I predict that :
MS : Lin Dan or Taufik Hidayat
WS : Xie Xingfang or Zhang Ning
MD : Candra/Sigit, or other Indo pair
WD : Yang Wei/Zhang Jie Wen or Gao Ling/Huang Sui (other Chinese pair may make surprise)
XD : Nova/Lilyana or Zhang/Gao

MS
4 players predicted to qualify for the semi:
Lin Dan vs. Taufik
Bao Chun Lai vs. Kenneth J
I guess it is a bit difficult to predict especially a match T vs LD.
Assuming that they are consistent, I think Taufik will go the Final and he will meet Bao Chun Lai.
If this happens...I think the match T vs BCL will be very interesting and even more entertaining than the match T vs LD. For Taufik, Bao is the toughest player to beat. This can be seen from their duel record showing that Bao has beaten him more. As you all know that it is always interesting to watch Taufik play when he has his personal ambition at stake to pursue. Knowing that Bao's achievement lately has not been so good, I guess Taufik will come out as a winner. Anyway, if my prediction comes true, this match will be one of the most entertaining match of the year. Woow...I can't wait this match...
MD
I predict that Markis Kido will win the tournament. Their recent achievement of winning the Asian championship and Indonesian open (despite absence of other top pairs especially from China) have boosted their confidence. They are now on par with other top pairs such as Chandra/Sigit. I watched them in the Indonesian open when beating Denmark's, Malaysian's pairs and Chandra/Sigit...They are so strong and agrressive. I like them very much. It is true that they have not been well tested yet.

HK open Champion:
MS; I hope: Bao Cun Lai or Lin Dan, but I think Lin Dan will win or Taufik.
MD; Hopefully my fav chinese players Cai Yun/Fu Hae Feng, but Kido/Hendra, Chandra/Sigit and Luluk/Alvent makes me sad cause they have bigger chance than my fav..hiksss
About WS and WD, I don't have choice cause the chinese already covered it very well..
XD; I hope Zhang Jun/Gao Ling, Korean Players or Thailand Players. Nova/Lilyana just very lucky can become the winner.
Anyone agree with my prediction? ;)

MS : Lin Dan, LCW or Bao. Don't think Taufik is in the right frame of mind to win this, concentrates well on big events only.
MD : Chandra/Sigit, Paaske/Rasmussen, Alven/Luluk and Koo/Chan are closest possibilities. Kido/Hendra, Cai/Fu and Jung/Lee are outside bets.
WS : Anyone from China (not necessarily playing for China)
WD : Zhang Jiewen/Yang Wei. If other CHN pairs win, it's a set up to manipulate world rankings.
XD : As per snoopygirl's suggestion.

Err...Jung Jae Sung is not paired with Lee Jae Jin this time. He is paired with Han Sang Hoon if I am not wrong.
I think Lin Dan can win the HK Open. Unless Taufik wants to win badly, otherwise, he could even lose to LCW in the quarter-final.
As for men's doubles, I hope Markis/Hendra can win, although Candra/Sigit is the big favorites for the title.
For mixed doubles, it's open to any pair. Lee/Lee could probably win it.

taufik will be the winner in ms,
taufik has a pattern, it's "win-loose-win-loose" pattern
just look the taufik's pattern, win-loose-win-loose-win(sin open - mas open - wc open- indon open - hk open 2000)

i hope lcw will win the title....:)
your choice is too subjective :)
Looking at the MS Draw, the QF stage will be interesting and decisive:
1. Lin Dan will not have it easy against the former World No. 1 (I think) Lee Hyun Il, who has been impressive of late. I presume Lee will be able to beat all time favourite, Peter Gade, whose form has been affected maybe by playing too many hard matches.
2. Recently crowned Denmark Open champion, Lee Chong Wei will find Ng Wei of Hong Kong, playing on home ground, to be painstaking as Ng is known for his fighting spirit and persistence. It will be a long drawn affair and if Lee becomes impatient, it will be his downfall and Ng will then have to face Olympic champion, the unpredictable Taufik Hidayat, who should have no problem overcoming Wong Choong Hann in Round 3.
3. Chen Hong should face compatroit Bao Chunlai, with Bao seeded higher and expected to win. But if Chen still has the fire in him, he can surprise as he did against Lin Dan at the AE.
4. Alas, although seeded 2nd, Kenneth Jonassen has not been able to show his formidable form of late and I think he will not get past either Shon Seung Mo or Ponsana Boonsak, whoever prevails during Round 3. Thereafter, I think probably Boonsak will meet Sony Kuncoro in the QF.
So, it is too early to predict the outright winner at this stage. The outcome of the QF may change all hopes and aspirations. ;)

I think for Taufik, if he wants to be so called undisputed champion, he will need to win this to put a stamp to his dominance. I believe, LinDan will do whatever it takes to win back the glory. Am off to KL whole of next week and hope to follow it.
For doubles, very open, may be a 5th to 8th seeder to win.

Its not easy to win in two championship in a row, especially the whole pool of super-world-class player are in HK Open, any way good luck to LCW, hope he could prove me wrong! :p
As for MD, Candra/Sigit will win.;)
