KENNETH won 15-3
is he real 31 year old ????
All Danish top players are like that, they get better as they age (like Frost, Hoyer-Larsen, Gade & Kenneth now).
Or maybe they lied about their age ....:D

Say, what formula do you Danish guys use? In Asia, only the young ones rule. Once you reach 28, it's all downhill from there, unless you're playing doubles (where you get better). And even then, none of Asia's men's doubles players are as old as Jens Eriksen.

In MD, 3 of our best pairs had to square off with each other, Ong-Tan lost to Koo-Chan, who in turn lost to Lee-Choong. If their paths were different, we could have had more than one rep in semis too.
But MS is very disappointing except for Yeoh Kay Bin ...
This is the 1st tournament where the ladies upstaged the men. Hasn't happened in a long while, since late-70s during Sylvia Ng's time.

How about WD of MAS vs THAI??
any updates??
Still donno who won the match.......
dun u think tat a final btw same countries is boring?
it can also lower the image of the game
if a sport is dominated by only 1 country
the IOC may not put it in the olympics anymore
If the match when 1 is leading at one time and the other cathes up, especially if it goes to 3rd set like Mia-Wong or Boonsak-Kenneth,
I think it's not boring whether it is same countries or different countries.
But if it's one-sided, then it's boring even if it is different countries playing.
Just my opinion :)

Actually I feel the Malaysian TVs are not trying or making good effort to promote badminton. Only Astro is showing finals and only finals no semi finals. Its disappointing, Malaysia as one of the badminton "power house" (errrr....can I still say that?) but not much effort can be seen to promote this sport by TVs.

Well, like I said, Malaysian players bowing out en masse in the Qfinal or Sfinal stages ... that is a Malaysian copyright :)
I am not too disappointed with the results. There are certainly some refreshing breakthroughs. I believe this may be Wong Mew Choo biggest breakthrough. She has beaten some top players before, but never did I imagine that she can stretch Mia that much. Chin/Wong at least justified their seedings, although it wasn't too difficult. We still don't know whether they have won or lost in the semis, but for me, that's ok.
In the MD, we have the numbers but not the quality, or not yet. Even top pair Chan/Koo cannot upstage old hands Choong/Lee. Old horses are good but we cannot rely on them for long. Fairuz/Lin (I thought they lost in the first round) gave a good account of themselves before bowing out to Chandra/Sigit. Also, some pairs (Tan/Ong for instance) lost to our own pairs, so can't really judge from there.
It has to be disappointing for the MS. However, one must keep in perspective. It was only disappointing only because of LCW's loss in the quarters. Which other Malaysians did you expect to be in the semis anyway? Also, LCW lost to Lee Hyun Il, who has been a thorne in Malaysia's side. The Malaysians have to find a way to neutralise this plucky Korean. I still don't know the result between him and Sony, but I expect him to give a good fight.

Very strange, I would expect the badminton popularity to increase, since you've already had Danish World Champions in badminton. Denmark had better success in badminton than football, even if you did beat David Beckham's team 4-1.

I think the Malaysian ladies are at a much better shape than our Indonesian ladies right now. At least, Wong Mew Choo is showing that she can compete at the highest level and she's still young isn't she? Wong Pei Tty and Chin Ee Hui have performed consistently over the past one year and I would rate this pair as equal to the other top South-East Asian pairs like Saralee/Satinee and Jiang/Li.
For MD, Malaysians do have the advantage of numbers. I count at least 2 young pairs who can make the mark and are already in the top 20 now (excluding Chan/Koo). These 2 pairs are Tan Bin Shen/Ong Soon Hock (20 and 21 years old, WR 11) and Mohd Tazari Fairuzizuan/Lin Woon Fui (WR 14). With Rexy's help, these 2 pairs can only be better in the future.
Of course, not to forget that there is another pair Gan Teik Chai/Abdul Latif Mohd Zakry who is ranked no 19 and last year's world junior champion , but this pair is still inexperienced. So, 5 pairs to rely on for the next few years...not a bad sign after all :) As for Choong/Lee, its a good idea to have them as a sparring partner to provide the experience, but, they only have at most 2 years left.
The most worrying must be men's singles (same as Indonesia). Lee Chong Wei is improving, but, he's still not a great player. Besides him, only Hafiz Hashim could be counted as a top player. Kuan Beng Hong is probably a player for the future....but others???

So far I only see 2 good decisions by Malaysia
1. Li Mao
2. Rexy
Its time to build up more WS and WD players to make a firm challenge with top class players. Anyway how old is KBH? I dont think he is any younger.
KBH almost the same as LCW. maybe one years younger

is actually 2 way relationship.......
coaches did play a important role.....
but at the same time, players did need to sacrifice, put effort in their regular training.........and also thier time management...........
Coz what i can concluded China players and others country players really difference lifestyle....
China players really crazy for their badminton career, coz there are lotz of competitors among themselves.......so in order to represent China, they need to do lots of things compare to others players to stay still in national team......

Younger than LCW and Hafiz. He's 22. Problem with him is that he plays like coach Misbun. In the 80s, you can be world no 1 with that style, but not now. His attacks must improve.

Good to know at least WD save grace for Malaysia. Our ladies have performed superbly well and I am very pleased with them. However, MS is the dissappointed one. I dare to say our MS players need to learn from their ladies who have denied the odd to achieve unexpected results here.

I think this is their first ever final appearance of a major tournament. I hope they can cope with the stress and play at their bests. Win or lose, they have already surpassed their initial target.

Yes, he's achievement would be even greater since Thailand is not known as a powerhouse in men's badminton, not since the 60s.
