Hey just wondering if anyone has experienced a weird bump on the inner underside of the wrist right before the actually joint. I think its come as a result of my more intense training program. I think its called a syst or something but it doesn't seem to be affecting my wrist flexibility or anything.. its just a hard bump that hurts if I press really hard on. Its maybe only prodruding 1/2 cm from the place. Anyone have any ideas on what it is exactly?
I'm thinking maybe I hit my wrist against something really hard but don't seem to remember...

How long have you had it? Best to see your doctor if it doesn't go away in a week or so.

Yep, rather than speculation, go see a doctor and get some facts and options.
Good luck. :)

Hi Eurasian,
That's called a ganglion. I had one a year ago. The doctor who diagnosed it said it is typically caused by trauma. It is a little pocket of fluid that gets trapped in the tendon.
To get rid of it, wear a wrist support while playing. Make sure it is tight. You will feel funny with your shots for a while. My ganglion went away after about two to three months.

Thanks for the info, learn something new everyday. :D

I was Diagnosed as having one of these ganglions as well. Mine still hasn't gone after 18months. Painful to play with too. Doctor has informed me I can have it drained.

I was informed of that option as well. There are two ways that can be done: (i) using a needle and syringe to draw the fluid out; and (ii) minor surgery.
I am told, however, that there is a rather high chance of the ganglion recurring, even after surgery, which leaves an ugly scar.
I would recommend just compressive treatment. If that fails, you can seek out traditional chinese remedies (using a piece of bull horn to scrape the area around the ganglion, for example).

i rested my wrist (no badminton) on the weekend and the bump is much much smaller. I'm guessing there will be no bump soon enough.

I have one but it is located at my elbow. Doctor said that it will not affect my badminton. Then again, we speculate that it may be a ganglion but i guess it's best if you see a doctor.

Wow, that's weird, must be fluid and/or inflammation related. Regardless, hope you make a complete recovery. :D
