Anyone knows which part of Mal are they from ? I sat next to them at WC2005 while they took a break, they both spoke a chinese dialect that I could not understand. Sounded very much like "Hock Chiew" dialect to me.

Couldn't be badly injured as a few weeks ago only they defeated CCM/KKK and Mohd Fairuzizuan tazari/ Lin Woon Fui in Malacca Open and finally captured the Championship title.:D No one in this world can beat CCM/KKK when they are badly injured.

injury was way before melaka open....if i remember correctly that was the 1st competitive tournament that soon hock played in after the injury

Soon Hock had some virus in his arm...it is not fully cured yet....he stil feels some pain in his arm...he has been getting acupuncture treatment....his next tournament will probably be the Denmark/Dutch Open....BinShen/SoonHock is currently not in th elist to play in the Japan and China Open but they are thinking of goin to CO coz they desperately want to get ranking points to get back in the top 32 for the Super Series next year

OEH has an older brother, ong ewe chye who runs a pro shop in penang and does some coaching as well, i believe.

When you use the word "extremely poort", I hope you can do better yourself.:rolleyes: Cai/Fu ain't the best at defending, but to say it is "extremely poor" is too much... afterall you can't be world champ when you can't defend anything. Plus there are players in Korea, Indonesia that have much better defense than Malaysia.. look at Kim Dong Moon, Lee D. Soo, Tony. Gunawan, Candra, Sigit.B.. those guys are simply amazing at both offense and defense... I guess that's why they are champions.:p

Strategy is easy to come up with, but can you actually perform it when it counts the most... that's the deciding factor. Since both sides will have strategies ready before going into a match, it just whom can execute better and put pressure on the opposition. :cool:

Badminton: Soon Hock-Thien How move into semis



KUALA LUMPUR: The scratch combination of Ong Soon Hock-Hoon Thien How kept up their good run in the Indonesian Open at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta yesterday, scoring an upset win over Denmark’s Mathias Boe-Cartsen Morgensen to reach the men’s doubles semi-finals.
And doubles chief coach Rexy Mainaky wants to see the good results being complemented with good attitude. He hopes that Soon Hock would have a change of attitude for him to be considered in a regular partnership with Thien How.
In the quarter-finals, Soon Hock-Thien How put up a great fight to beat the Danes 27-25, 20-22, 22-20 in 69 minutes. The victory came followed their elimination of fourth seeds Shintaro Ikeda-Shuichi Sakamoto of Japan the previous day.
They will play against the vastly experienced American-Indonesian combination of Tony Gunawan-Candra Wijaya today for a place in the final.
Tony-Candra defeated top seeds and world champions Markis Kido-Hendra Seiawan of Indonesia 21-18, 18-21, 21-10 yesterday.
Personal problems resulted in Soon Hock parting company with Tan Bin Shen last month and the latter was teamed up with Khoo Chung Chiat.
“The problem with our players is that one or two wins will get to their heads. They enjoy the praises so much that they lose focus. I have seen this from so many players, including Soon Hock and Bin Shen. They got big headed after they reached the semi-finals of the China Masters last year,” said Rexy.
“Soon Hock is a good player but he must control his behaviour on the court. Soon Hock and Bin Shen have done well with their younger partners, both at the Singapore Open last week and at the Indonesian Open.
“But the Malaysian players must know that good results alone are not enough. They must also be players with good attitude. I hope Soon Hock will change for the better following his good performances in these two tournaments.”
Besides Soon Hock-Thien How, Singapore Open champions Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif-Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari also advanced to the semi-finals, beating Indonesians Mohd Ahsan-Bona Septano 21-12, 21-12.
They will take play against unheralded South Koreans Ko Sung-hyun-Kwon Yi-goo today for a place in the final.
In the men’s singles, the sole Malaysian survivor in the quarter-finals, KLRC Bhd’s Lee Tsuen Seng, crashed to a 15-21, 16-21 defeat by Indonesian Simon Santoso.
In the women’s doubles, Chin Eei Hui-Wong Pei Tty, who are seeking a boost ahead of the Beijing Olympics in August, went down 15-21, 15-21 to Indonesians Lilyana Natsir-Vita Marissa yesterday.

Soon Hock is the more flamboyant among the guys. He is ok.. but sometimes he tends to over the limit. But he is not out of control.

From the match at IO, OSH talked a lot to his partner who is younger. Not sure what he was commenting about during the match, but if it is not something positive, this pair won't last long, it may end up with HTH talked back for the first time and shove his racket into OSH' throat.

I think you made a mistake. HTH played poorly in INA open SS SF yesterday. He is the one who commited more unforced errors thann OSH:cool:

but i knew that yesterday when i watch the match, i was nearly hard attack as OSH missed the shuttle on the net..i mean the shuttle was not return properly and that time was deuce!!!
