the first set and therefore the game didn't finish...it was THE game i was waiting for all day...after LinDan vs. Boonsak...urghhhh...:mad::mad::mad:

Hope his leg injury will not affect his performance at the Olympics...let's hope he recovers quickly enough...:):)

Really! You guys giggled at me..lol I screamed both in Thai and Chinese..but For chinese it's hard for native speakers to understand what i was saying ^ ^ I screamed "Jia You". I just knew after that I pronounce his name wrong >_< lol

Even though he lost the final yesterday, I was blown away by the ferocity of this guy's jumpsmash.

Very intimidating, shouting when smashing. At 1.91m ,he still do a full jump action. Looks damn impressive.

Basically, whenever he has the shuttle, and have the position for a jumpsmash, quite often it's one smash one kill. I seriously think he can give Fu Haifeng a run for his money.

From what I observed on Sunday, XZB's smash is steeper (due to his height) but ZB's much faster moving around the court so ZB gets more chances to attack the shuttle. It's like watching war of the bears -- Panda vs Polar Bear.

I don't think so, it is because of the security problems. Last time the team decided to send LD to Thailand Open this year, but due to the security problem, they have cancelled the plan and instead, they send LD to Indonesia Open. Moreover, by that time they are having their intensive training in Qingdao for the preparation of WC 09.

Hahaha. That's funny. And they're both protecting small bears in front of them (Zhang Yawen and Ma Jin). It was a great match.

It's also funny to hear MJ and ZB shout: one has a very high pitch sound and the other has a very low sound. It was like they're singing duet.

STOCKY mixed doubles specialist Zheng Bo of China puts on a fierce look when he is on court. But behind that stern demeanour lies a gentle giant of world badminton.
Although he has lost his cool once with his relatively new young partner, Ma Jin, during the All-England in March, he brushed it off as an action in the heat of the moment.
“I am actually a nice person if you get to know me,” said the 28-year-old Zheng Bo, flashing a wide grin.

The seasoned campaigner has been given the responsibility to built his partnership with Ma Jin to at least equal the previous successes he enjoyed with Gao Ling.
The Zheng Bo-Gao Ling partnership dominated the world badminton circuit in 2007 and 2008. But they failed to land two major titles — finishing as the runner-up in the 2007 world championships and crashing out in the early round of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Gao Ling left the national team after the Beijing Games and Zheng Bo went on to team up with Ma Jin last November.
Zheng Bo said that their immediate goal was to emerge as champions in the world championships, which will be played in Hyderabad from Aug 10-16.
“Although I have more experience than Ma Jin, I treat her as equal. I am confident that we will rise to become a top pair,” he said.
Zheng Bo-Ma Jin are now ranked at No. 18 after having won two titles this year — the Swiss and Indonesia Open.
They could add the Malaysian Open Grand Prix Gold to their bag before the world championships.
The second seeds beat Danny Bawa Chrisnanta-Vanessa Neo Yu Yan yesterday and will play against Malaysians Ong Jian Guo-Chong Sook Chin today for a place in the semi-finals.
