hi all, i recently purchased a carlton mega flex f1 ti, silver version and on the shaft, just above the black bit where it says 14% extra flex, it says "for cosmetic use only"

does anyone know what this means?

my feeling is maybe it was only designed for show and may crumble if played with, hopefully not of course. any ideas?

thanks,
Anthony

Pretty self explanatory. The raquet is not a production raquet but one that has been used for cosmetic approval or presentation so that potential buyers (retailers) can see the colour scheme. A couple of years ago we got one of the early Armortecs in the 500 and 700 that were cosmetic use only but we strung them up and hit with them. One raquet stood up quite well but another folded after a half a game. Any raquet that is cosmetic only may be close to what the final raquet will be in production or may be made of the weakest and poorest material. Yours may be fine but then again it may fold while stringing. It's a crap shoot and I hope you din't pay too much for the raquet. Best of luck.

perhaps but i wanted it for playing with. i paid approx £50 for it and doubt it is worth anymore than that if it is 'collectable'

thanks for your replies though

Don't worry about the quality, I think Carlton will replace a new one when it is broken (touch wood).

In fact, I have three Carlton at this moment, they are really very strong. I strung my Airblade (yellow one, forget the model) at 28lbs, it is no problem in crashing with other rackets. Even the painting also does not come off.

forrest, wiseguy's racket was a prototype, not production model nor purchased from an authorized dealer. It is not a for sale item. It was illegally sold and unfortunately and unknowingly, purchased by wiseguy. No warranty for such merchandise. It wont be a collectible item either since it is not a revolutionary product. Wiseguy, try to ask ur money back. It is not meant to be sold.

So, the main point is that where he buy the racket. If it is not from Authorized Dealer, then the money will be "cooler than water".

Hi Anthony, where is the racket come from??
