What would happen if someone smashed the birdie so hard it broke the sound barrier. Would the birdie disintegrate, would you dislocate your shoulder? Anyone?

Duh... :p Umm....you might need to re-read the OP. Otherwise I agree with smash_master, will take a while until anyone will get their hearing back. /mats Neil Nicholls 09-22-2005, 06:26 AM well after that sonic boom im not sure anybody would be able to hear anything in the badminton hall for a little while  why would there be a boom? CWB001 09-22-2005, 06:47 AM why would there be a boom? Any object travelling faster than the speed of sound makes a sonic boom. Examples you may have heard are bullets, aeroplanes (eg. Concorde) and the ends of whips. ViningWolff 09-22-2005, 10:01 AM I would think the feathers might disintigrate, given the sudden acceleration, but the cork might hold on. The forces around a sonic boom would likely collapse the bird. CWB001 09-22-2005, 10:05 AM The forces around a sonic boom would likely collapse the bird. The racquet has probably not been made that could accelerate a shuttle that quickly either - over three times the speed of the fastest shot ever recorded. And I want to be the agent of the person who achieves it - they would have super-human strength. Regards, Cliff LazyBuddy 09-22-2005, 12:03 PM One thing for sure, is I will never want to play against such person. :D DarthHowie 09-22-2005, 12:43 PM One thing for sure, is I will never want to play against such person. :D I pity the pour soul that gets HIT by one of these smashes (hopefully it ain't a head shot - but you're good as dead either way). LazyBuddy 09-22-2005, 02:34 PM I pity the pour soul that gets HIT by one of these smashes (hopefully it ain't a head shot - but you're good as dead either way). No doubt. If i see a person has a huge cannon smash during drills, I will NEVER ever ask him to play against (or even with) me. :p DinkAlot 09-22-2005, 03:28 PM No doubt. You'd have it easy in the front. :p silentheart 09-22-2005, 03:42 PM First, you need to construct a shuttle that can stay in one piece for super sonic flight. Second, you need a launching device to fire that shuttle faster than speed of sound. Third, you need someone stand in front to measure and live to tell. Not going to happen... Anyone? 1) There would be a sonic boom 2) The bird feathers would disintergrate leaving only the cork 3) I would not be anywhere near the path of the bird. :p :D other 09-23-2005, 07:51 AM Why not play with, LB? Would the birdie disintegrate, would you dislocate your shoulder? Anyone? Let's see to break the sound barrier the shuttle should be hit at approximatley 1200kmph.almost 4 times faster than the current world record smash by a player if someone does do it then that someone would probably be from outer space. i doubt there will be anything left of the birdie.and you need more than just shoulders to hit the birdie that fast! DinkAlot 09-23-2005, 01:41 PM until he mishits it and it goes bang into the back of your head:p I said I would be playing the front but I didn't say I would be on the court. :p |
