I watched Pi Yan Hong played in the Denmark final. Really impressive. One of the very determined players. I hope she will be able to match the Chinese players in this tournament.

Hongyan is still leaving in France...
I do agree with you that she's cute and so kind with anybody.
Nothing but a star if you try to speak with her.

Too bad there are not more sports personalities like her. Strikes me as well grounded and has not let success get to her head. Is she considered a recognizable personality in France? I can't imagine badminton making many sports headlines.

...
I had PAPERS, you lost.
Actually Hongyan is not that recognized in France. Obviously french federation try to "use" her image and her results to boost badminton but we only won 30sec at TV every 6 months... Hongyan is more and more recognized by players and young beginners.
I would add that in the very best french newspaper "L'EQUIPE", Badminton is more and more present, due to Hongyan in some way.
We are still far from volley, sailing, handball, ... coverage even if we have larger or equal number of players.
But Badminton is young and the generations that all have practised it at school since 10 years are growing ....
