Right, in MS, there's only one: Taufik

No disrespect intended to the other talent Indo players. They are so good too but Taufik is the man.

But no doubt that Lee Chong Wei is going to be a very tough contender in this match. So good luck to both and hope they will make an interesting final

I think even without Team China, the Indonesia Open is still very exciting to watch especially Malaysia and Denmark are sending full team. It's a good preliminary guage for Rexy's as High Performance coach in Men's Doubles department so is Li Mao in Men's Singles. I am sure Misbun is eager to show the world his students are pretty decent too but I won't bet on Hafiz, way too inconsistent. May be Kuan Beng Hong can salvage Bisbun reputation?
Peter and Jonassen will be hard to beat and should be able to advance to QF so are the Danish MD pairs including Eriksen/Lundgaard, Jonas/Lars.
Not sure is Korea sending any player there? I also hope Taiwan send Chen for WS, she's a player to watch.
Malaysia Boleh!!!!

i agree with u, it's still 90 % exciting becos malaysia and denmark will send full teams, and it's better that china (especially women) won't come to indo open 2005, it's bored with their dominations.

taufik wants to claim his 6th winning in indo open 2005, he has already won 5 times in a row indo open (2000,2001,2002,2003,2004).

is there any player like taufik who wins 5 times homeground tournament in a row ? is there any china player who wins china open in a row ? :)

i just watched indo open2003 final, not to offend, i think indo players have higher possibility to win coz the Amphitryon have sooooo high passion:p

taufik will be the champ.Lcw might have a slim cchance of wresting the IO cup provided he can master all his will power in believing in himself that he is good enough to be a real champion with taufik around.Actually lcw has all the skills. All he needs is mental strength.May the best man win the tournament.Remember Yong Hock KIn had done it before.Nothing is impossible.Go for it lcw.

I do not think lcw is so young that he hasn't much experience. The truth is his nerves got on to him when facing taufik during the semi final match in the recent world championship.Malaysian players sometimes tend to freeze when meeting players of better reputation. When we talk about experience being the factor influencing the outcome of the game,t hen there should be some kind of a hard fought game. But lcw lost meekly to taufik not because he wasa medicore player. His mental capacity to believe that he could defeat taufik wasn't there at all. This Ibelieve is the bane of all the Malaysian players. If this aspect is not corrected from young, then malaysians dream of producing an olympic champion in badminton will forever be only an illussion.

Lee Chong Wei i hope... my only worry is his stamina n sometimes lack of concentration. it kills to c him keep making unforced error when he played taufik in the WC semi... About stamina... remember last year's Singapore Open when he thrashed Kenneth Johannson in the first game, lead the 2nd with big margin before succumbed to lack of fitness... that skinny boy!

but i still hope he'll win... bring it on taufik!!!

Yup, I just re-checked and Ardy indeed won it 6 times (1990-1992, 1994-1995, 1997). Taufik has to win 2 more titles to beat this record!

Looks like he got a hang over from disneyland. Simon is under pressure to perform now.
Chong Wei looks good so far. Very open.
So, any second thoughts about who will be champion?

Nevemind, I'll get the free ticket from Hariyanto Arbi. His office is just next to Hotel Mulia at the smaller senayan hall. See, if you ask for it, you'll get it. No free tshirt lah, but can sell you cheap lah (you still gain rite?). Tment tickets can get free lah.

If no more upset in the coming matches, then we will see Lee Chong Wei and Kenneth in the final.

As for Simon, I am not exactly convinced on what happened between him and Taufik but Taufik would have a better chance to be in the final than Simon.

Now that Taufik is gone and no Chinese players participating, no more excuse for Malaysia player not to take the MS title. Lee Chong Wei need this one badly to proof he's more than a good player. Anything below gold medal is considered a failure in my opinion under such circumstance.

On the other hand, that doesn't mean LCW is a nobody when Taufik or Chinese players are around. LCW doesn't need to win this title to prove that he is a good player. His long standing ranking already proved that he is among the current top players. And Bao still have no idea how to beat him yet.

Likewise, what do you have to say about Taufik? Is Taufik not a good player since he just lost to Simon? Do you think Taufik has a good excuse to lost in the 2nd round?

I just hope that LCW can handle the pressure from such PEOPLES' EXPECTATIONS.

sorry to jump and reply to your post..

*personally* what Taufik said to the media/public, "as the reason" why he lost to Simon in the 2nd round, is probably different than what he really felt/meant.
I can attest that, esp. in the recent WC, where during a press conference a reporter asked him about his recent lost to LCW in the MO, also in the *2nd round*. And Taufik mentioned "the back injury bothered him. But he also would like LCW to win in front of his fans and his hometown".
Many reasons, but only the players, themselves know..

Taufik is a World and Olympic champions, he is more than a very good player so even if Taufik slump the rest of his career from now on he's still a great player in my book. I understand there are up and down for players but Malaysia players have more downs than ups and you think is becasue of pressure from people expectation? Be real, Malaysia players are just spoil and not desperate enough when come to winning.
If Taufik and Chinese players still around then the excuse is very hard to beat them to win the title and when they are not around then is the high expectation pressure cause by people/fan like me
I hope Li Mau demand is higher than that.

At the very top level, the most important factor is motivation. Having reached the peak where no man has ever gone before, Taufit's motivation is unlikely to even come near the level that drove him to such great heights winning the Olympics and the World Championship.
Simon's motivation was greater than Taufit's for this match. The real danger for Simon is that should he lose badly to his opponents in the next few rounds, he will come crashing down-in the mind. Then it will take another year for him to recover mentally. The mental toll on him was quite devastating when he lost the critical singles match against Denmark in last year's Thomas Cup. He must not be on a roller-coaster cycle. Technical skill and an unsurpassed repertoire of strokes is nothing when the mind is not strong. Such top players need coaches who are great motivators besides the technical side.

That's why i can't acknowledge Simon's upset over Taufik yet as a "sign"..
He has to prove, to himself and us fans, that he indeed deserve the victory and have "grown and changed", according to Taufik. By winning this tournament and going deeper in upcoming tournaments..

I believe Simon(along with Sony) is now coached under Joko. Not saying he is less capable but perhaps Simon going with Mulyo Handoyo will improve his mental game??Mulyo did wonders to Taufik.. :)
