Malaysia Boleh !
badMania 10-23-2005, 06:47 AM Its all over now. LCW has won in two straight sets 17-14 15-8. Congrats!
Now, will the Malaysian contingent participate in HK Open in 2 weeks time? Yap Kim Hock (the chief coach) has mentioned the possibility of withdrawing the main team to prevent them from injuring themselves prior to the SEA GAMES if they win the title in Denmark. Now that they have won, will he change his mind or stick to his prior decision?
Overall, Team Malaysia will go back to KL on a high after excellent results in the European tour. They got two men's singles titles in the Holland and Denmark Open, a double title in Dutch Open and some respectable showings by the women's and junior men's doubles players. Now, can CCM/KKK clinch their first major title?

jkusmanto 10-23-2005, 02:17 PM It seems that Rexy has produced a good result for Malaysia MD.
mee too.Lcw has won his first 5 star tournament and better still it is out of Malaysia. So the jaguh kampung tag should be officially removed from today.Kkk/Ccm has shown fantastic improvement under Rexy's coaching.Keep up the good show gentlemen.
Yes, LCW deserved his win, after a close call in the first game when he almost lost to Hafiz. Both players gave of their best and there were a number of long and exciting rallies that really sapped their energies.
IMO, it was the first game that decided the winner and LCW just managed to come up on top. Although Hafiz seemed to be not as fit, he gave a good account of himself and covered the court well. But the first game exacted too much from him and he succumbed in the second and the match rather timidly.
Maybe the 'jaguh kampung tag' should not continue to plague LCW as he has now won a 5* IBF event on foreign soil, but here again, his opponent is a fellow countryman. It would have proven beyond doubt if his rival in the final were a non-Malaysian. But, I'm sure this wait would not be too long! ;)
In the MD Final, Chong & Koo did well against Lars & JR, but one could sense that the latter pair was somewhat not in unison with their actions and thoughts. They were a far cry from winning their first and only WC a few years ago and the talk about their imminent breakup must now be for real. So CCM & KKK need to further prove themselves in another major, maybe in the forthcoming SEA Games with the Indonesians in attendance.
On the other hand, the winning WD Japanese pair of Shiota & Ogura impressed greatly when they beat their English opponents quite convincely and this must due in part to the contribution by Park Joo Bong, the world renowned Korean doubles specialist, who had also coached the Malaysians not too long ago. In general the doubles department of the Japanese team, both for men and women, have shown vast improvement!
It would not be fair not to mention the tireless effort of the Chinese ladies featured in the WS final. Both of these ex-China players were dropped from the Chinese national team owing to their lack of height, but boy have they GROWN tall in stature in their respectively adopted countries, Pi Hongyan for France and Xu for Germany. Yes, they really fought tooth and nail but in the end, it was the more tenacious Pi who triumphed. They both knew each other's game rather well as their encounters in the past have been like a see-saw. I'm sure many of us who watched the proceedings on the telly were totally surprised by the long rallies and the gasps for oxygen time and again by these two ex-compatriots. A fantastic display indeed! :D
badMania 10-23-2005, 10:10 PM Outstanding performance from the Malaysian Stable winning both Single's and Doubles Finals. Haven't seen both in Podium for such a long time. :) At least a confidence booster for them at the upcoming sea games.
Great to have my fav japs girls winning the Ladies doubles.! :)
With both Hafiz and LCW on form, they are favourites for the men's singles title. Both are noth afraid of either Sony or Simon. Sony is still recovering from his injury and we will see how he perform in the upcoming HK Open. If he can beat Hafiz in the third round, he stands a chance of defending his gold medal which he won in Vietnam 2 years ago.
As for CCM/KKK, it will be a tough battle against either Luluk/Alven or Markis/Hendra. Choong Tan Fook/Lee Wan Wah stands a higher chance of retaining their doubles crown. They have a good record against Luluk/Alven.
Ooh...and yeah...the Jap girls are now becoming my favourite ladies doubles pair, apart from maybe Lee/Lee.
extremenanopowe 10-25-2005, 06:00 AM well done to the singles and doubles and the rest. its still nicer to see a full fledge internationals from china and indonesian player to compete. Else, there is always a so called "gap".
rgds:D
wickeddrop 10-25-2005, 10:31 AM Like i said in my previous posts....I think LCW has the talent and ability to be #1 in the world in the near future.....hopefully he can ride the momentum of this 5 * win!!

LCW could win in Dm open 2005 becos indonesia and china didn't participate there,
he must prove in HK open 2005, the real test is there :)

well i think we can't say that for sure... whenver the top 10 (even 20) players play against each other it'd always be very close.
it is fair to say that lindan-taufik-LCW's matches are 50-50, while when they play the rest might be 55-45, IMHO
:)

**KZ** 10-26-2005, 07:43 AM he'll meet lin dan in quater or semi final hk open 2005
chong wei-lin dan
1-1
chong wei has won once against lin dan and lost once in rubber games
i think if he is on form....he can beat lin dan
hopefully:D
Yes, I agree that with so many top quality contenders for the title, it is not easy to predict the outright winner. Much has to depend on their form on the competition day itself. Hopefully, none of them will be affected by injury or bouts of food poisoning, etc, otherwise their chance of success will turn from good to bad overnight.
But we should all be able to enjoy some fantastic badminton next weekend when, hopefully, live telecasts of the Semis and Finals of the Hong Kong Open will be available in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. :)
