Sudda 10-15-2005, 01:31 AM For anyone living in Melbourne who missed the ticket ballots, the single ticket sales are on now!!!
You shouldn't miss the chance to see some of the world's best players come here to us. It'll be a once in a lifetime experiance.
Given that badminton isn't quite a popular sport here, the tickets are selling off quite cheaply. They only sold half the expected quota.
QF A-level tickets are only $15
SF A-level $35
Bronze medal $35
Here's the seating plan and ticket page if anybody's interested

Q&A: Kelly Morgan (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/badminton/4180476.stm)
Kelly Morgan has been named in Wales' badminton team for March's Commonwealth Games - just four months after becoming a mother for the first time.
The 1998 champion and Welsh number one has only just returned to full training, but she will compete in the singles and mixed doubles at Melbourne.
Her partner will be Richard Vaughan, who will also play in the singles.
Martyn Lewis, Matthew Hughes, Jonathan Morgan and James Phillips complete the six-strong team.
Lewis, 23, will play in the singles as well as partnering Hughes, 27, in the doubles. They are Britain's top men's doubles pair.
Morgan, 26, and Phillips, 21, will also be looking for a good run in the men's doubles.
Said team manager Clyd Davies: "We have selected the strongest possible team for the Games ¿ one that will pose a real threat to the rest of the field when they take to courts in Melbourne.
"These athletes have already proved their potential on the world stage.
"In Kelly we have a previous Commonwealth champion; in Richard we have a Commonwealth bronze medallist; and in Matthew and Martyn we have a doubles duo that has developed the experience to be able to beat the best on their day."

hcyong 01-09-2006, 03:21 AM hey guys.....which players do u think that they will play for malaysia in commonwealth games 06?
Lee Chong Wei for sure. His closest challengers outside of Malaysia should be Ng Wei of Hong Kong and Ronald Susilo of Singapore (if he's up for it). I think Hafiz will take the second national spot. In direct contention is Wong CH.
Chan Chong Ming/Koo Kien Keat. Besides Malaysians, closest challengers are Hong Kong's Njoto/Liu and the English. Hopefully, Choong/Lee can take part. If they do, they will be favourites in my view.
WS has to be Wong Mew Choo because the second player is far behind her. With challengers like Wang Chen (HK), Hallam (Eng), Hughes (Sco), Li Li and Xing (Sin), I think she has a fighting chance but not too bright. She will be a great asset in the team event.
WD: Chin/Wong definitely. Emms/Kellogg and Jiang/Li are their greatest challengers. They have an even chance. In fact, I think the SEA Games is tougher (Saralee/Sathinee, Indons, Jiang/Li).
XD: Has to be Koo/Wong. With the English (esp. Robertson/Emms) around, their greatest contribution will in the team events.

Well, if you become an independent nation (like Malaysia and Singapore), then no. But if you become part of China, then I'm not so sure. I just checked the Commonwealth website, and I don't see Hong Kong listed here.

Independant nations like Malaysia and Singapore can but as to Hong Kong the anser should be no .....
Listing from website indicates Asian Commonwealth counties as
Bangladesh,
Brunei,
India,
Malaysia
Maldavies,
Pakisatn,
Singapore, and
Sri Lanka
Last results listed is 1994, Victoria, Canada. That was before 1997 handover to China - so the answer is no.

snowflake 01-30-2006, 09:49 PM Help~~~~Does anyone know where can I purchase the Quater, Semi adn Final tickets for badminton beside the official website?
I couldn't get the tickets via the official website because they all have been sold out.
what can I do...because I plan to go to Melbourne to support my favourite players..........:crying:
Mini Me 02-28-2006, 04:31 AM if anyone still needs tickets, i have extra tickets for the team final, individual semis and individual finals. all are 'A' seats. team and individual finals are $65, individual semis are $35. pm me if you are interested.
I also have a surplus of a Closing Ceremony ticket ($100). Pls PM me if you would like to get it off me.
Seat Allocation is
GATE 3
BAY Q46
ROW Y
SEAT 23
Surprisingly I managed to get some tickets online last week. But I must say that I'm not used to paying so much for just one session which cost me an average of A$25 or A$100 for 4 sessions. As stated here, a team final can cost A$65, a relatively high price to pay for me. If you add in the airfare and accommodation, this comes up to quite a bit. There is no budget airlines to Melbourne from Singapore just yet. :crying:
And the Commonwealth Games is limited in scope in the sense that many of the world's best players from China, Indonesia, Denmark, etc, except Malysia, are barred from participating because they are not members of the Commonwealth.
Our own 5* Aviva Open Singapore attracts better names and yet we pay less than A$20 for a season ticket which entitles you to watch the entire matches from round 1 to the finals! I think we're having it too good here! ;)

if i'm not mistaken Commonwealth countries r FORMER territories of the British Empire, rn't they?
but as refer to the following link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commonwealth_of_Nations#Membership

" Hong Kong (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hong_Kong) could not join the Commonwealth following the end of British rule in 1997, as it became a special administrative region (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_administrative_region) of the People's Republic of China (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People%27s_Republic_of_China)."

What I think is this. Former territories of the British Empire that became independant belong to the Commonwealth group. But Hong Kong did not really become truly independant. Even though there is supposedly a different set of administration, it ultimately falls under the territory of China.
In the Olympics and Asian Games and other sports, Hong Kong has its own representation, but the Commonwealth is a political group, not just a sporting one, therefore Hong Kong ceases to be a member.

badcliq 03-13-2006, 08:31 PM I'm going to the Match on 24th...semi final..hehe...can't get the finals ticket though...darn!
My local SBA referred me to Mr Stuart Borrie, National Executive Director, BA, (Tel + 61 3 9397 4722 or email: stuart.borrie@badminton.org.au) as I was not able to obtain tickets for some events through the net.
Except for the Individual Finals on Sun, Mar 26, tickets for most of the other events are still available, some for $15 others for $25 (Level B) or $35 (Level A).
Tze yang may be interested to note that $15 tickets are still available for the following dates and events, according to the schedule emailed to me:
Mar
16 - 9 am Team
17 - 9 am Team
18 - 9 am Team
21 - 9 am Individual Singles & Doubles Elimination
22 - 9 am Individual
23 - 9 am Individual
24 - 9 am Individual (QF)
As you can see from the above, the preliminary rounds of events held in the morning session are priced the lowest at $15. except for Mar 24, which is the quarter finals for indvidual singles and doubles.
Happy viewing! :)

Badminton fan who residing in Australia should atttend the CWG to support badminton sport, just like we did in US during the World Championship 2005 in order to push badminton popularity to next level. Together, we can do it!
Thanks for the great pics, cooler. Maybe as what FEND has said, the score of 5- nil in favour of Singapore did not truly reflect the staunch opposition put up by South Africa.
But I expect Singapore to win against S Afroca and I'm going to cheer my team when it meets Canada tomorrow evening. :) I wish cooler could be with me to support Canada in person! Then the one who can shout the loudest will win! :D Since cooler won't be here, with my vocal support, Singapore will win. ;)
cooler 03-17-2006, 12:04 AM I wish the answer was that easy where my presence can boost our Canadian players ability:). Yes, it is alway a delight to watch and/or discuss about badminton with other badminton fans. I do like to visit singapore one day.

madbad 03-17-2006, 01:07 AM Below was a report from the official Commonwealth Games website. In paragraph two, Aamir Ghaffar of England boasts "We could win gold. Gold and silver will certainly be between us and Singapore".

Singapore strong force in Badminton
17 Mar 06 15:06
Singapore staked its claim as the leader of Pool B with a comprehensive 5-0 win over Jersey.
Aamir Ghaffar of England named Singapore as the team to beat. "We could win gold. Gold and silver will certainly be between us and Singapore," he said.
Players must win just two sets to claim the match. Singapore's strong form was evident throughout every match with their players showing focus and outstanding skill.
Singapore’s Hendra Wijaya and Fan Liu were untroubled by Jersey’s Gavin Carter and Lucy Burns, taking the Mixed Doubles match 21-11, 21-4.
Good court work and smart play saw Singapore’s Kendrick Lee comfortably won his Men's Singles match against Jersey’s Clive Dunford 21-6 21-6.
Solenn Pasturel of Jersey forced No.8 women’s seed Aiying Xing of Singapore to turn on the power in the Women's Singles in one of the closest matches of the tie 21-13 21-7.
Singapore’s Ronald Susilo continued his good form after returning to top
competition after injury. With partner Hendrick Saputra, the pair cruised through their match against Jersey’s Gavin Carter and Clive Dunford in the Men's Doubles, winning 21-9, 21-7.
The Singaporean Women’s Doubles team of Yanmei Jiang and Yujia Li was
untroubled by Jersey’s Elizabeth Cann and Lucy Burns, winning 21-11, 21-6.

Can't blame Aamir since England defeated both Malaysia and Singapore (Silver) the last time to win Gold. I'm afraid Aamir has incorrectly placed Singapore on too high a pedestal and completely underestimated the Malaysians. He should focus on Malaysia instead. But I can't say I won't be happy if Singapore became the dark horse.:D
wl2172 03-17-2006, 03:42 AM I hope Lee Chong Wei hands Aamir a duck:) , that would put him straight again.
What I want to see is Malaysia vs Singapore in the finals, that would be more interesting (this is because I think both these teams play a more exciting form of badminton). Is that possible by the way? Anyone knows how the draw is like?

i think a duck is very unlikely to happen with the new 21 point system. one unforced error will cost LCW to lose 1 point. but i do hope that this will happen, then Aamir will have to swallow his own words.
adelina76 03-17-2006, 05:04 AM My first article on the Commonwealth Games are now on the IBF website, www.internationalbadminton.org
Hope you guys enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it. So far also managed to have in depth interviews with Lee Chong Wei, Rebecca Bellingham of NZ, Ronald Susilo and Emms/Robertson. I'm so glad to be here! Tomorrow's matches will be exciting with Australia vs NZ in a "I don't want to play Malaysia" do or die match. Singapore will play Canada while the much improved Indians take on the English. Things are heating up!

But he doesnt look that cocky while in training though, i saw him training last week, in fact he looks kinda small around does world class players like nathan and gail lol...but he does talked hell of a lot...
Maybe adelina you should interview him after his game with Lee Chong Wei?
Aamir is just making his prediction, I am sure even if UK beat Malaysia, the winning point is not from Aamir, rather from Tracey(WS), Nathan/Gail(XD) and Blair/Clark(MD). Though unlikely, is very possible with 21-point system.
FEND. 03-18-2006, 03:40 PM You guys should've heard his (Aamir's) comments after his game with the Indian MS player last night. This is almost the quote, it went something along the lines of.. I always win whenever I win the first game, I'll win the 2nd or the 3rd if it comes to that.

That might mean england will go down to india too since singapore, the defending silver medalist and more so the aamir called "gold medalist contender" has gone down to them...

Where's the gold Aamir? Opps!...just got beaten by Sridhar Anup in straight game 21-15 21-14.
Chu Liuxiang 03-19-2006, 04:08 AM Where's the gold Aamir? Opps!...just got beaten by Sridhar Anup in straight game 21-15 21-14.
India is leading England 2-1 .:D It won't be surprise if the final is between Malaysia vs India.
metalmon1188 03-19-2006, 04:22 AM wow malaysian pari WCH and sum girl got beaten by NZ pair sara and sum guy.. 21-19 and 21-14
tutu_h 03-19-2006, 04:36 AM M'sia has entered the final, while England & India 2-2 with WD as crucial point for both side.
Sammy 03-19-2006, 05:14 AM M'sia has entered the final, while England & India 2-2 with WD as crucial point for both side.
England won the WD 21-11 21-17. It's Malaysia vs England final. Im predicting a 3-2 to either side. Well, Aamir still got a chance at gold.
Chu Liuxiang 03-19-2006, 05:33 AM England won the WD 21-11 21-17. It's Malaysia vs England final. Im predicting a 3-2 to either side. Well, Aamir still got a chance at gold.
Base on the sequence of playing in the mixed team final, MD, MS, WD, WS, XD, I think it should be either 3-0 or 3-1 Malaysia beat England. There will be absolutely no chance for XD to play. :D
FEND. 03-19-2006, 05:52 AM WCH and Ooi SA lost to the Kiwis, but OMG MEW CHOO SO CLOSE!! You should've seen the Msian players and coaches coming to the side where I was standing and just eagerly waiting the match to be over.
Btw for you guys out there, Loh is with me in Urban Central safe and enjoying every moment of badminton!!!
Baderz_Jas 03-19-2006, 06:06 AM Well, I'm predicting 3:2 or 3:1 to either side. :D It's gonna go:
XD- ENG
MS-MAL
WS-ENG/MAL:confused:
MD-MAL/ENG:confused:
WD-ENG
Dreamzz 03-19-2006, 06:20 AM Well, I'm predicting 3:2 or 3:1 to either side. :D It's gonna go:
XD- ENG
MS-MAL
WS-ENG/MAL:confused:
MD-MAL/ENG:confused:
WD-ENG
I would say:
XD - ENG
MS - MAL
WS - MAL
MD - MAL
WD - ENG
I don't see KKK/CCM losing to NB/AC, and Tracey seems to be a bit edgy ...
So I'm going for 3-2 to the Malaysians, but then I would, wouldn't I?
tze yang 03-19-2006, 06:39 AM im guessing the WD has a really good chance for malaysia to win a point as well, after all their the top seeds in the individuals
Btw why did WCH and OSA play the mix?isnt it suppose to be kkk and wpt?did they underestimated the kiwis?shldnt have needed the MD to waste their energy there
abedeng 03-19-2006, 07:55 AM No, more like to make sure MAS win MD. Expected to win MS and WS, but Wong Mew Choo really cut it close ....
For XD, the Kiwis are no pushovers, last year's World Championship semifinalists, remember? Even Koo and Wong are not guaranteed success against them.
xijiayu 03-19-2006, 08:26 AM According to the website, the sequence of the final should be MS, WS, MD, WD and XD. Is that true? I guess Msia will field in CTF/WCH for MD and KKK/OSA for XD. Why? because we need the experience of CTF at this crucial moment. Let's see.
tutu_h 03-19-2006, 08:46 AM for information, this is the order of play
MS
WS
MD
WD
XD
I guess malaysia will most probably ignore the XD and concentrate on the rest of 4 events.
if malaysia put CTF/WCH, it won't give m'sia a sure point and yet still couldn't sure on XD.
my prediction of the line up will most probably like this:
MS - Lee CW
WS - Wong MC
MD - KKK/CCM
WD - WPT/CEH
XD - not important
madbad 03-19-2006, 10:39 AM XD is a throw away point for MAS so they won't field KKK for it. Will probably stick with same pairing as SF. Like some others, I don't see the match getting to XD as MAS will have wrapped it up by then. Would love to see LCW slaughter Aamir Ghaffar and shut him up for good.
fast3r 03-19-2006, 12:49 PM Would love to see LCW slaughter Aamir Ghaffar and shut him up for good.
Me too as a matter of fact. Why was Gaffar even picked, as Nick Kidd would have done a much better job. Ghaffar is an embarrassment to English badminton. He even had trouble against the Seychelles guy in the prelims.
Also about his comment that he always wins when he wins the first game, well perhaps someone should remind him what happened in the Nationals final. (12-15, 15-3, 15-2 to his opponent Nick Kidd). If England win gold, which I hope they do, then he would be a lucky man as he will almost certainly have played no part.
Anyway, both team Malaysia and UK live up to their expectation and advanced to final, it was close for UK as the MD almost lost to India. If Malaysia can't win by 3-0 then will most probably lose by 2-3 as I am doubtful the WD and XD can bring point to Malaysia.
Malaysia Boleh!
Baderz_Jas 03-19-2006, 03:33 PM I would say:
XD - ENG
MS - MAL
WS - MAL
MD - MAL
WD - ENG
I don't see KKK/CCM losing to NB/AC, and Tracey seems to be a bit edgy ...
So I'm going for 3-2 to the Malaysians, but then I would, wouldn't I?
You are right  I totally forgot about KKK/CCM:mad: And saw Tracey lost to the Indian girl (only 16! ). Now it's gonna be 3:2 to Malaysia! hehe:D
Mini Me 03-19-2006, 06:29 PM how is the order of play determined? do the teams get to choose or is it a random draw? i can't imagine that england would choose to play xd last, they would have preferred to play xd first and ms last.
abedeng 03-19-2006, 06:59 PM Is Gail Emms playing WD and XD? Then the WD should be played earlier than MD to give her some breathing space.
hcyong 03-19-2006, 08:54 PM If that is the order, I say 3-0 to Malaysia.
cxytdn 03-19-2006, 09:29 PM WS - Who win who is mixed team champion.
adelina76 03-19-2006, 11:19 PM for information, this is the order of play
MS
WS
MD
WD
Actually, the order of play will depend on what is requested by the teams competing against one another. For example, in the NZ vs Malaysian match, because both Sara Runesten Petersen and Daniel Shirley plays mixed as well as ladies and men's doubles respectively, they have asked (and received) for their mixed doubles game to be played first. So a lot of times, it depends on whether a player is playing in more than one discipline during the tie.
In the NZ vs Malaysia semi finals match last night, the order was as follows:
XD
MS
LS
MD
LD
adelina76 03-20-2006, 02:04 AM India has beaten the dejected Kiwis 3-1 to take the Bronze medal in an intense hard fought battle which saw the Indian mixed doubles pair beating the reigning bronze medalists of the World Champs in 3 sets. Surprisingly enough, the Kiwis struck back when their 2nd ranked singles player, John Moody turned the tables on new Indian hero, Anup Sridhar to win in 3 sets to level the tie. Unfortunately, NZ then lost in the ladies singles and men's doubles to let India win the bronze medal. Well done India and better luck New Zealand :crying:
Gold medal match between Malaysia and England has just got on the way.
Baderz_Jas 03-20-2006, 02:16 AM Robertson/Emms wins 1st set 21-15
hcyong 03-20-2006, 02:37 AM England leads 1-0. Now, England needs to find two wins. And Malaysia needs to prevent that.
other 03-20-2006, 02:38 AM hehe MS now with LCW and Ghaffar...
what you want to see is a 21-0, 0-21, 0-21 win by LCW :p
tutu_h 03-20-2006, 02:58 AM first game 21-8 goes to LCW
wl2172 03-20-2006, 03:11 AM Think Ghaffar got a lesson now :) , hope he behaves like the rest of the english team from now on, speaking with the racquet is better.
tutu_h 03-20-2006, 03:12 AM 21-8, 21-8 to LCW
KourKK 03-20-2006, 03:13 AM if Mew Choo can win her singles match, Koo Kien Keat and Chan Chong Ming Can wrap up the finals for malaysia without CEH and Wong Pei Tty even stepping on to the court.!! :p
hcyong 03-20-2006, 03:17 AM Assuming (prematurely) that the Malaysians win the MD, the WS and WD are crucial ties for England. So, the crunch time starts now.
cooler 03-20-2006, 03:22 AM india and england.....
KourKK 03-20-2006, 03:32 AM The Schedule are as follows
Mixed Doubles
Mens Singles
Womens Singles
Mens Doubles
Womens Doubles
And So far results are 1-1 Malaysia England
With womens singles in play, if WMC wins this tie, then the title tilts very favourably in malaysias court, especially with the mens doubles being right after womens singles
LCW won the Game.. now is Wong Miew Choo Vs Tracy Hallam.
Baderz_Jas 03-20-2006, 03:39 AM OMG:eek: !!! It's 22-22
Baderz_Jas 03-20-2006, 03:42 AM  25-25 Come on Wong Miew Choo
Baderz_Jas 03-20-2006, 03:44 AM Wahhooooo!! 27-25 to Wong Miew Choo
Malaysia Boleh:)
tutu_h 03-20-2006, 03:45 AM luckily i don't have heart attack.
yeah, malaysia boleh
hcyong 03-20-2006, 03:47 AM 52 points! A good sign for WMC as she is reknowned for her fitness.
Dreamzz 03-20-2006, 03:48 AM haha, nothing like a tight first game ...
i think the 2nd game is going to be very one sided ...
Baderz_Jas 03-20-2006, 03:51 AM i think the 2nd game is going to be very one sided ...
Yeah, hope so (to Wong Miew Choo:D )
But now it's 9-8 to WMC
Dreamzz 03-20-2006, 03:56 AM are they showing the match on the BBC now?
Baderz_Jas 03-20-2006, 03:57 AM are they showing the match on the BBC now?
Yeah, only on interactive. But they will replay it at 11:05
Baderz_Jas 03-20-2006, 03:59 AM oh no! 17-13 to Tracey Hallam
cxytdn 03-20-2006, 04:01 AM Hallam will win this game?
Baderz_Jas 03-20-2006, 04:03 AM Game point for Tracey Hallam!!! 20-19
Dreamzz 03-20-2006, 04:03 AM well well, there goes my prediction of a one sided game ...
Baderz_Jas 03-20-2006, 04:05 AM OH NO!!! TRacey wins 22-20! :crying: :crying:
Into the rebber set now!
hcyong 03-20-2006, 04:06 AM 2 close games. Maybe the one-sided prediction will be correct for the third game.
Baderz_Jas 03-20-2006, 04:07 AM I think WMC will win the 3rd set quite comfartably because she's fitter!!!
Can't believe this!
Dreamzz 03-20-2006, 04:07 AM haha, perhaps, but for the fans, i think another tight game would be great!
but only if wmc wins!
cxytdn 03-20-2006, 04:09 AM If Hallam wins this match, England will win whole, otherwise, Malaysia will do it.
hcyong 03-20-2006, 04:10 AM Experience also counts here. Both are under a lot of pressure to win, but Hallam even more.
Baderz_Jas 03-20-2006, 04:10 AM 5-2 Tracey Hallam:crying:
WMC is making so many unforced errors at the forehand push/lift
tutu_h 03-20-2006, 04:12 AM OMG, sooner or later i will have heart attack.
Dreamzz 03-20-2006, 04:13 AM come on, more updates!
hcyong 03-20-2006, 04:14 AM If Hallam wins this match, England will win whole, otherwise, Malaysia will do it.
If Hallam wins, Malaysia can still win as victories by both CCM/KKK and CEI/WPT are conceivable.
KourKK 03-20-2006, 04:14 AM this seems to be pointing towards the womens doubles....
come on WMC!!
Baderz_Jas 03-20-2006, 04:14 AM 10-7 to Tracey Hallam
tutu_h 03-20-2006, 04:15 AM If Hallam wins, Malaysia can still win as victories by both CCM/KKK and CEI/WPT are conceivable.
just hope that emms is exhausted.
cxytdn 03-20-2006, 04:16 AM MD for Malaysia certainly, but WD........
Baderz_Jas 03-20-2006, 04:17 AM 12-8 to Tracey Hallam :crying: :crying:
Come on WMC
badcliq 03-20-2006, 04:17 AM common malaysia!!!
sigh~
Dreamzz 03-20-2006, 04:17 AM I would say WD is 55-45 to the English pair, though they did look edgy against the Indian pair in the 2nd game yesterday ...
Baderz_Jas 03-20-2006, 04:19 AM WMC 12-14 Come on!!! So close :O
Baderz_Jas 03-20-2006, 04:20 AM Now it's 13-15!!! Aiyo

badcliq 03-20-2006, 04:30 AM nearly had an heart attack....
m'sia oledi got dissapoinment in squash~ luckily not this 1
Baderz_Jas 03-20-2006, 04:30 AM Now KKK/CCM should take this and make it 2:2:eek:
Malaysia Boleh!!! Wahoo!
hcyong 03-20-2006, 04:30 AM Phew... Hats off to Tracey. WMC should now have the confidence for the WS event. There is not a lot of competition (Tracey, Li Li, Xing Aiying and Saina) and it's good to beat one of the toughest.
cxytdn 03-20-2006, 04:30 AM According to this match, 21 is better 15?
tk009 03-20-2006, 04:31 AM LOL next time there should be a live chat forum or something so we dont have to keep posting

Baderz_Jas 03-20-2006, 04:34 AM so m'sia leading 2-1 now?
Yeah. SOrry, my mistake. I meant KKK/CCM could win it for Malaysia!:D
Dreamzz 03-20-2006, 04:35 AM Now KKK/CCM should take this and make it 2:2:eek:
Malaysia Boleh!!! Wahoo!

Dreamzz 03-20-2006, 04:48 AM Yeah, the maximum of rallies is only 59!
is it deuce only to 30?
i thought one player had to win by minimum of 2 points regardless of the score ...
cxytdn 03-20-2006, 04:48 AM First time for Malaysia winning the mixed team in Commonwealth Games?
tutu_h 03-20-2006, 04:49 AM update please...
Baderz_Jas 03-20-2006, 04:49 AM 19-14 to KKK/CCM
2 more points!!!
tutu_h 03-20-2006, 04:50 AM thanks Baderz_Jas, keep updating.
hcyong 03-20-2006, 04:51 AM Theorectically, in the 15-point system, you could be twice as good as your opponent, and beat him 15-0. (ie. you win two rallies and lose once, and keep doing that).
In the 21-point system, the score would be something like 21-10, somewhat more respectable for your opponent.
Baderz_Jas 03-20-2006, 04:51 AM 1st game to KKK/CCM 21-14
KKK finished off with a backhand kill! Nice
Dreamzz 03-20-2006, 04:52 AM yeah mate, good job ...
what i should have done today was take the day off, or half a day and went out to buy a digital box yesterday ...
:p
hcyong 03-20-2006, 04:52 AM is it deuce only to 30?
i thought one player had to win by minimum of 2 points regardless of the score ...
You must win by 2 points, with the exception that at 29-29, the next one to get a point, wins.
Baderz_Jas 03-20-2006, 04:52 AM is it deuce only to 30?
i thought one player had to win by minimum of 2 points regardless of the score ...
No, it goes upto 29-29 and then it's sudden death   SCARY!!!:D
cxytdn 03-20-2006, 04:52 AM 19-14 to KKK/CCM
2 more points!!!
No more than 30:D

it all depends on the unforced errors but it doesn't mean that he is not as good as previous scoring.
Baderz_Jas 03-20-2006, 04:54 AM 4-2, malaysia leading
hcyong 03-20-2006, 04:54 AM Like I mentioned before, Malaysian women have come far in a few years. 4 years ago, we would have lost in WS already, and then will lose in the WD next. But right now, even if CCM/KKK lost, there is still half a chance in the WD.
Dreamzz 03-20-2006, 04:54 AM wow, at 29-29, i think shaky hands might be a problem if it were me.
but i guess those guys are mentally tough and would have trained for that.
tutu_h 03-20-2006, 04:55 AM Like I mentioned before, Malaysian women have come far in a few years. 4 years ago, we would have lost in WS already, and then will lose in the WD next. But right now, even if CCM/KKK lost, there is still half a chance in the WD.

WMC has shown her potential since the last Commonwealth game, she beat Julia Mann then.
Baderz_Jas 03-20-2006, 05:07 AM 15-11 now after 1 of the longest rallies
hcyong 03-20-2006, 05:07 AM WMC has shown her potential since the last Commonwealth game, she beat Julia Mann then.

Baderz_Jas 03-20-2006, 05:11 AM 19-13 to malays

qwertyu 03-20-2006, 05:23 AM Wong Mei Choo deserves the loudest applaud!
badcliq 03-20-2006, 05:24 AM just wondering if anyone has taped it and will put it up to bit torrent? would like to watch it...
Dreamzz 03-20-2006, 05:46 AM wow, just saw the highlights from the WS and MD.
WMC was so close to losing it, trailing 14-8.
but great comeback, although Tracey had an amazing shot to defend against a tap from WMC, she still couldn't capitalise in the end.
in MD, KKK's net play was amazing.
by the way, does anyone know what racquet CCM is using?
it looks to be all black on tv, i couldn't make out the model.
Dreamzz 03-20-2006, 05:47 AM yes, excellent commentary Baderz_Jas, good job!
10th Captain 03-20-2006, 05:52 AM Yay!!!They made it!!Malaysia Boleh!!
Women of the final : WMC
Man of the Final : Super KKK!!:p
KKK very superb! He dominate front of the court.
Yay!!KKK Boleh!!
Dreamzz 03-20-2006, 05:53 AM haha, you're not a bleach fan by any chance, are you??
tutu_h 03-20-2006, 06:00 AM i can't imagine what the outcome will be if malaysia can produce 2 KKK.
Twodogs 03-20-2006, 06:10 AM just wondering if anyone has taped it and will put it up to bit torrent? would like to watch it...
Yeah - I'd love to watch it too!!!!
Dreamzz 03-20-2006, 06:19 AM hahaha, if only that were possible.
but then, if korea had 2 park joo bong's or indonesia had 2 tony gunawan's, that would have been something as well ...
jcl49 03-20-2006, 06:19 AM During the match with Chan and KKK, I wondered why KKK didn't smash much (more of a net man). In the Surdiman Cup he was much more potent.
haha, you're not a bleach fan by any chance, are you??
Why, are you Matsumoto?

yeah i'm super bleach fan!And KKK too!!!:D
tze yang 03-20-2006, 06:40 AM My DVD recoder fked up im so pissed off...i managed to only get the 3rd set of the heart attacked provoking game of WMC and tracy hallam and the whole CCM KKK Vs Blair Clark...
I was so looking forward to rewatch how aamir got played like a monkey by LCW...damn!!!
But nontheless, it was one of the craziest game in the commonwealth games history and i would have to say WMC and Hallam's game must be the best and most exiciting game that is played under the rally point system and will remain for quite some time...probably forever if they decide to change it back...
MALYSIA BOLEH!!! 3 Golds in total now, lets see if they can sustain this performace and bring in 4 more in the individuals...
alloh 03-20-2006, 06:43 AM Congrats to Malaysian Team !!!
Atually I think WMC decided the winning of Malaysia. If she lost, then it is not so good for WD (wong/Chin). She is the heroine of Malaysian Team.
But from my opinion, I think Tracey played better than WMC. Tracey controlled WMC in all 3 sets..... Don't know why WMC won? Maybe she got luck?
Tracey knew the weakness point of WMC, she always return the shuttle to the back right corner. And WMC seemed not good in returning back after 2-3 rally.
Errmm.... WMC still not in the top class, maybe she really need to change her playing sytle. WMC go go go ~!

If you watched the 1st set, you should also realise WMC caught Tracy Hallam's weakness by playing it more to the baseline, thats how she got back in the game and won it, but tracy then realised it and never let her do that again...
Tracy didnt actually control the whole match, they each had their own share of control in the game, but mostly started out with tracy dominating then WMC fighting back, then in the duece(settings) part, it was all mental and luck
tutu_h 03-20-2006, 06:59 AM well, it is time to tell Aamir to shut his mouth up and eat his own words
alloh 03-20-2006, 07:01 AM Don't know. At least 45 mins
It was 65 mins totally.
weeyet 03-20-2006, 07:09 AM well, it is time to tell Aamir to shut his mouth up and eat his own words
what did Aamir said?
alloh 03-20-2006, 07:13 AM what did Aamir said?
:D dia karut banyak... cakap besar. He wanted to beat LCW.
tutu_h 03-20-2006, 07:15 AM what did Aamir said?

Dreamzz 03-20-2006, 07:33 AM haha, he's a nobody, i normally don't like to insult players because they obviously train hard and well, there's no way i could even get a point off them, but this guy is unbelievable. sure, he may (and judging by some other comments here maybe he isn't) be the best in england, but that amounts to just about nothing. i'm sure there are some 15 year old juniors in the chinese squad who could beat him in straight sets whilst suffering from diarheoa.
:D
tze yang 03-20-2006, 07:35 AM maybe that 16 year old india girl can beat him?lol
Dreamzz 03-20-2006, 07:37 AM maybe that 16 year old india girl can beat him?lol
nah, even that's stretching it a little bit too far. if that were the case, tracey would play MS and he would be dropped completely!
alloh 03-20-2006, 07:40 AM Why not England hire a Single players coach? Maybe Chinese coach? I am not sure if they had hired previuosly or not, but now they should since they have good men doubles (for me they are consider good pairs).
Baderz_Jas 03-20-2006, 07:44 AM well, it is time to tell Aamir to shut his mouth up and eat his own words
Yeah, he is gonna have a nightmare tonight! hehe:D :D
alloh 03-20-2006, 07:49 AM maybe that 16 year old india girl can beat him?lol
Hahahah.... funny, but I would say no way! ;)
I think if Malaysia just send the 5th Singles Lee Tsuan Seng also can beat Aamir.

I was just joking lol, obviuosly she cnt beat him, well dnt even need LTS i suppose, seychelles 1st single with 1month coaching by Li Mao would do the job

Aamir is too naive
alloh 03-20-2006, 10:14 AM Is this CWG a IBF event?
If so, then that would help for Malaysian Players in world ranking.
The coach told me that WMC was the hero of the game. If she lose... it will definately go down the line with the Women's doubles. Well she delivered this time.. unbeaten record. I hope it will stay that way.
mcchooi 03-20-2006, 01:32 PM in MD, KKK's net play was amazing.
by the way, does anyone know what racquet CCM is using?
it looks to be all black on tv, i couldn't make out the model.
been told that full black racquet signifies the player NOT using racquets produced by his sponsor (i.e CCM may be using a non-Yonex racquet in this case). i noticed that it's got an oval shape as opposed to the isometric one too.
madbad 03-20-2006, 01:41 PM I think now that Aamir Ghaffar has been put in his place, we can put this to rest. Onto the individual events.
FEND. 03-20-2006, 02:05 PM You guys have too little faith in Wong Mew Choo. She has stronger nerves than Tracey :p
EDIT : Aamir Ghaffar is a pom
bdbc74 03-20-2006, 02:56 PM Know somebody where one can buy this very cool tiger-stripes Malaysia t-shirts?
cooler 03-20-2006, 02:59 PM so, is the thomas cup next after commonwealth games?
madbad 03-20-2006, 03:08 PM Anyone know if the seeds play today or if they have byes into Rd. 2. Can't be bothered to click on every match link on the website to find out–terrible design.
madbad 03-20-2006, 03:11 PM From the BBC website:
Team England land mixed silver
Robertson and Emms could not save England from defeat
England missed out on the mixed team gold in badminton after losing 3-1 to a strong Malaysian team in Melbourne.
Olympic mixed doubles silver medallists Gail Emms and Nathan Robertson got England off to a good start, beating Choong Hann Wong and Stock Ai Ooi.
But Aamir Ghaffar lost his men's singles before Tracey Hallam went down 25-27 22-20 18-21 to Mew Choo Wong.
Malaysia sealed victory when Chong Ming Chan and Kien Keat Koo beat Anthony Clark and Robert Blair 14-21 14-21.
England coach Ian Wright said: "We gave it our best shot, it's certainly nothing to be ashamed of.
"Malaysia were the big favourites and we got really close to them. We couldnt have done a lot more.
"It was a strong performance and it bodes well for the individual events."
As each of the 10 Team England team members played in the mixed competition, they all receive a silver medal.

The coach told you?!!! Ants! Are you at the games or did you ring him or something?! *peers suspiciously* If I found out you're here and you didn't come and say hi, I'm going to so open a can of whupass when I see you next time! :p
The atmosphere at the finals were amazing! You guys who got to watch the WMC and the men's doubles would know what I mean..it was edge of the seats stuff! It took me until 2am to finish my article for IBF because I was trying so hard to capture what happened! Took lots of pics with the victorious Malaysian players too and WMC even let me borrow her medal, she's such a sweetie! I'm going to try and convince her to come play in the Equinox NZ Open! Woot!

If i'm there i will surely meet up with u, Loh ,FEND and others. If not i really deserve the Whoppass! . It thru Phone call and text msges... i have to work also. Some of the players are really estatic about the win.I guess i have to ask them to treat me for dinner when they come back to KL. Gold medal means good cash incentives from the government. :D. Hopefully they will land more medals in the individual events.
So I take it as Adelina think 21-point still can have different suspense? I think the true test for 21-point system is during Thomas Cup SF and Final where teams are more balance. The 21-point did pretty well in China Master, IMHO. As a older player, I prefer 21-point(had tried) as I don't lose because of my stamina and able to go all out without worrying too much about my durability. As viewer, I think 15-point is more exciting to watch but sometime games can drag too long and for the 5-events per tournament, is not easy to concentrate in watching ...
