The line up for men singles sucks big time! Look at 3 ouf of the 4 matches.. they are all own country's affair... wouldn't it be so much more exciting if they all get jumble up!! haha :D I blame it on the draw :p

I don't agree with that simply because if we put all the good players in a single line, then no one will interest to watch the final. Because the result is very so obvious. Don't you think so?
yuval_ba 11-03-2005, 02:55 PM ... and also lin dan over peter gade! for sure...
I hope you are wrong :D
their last meeting on the WC was quite close and watching the match I think Peter made too many unforced errors.
I think it is 50-50 chances and hope it will be Peter Gade :)

I agreed with you, they are 50-50. But if Gade can't win the first game against LD, the chance for him is very slim.
Shuttlecock kin 11-03-2005, 04:25 PM same goes, and also lin dan over peter gade! for sure...
I said 2 days ago that Taufik or Lin Dan will not win. Well, I am only 50% right thus far. Lin Dan is the best player in the world, a deservingly No.1 but his stars cannot shine all year round, its in the Feng-shui, its in the stars. WCH wins most of his titles towards the end of the Calendar year (China Open, World Runners-up etc) , he looks good and either him or Peter will triumph over Lin Dan.
I joined this site because I missed all the Singlish, Maglish and Honglish, they are so beautiful to read like
Last time he can, now cannot....or
Yesterday result not posted, today one also can't find...
and the gem of them all.....is
Wow, no got result, 6 star tournament, how can? so lau-ya one, this thing no good...
:)
Its so unfortunate that WCH have to face LCW in the quarters. Would hope at least they have each other in the semis or finals.
i think the match to watch will be peter vs lindan
virusvoodoo 11-03-2005, 04:36 PM I agreed with you, they are 50-50. But if Gade can't win the first game against LD, the chance for him is very slim.
Poor Gade as he is stucked with playing his archnemesis, Lin Dan, again but in an earlier stage this time.
Yeah, I think Gade can beat Lin but he needs to be patience and not make so many unforced errors. Nevertheless, it is pretty hard for him to do so since he has lost his strength and stamina, plus Lin Dan has superb attack as well as defense and stamina as well.
Boy, the odds are stacked up against him, aren't they? But I really want him to beat Lin though.
By the way have you guys noticed how in the MS matches, with the exception of the Gade vs Lin game, they are all playing against their compatratiot? If Gade pulls through, then Denmark, Malaysia, China, and Korea will all have a representative in the MS semi-final stage.

Agreed! Lin and Gade almost always put up a good fight against each other.

MEN'S SINGLES
Lin Dan vs Peter Gade (it's good to have Peter Gade winning for a change)
Lee Chong Wei vs Wong Choong Hann
Chen Hong vs Bao Chunlai
Park Sung Hwan vs Shon Seung Mo
Except for the first match, all are lousy draws. The players are playing their own compatriots.

Both WCH or LCW is good enough to be in the finals in their own right but I still fancy WCH this time. Again Peter might win or push Lin very hard, Peter, like WCH, is a late end of the calendar good player. K Johansson is the reverse, he is not going downhill, he plays well during Jan. to may be Oct. after he put all those X'mas pudding, pies and Turkey inside his system. watch out for him at All-England in March.
Hey, your own Kennectic is good player too as a fact, not an Assumption. He once nearly beat Xia Xuan when the latter was still the world champion.
Shuttlecock kin 11-03-2005, 04:51 PM Except for the first match, all are lousy draws. The players are playing their own compatriots.
My dear,
Its not lousy draw, its because these players happen to come from countries in which badminton is like football in Brazil, still I do agree with you on a spectator point of view, it would be goos if it is WCH Vs Cheng Hong, LCW Vs SS MO and Bao Vs Park. That would make life much more exciting and we all needn't have to say "why this draw is so like that or my Indian fren would say "apa ini machang !!"
BaddestHawaii 11-03-2005, 05:02 PM MEN'S SINGLES
1. Lin Dan vs Peter Gade
2. Lee Chong Wei vs Wong Choong Hann
3. Chen Hong vs Bao Chunlai
4. Park Sung Hwan vs Shon Seung Mo
1. Lin Dan will probably win because Peter Gade doesn't seems to be in good shape.
2. Lee Chong Wei will most likely will win over WCH as we can see Lee is in top form as his skills been polish over and over by Li Mau in the past year. He was unlucky in world championship but I think he has higher chance to win the title comparing to Lin Dan. As we can see, his win over Lin in M'sian open this year was not by chance, he was controlling Lin to the point that Lin was unable to use his smash. :D
3. No diff. since both players is from China. Bao may be advantage in terms of age but I think Chen plays better than him overall this year when he beats Lin Dan in All England 2005.
4. Shon should have no problem beating Park.
Talking about Legendary players, I think NOBODY can compare to ZHAO JIAN HUA, (not even close, may be Yang Yang :) ). When he is in mood, he can beats any players in the badminton history < 5. He is amazingly good. Probably we won't see anybody like him in the next 100 years.

Look at 3 ouf of the 4 matches.. they are all own country's affair... wouldn't it be so much more exciting if they all get jumble up!! haha :D I blame it on the draw :pYes. IT's better to have it this way in the QF. If they were spread out, that's how you get only one country's players in the semi-finals. Everything would be like women's doubles where you always have 3 or 4 Chinese pairs in the last four with maybe the Koreans sneaking in when no one is looking. I know it sucks for Malaysia and Korea who only have 2 guys left and only one as of tomorrow but If Bao, Chen, and Lin were "jumbled up" you could end up with all 3 in the semis and that would make for a more boring SF and final.

Matches between Lin and Gade are usually close. I have not seen Lin Dan for a while, but Gade seems to be waning as seen in the Denmark Open. So I go for Lin Dan, but I hope it's gonna be a close one again.
Wong CH may have beaten Taufik, but Lee CW is showing good form also. I will go for LCW on this one. A semi between Lee and Lin or Gade will be great.
It's hard to choose between Chen and Bao, but my gut feeling says Bao.
Shon should take this one.
All in all, the top half looks the more interesting (by miles) to me.

Look especially at the similarity of the 'i' in Lee Chong Wei.
I hope nobody will accuse him of being biased or anything.

The last two encounters between LCW & LD were all in Malaysia and this is the first encounter outside Malaysia. Time for LCW to prove that he can do as good as he was in Malaysia. This match is really crucial for him to prove his ability.

LCW is not "import" player ..................
wl2172 11-04-2005, 04:41 AM ffc2002, stop pissing everyone off. This is a friendly forum, please no childish discussions.
Granted, Indonesia is one of the top badminton nations in the world, we know that!!! Also, what is wrong with "import" players. Singapore and Malaysia are providing jobs for people around South East Asia, and a stable environment to live, is that wrong? People have a right to go where they want, and choose to play for whichever nation they want if they feel that their home country cannot provide for them.
LCW is Malaysian, he is not an import player. It is shocking that as a badminton fan, you only know ppl from indon.
magical_phoenix 11-04-2005, 04:46 AM Any news from MD, XD and WD?? Without the proper live score, this world just seems SOO HUGE even with all the internet connections... :( :(

I think ffc2002 must be misunderstood that "Malaysian-chinese" here. LCW not an import player, he is Malaysian and race chinese. In Malay word, Rakyat Malaysia bangsa Cina. Now do you understand?
LCW is from the same kampung (village) with me, Berapit - Bukit Mertajam, Pulau Pinang. :p And another MD player Chew Choon Eng also from Bukit Mertajam, Pulau Pinang.
Also, I totally agreed that Taufik is a very good player in the world but not undefeated. He lost to Wong Choong Hann 6 times totally. But Taufik only won over WCH 3 times.

felicialim 11-04-2005, 04:54 AM From the post i read in a few forums, i think that ffc from indonesia dislikes all malaysian players. Of course we dont have any super mix doubles but for men double, will you be sure that there wont be any malaysian representative in semi-final or final if Lee Wan Wah-Choong Tan Fook took part in this tournament? Maybe they have never won world championship and all england, but they are among the most consistent doubles during these few years, entering at least quarter-final, semi-final and final in some tournaments, although they have alwiz been in and out from badminton due to injuries. They have superb skill and speed too and even Park Joo Bong has acknowledged about it before.Their head-to-head score against Ha-Kim is 5-5! AND they have alwiz won against Indonesia doubles.
Lee Chong Wei is not an imported player. He is MALAYSIAN!!

It's good to see Robertson/Emms coming back to form. The XD event is really interesting now. There are quite a number of pairs who can beat one another. Nowadays it's even more unpredictable than MS.
Tracey Hallam has shown promise even before this, but she has not really broken through yet. When judging players, I tend to compare then with Wong MC, and my feeling is that she is slightly behind Wong MC. Maybe she should give up doubles to concentrate on singles.

It is not easy for most people (other than Malaysians) to seperate nationality from race. If you say you are Chinese to any random person in the world, he would tend to think you are from China. Also, the difference between Malay (race) and Malaysian (nationality) is alien to most people. For instance, Hong Kong people will call you "Malai yan" (in Cantonese) rather than "Ma loi sai nga yan".
Secondly, most Indonesians know by the surname "Wijaya" that he is a Chinese descendant.

Malaysia don't have any import players. Who would want to play for Malaysia (besides Malaysians)? The best we can do is to hire foreign coaches to coach the Malaysians.
The term "Malay" is quite broad. There are Malays who originate from Sumatra, Jawa, Sulawesi etc. and from Malaysia itself. It's like saying you're "Chinese" but China is so big. Incidentally, the Malay language (and official Indonesian language) originates from the Riau islands (just south of Singapore).

i don't really know that LCW origin from Malay (again..i knew it from Steven..)
and Padang is not race...it's kind of province (same like Sabah, Serawak, etc)
Minang is a race..clear know?..
i think u have language problem. that was what i tried to explain to u. ppl(mainly malay) from Padang (your province) came to malaysia (was called malaya at that time) and settled down in malaysia. these ppl were mainly malay in race. ok? clear now?
ffc2002 11-04-2005, 07:24 AM u guys can give him a better explanation?
LCW is not m'sian -malay
he is m'sian -chinese
i knew about that..
he's 100% malay but malay-chinese
he doesn't have muslim name...like hafiz,etc
i got it..
but i'm not really sure about wijaja or chandra, hendrawan are indo-chinese
it's just like the other name of indo-origin people...
thx for your explanation..
weeyet 11-04-2005, 07:25 AM ffc, let's make this in a nutshell
Susi Susanti, Alan Budi Kusuma, Chandra Wijaya, Eng Hian are all orang cina, their etnic is Cina (Chinese), they are not from China, maybe their grandparents are from China. They are born and raised up in Indonesia. They learn Indonesian language, their lifestyle is Indonesian, all about Indonesia.
But after the former Indonesian President Suharto wants only one Indonesian identity in Indonesia, all orang cina (chinese etnic ppl in indonesia) have to change their names to indonesian names.
That's why Wang Lianxiang became Susi Susanti, Wei Renfang became Alan Budi Kusuma, Chen Jialiang became Chandra Wijaya, Liang Hailiang became Rudy Hartono. I don't know whether you know this fact, even though you're a Indonesian.
But the Malaysian government didn't impose such law, the orang cina still can keep their chinese names. Lee Chong Wei is born and raised up in Malaysia, his grandfather is from China, not him, so do Wong Choong Hann, Lee Wan Wah, Yap Kim Hock, etc. All of them studied in Malaysian schools, eat Malaysian food, drink Malaysian water, trained under Malaysian system, participated in Malaysian Under-18 Badminton Competition.
Although they are orang Cina, but they are Malaysian, not China people, they are Chinese-ETNIC Malaysia. I doubt your general knowledge. Nowadays, chinese-etnic people are spread all over the world.
It's just like, you can't say Thierry Henry is an African, he is a French, OK?
Or, when Pi Hongyan is married to a chinese-etnic french, they lived in France and their grandson became a world champion, would you say that her grandson is a French or Chinese?
Are you clear now, ffc?
seven 11-04-2005, 07:27 AM ffc2002, I suggest you read more carefully the other posts, you would understand better.
To answer your last post (though you could find the answer by just re-reading properly previous posts) :
Candra Wijaya and Chen Jia Liang are the same person.
Candra Wijaya is his indonesian name.
Chen Jia Liang is his chinese name.
As said before, in Indonesia Chinese-Indonesians use their indonesian name, this is why he uses Candra Wijaya as his name.
In Malaysia, it would have been the opposite.
..................
I can't dare ask if things are clear now!...
other 11-04-2005, 07:28 AM wijaya or candra..or both of that?which one the chinese name..
well..lets talk about the result...
neither one is his "chinese" name.....they are both normal indonesian names. That is what other people have been saying, that the indo-chinese use indonesian names.
therefore both candra and wijaya are not chinese names
Phoebe_hsw 11-04-2005, 07:28 AM i'm bleeding now.fainted~
chong wei is 100% malay,i think if he saw this ,he will also pengsan
tutu_h 11-04-2005, 07:28 AM sorry..but i can't see the chinese letter...
well..let's just say that have difference culture between malay and indo
(include about 'name')...
wijaya or candra..or both of that?which one the chinese name..
well..lets talk about the result...
chen jia liang = candra wijaya
ye cheng wan = hendrawan
huang lian xiang = susi susanti
wu jun ming = tony gunawan
and etc....
they don't use their chinese name in indonesia bcoz of your government that prohibits them from using. but everyone outside of the "tempurung" knows it. unlike in malaysia, we have the right to use our chinese name. clear now?
kinkikids 11-04-2005, 07:31 AM normally i come here just to view results, but because i saw this fellow: ffc2002's reply, i think some clarification have to be made here, for our beloved buddy...
First of all, Malay is Malay, Chinese is Chinese. Dun simply mix this 2 together.
Secondly, Citizens from Malaysia are not ALL Malay. Malay is a biggest race in Malaysia. But the country doesnt belongs to them, alone!
Chinese in "Malaysia" is just like other chinese in "Singapore","Hong Kong","Taiwan" and "China", not to forget "Indonesia". There's nearly no difference betwen all these, accept some slangs and mother tongue. Besides Banana(ppl tat dunno mandarin), All Chinese knows how to speak at least cantonise/mandarin.
Now, is about naming. Chinese in Malaysia, they are all allowed to use chinese name, eg: wong ah kau. While in Indonesia, because of their country's policy, mejority of them uses Indonesia name. So those Wijaya, Sosanto, Gunawan and so, appear. But some they are sticked to their chinese name, eg: Lim Swee Ching(famous player during 80's).
get it? Please dun make the same mistakes again. I hate when my race being misunderstood as Malay! i believe other malaysia-chinese also!

coops241180 11-04-2005, 07:43 AM Tracey Hallam has shown promise even before this, but she has not really broken through yet. When judging players, I tend to compare then with Wong MC, and my feeling is that she is slightly behind Wong MC. Maybe she should give up doubles to concentrate on singles.
odd you should say that.. she only took up WD recently.. i think she's feeling her age a bit.. fairly sure she's older than Nathan Robertson, she might even be 30.. i think. it may be more likely that she'd give up singles since she has young successor in elisabeth cann on the way, also after that england has two youngsters that should come on the scene in a couple of years. so tracey maybe looking at WD as a way of extending her career, adn her and nat munt seem to do okay...
interesting interesting..

ksooi 11-04-2005, 07:43 AM I think ffc2002 needs to really understand the difference between nationality and race......
He can support Lin Dan all he wants but I don't think he needs to put down players from other countries mainly LCW.....FYI ffc2002, most of the great badminton players from Indonesia' origin is China...
Whether Lin Dan or LCW wins it is also the Chinese race that wins coz both of them are Chinese origin( if i am not mistaken, from the same province as well).....the difference is Lin Dan is representing China and LCW representing Malaysia.....If LCW's forefathers didin't take the boat and landed in Peninsula Malaya, who knows, LCW could be playing under the China flag.
As for coaches, if PBSI can't take care of their own coaches, wht do you expect them to do....starve to death in Indonesia? The 'great' Rexy went to England before coming to Malaysia....If he can improve the standard of the MD in Malaysia, why not....BAM is employing sparring partners from Indonesia right now coz a bunch of players just left...again this is Rexy's recommendation.....I don't see anything wrong in that...and fyi ffc2002, the only reason why Indonesians are going abroad to represent other nations is becoz PBSI cant take care of their welfare.....Its a free world so anyone can take in players from other countries...
Unlike the China players, those tht left the country is coz they couldn't maintain the high standards set or they are rejected by the China BA. But by no means bein rejected by the China BA means they are not world class....look at Pi Hong Yan, Yao Jie ........some of them are rejected coz they are not tall enuf.....

Pengsan is the correct Malay word in Malaysia.
Pingsan maybe is the Indon word.
BTW, ffc2002 are you really from Indonesia? What race are you? Sure not orang cina right? Do you know there is orang cina living in Indonesia like in Malaysia and Singapore.... or I should say around the world.

Inky2000 11-04-2005, 07:56 AM Also, I totally agreed that Taufik is a very good player in the world but not undefeated. He lost to Wong Choong Hann 6 times totally. But Taufik only won over WCH 3 times.
http://www.worldbadminton.net/Portal/desktopmodules/player_head.asp?firstname2=Choong+Hann&lastname2=WONG&firstname1=Taufik&lastname1=HIDAYAT
I've been maintaining a more comprehensive (or at least I'm trying to) database of major players' head-on records. The actual count is 6-6,
10 Aug 1999 - SEA Games (Men's Team final) - 15-5, 15-2 - Taufik won
14 Aug 1999 - SEA Games (Men's Singles final) - 15-10, 11-15, 15-11 - Taufik won
1 Dec 1999 - Grand Prix Finals (preliminary round) - 15-12, 13-15, 9-15 - WCH won
7 Jun 2001 - World Championships (Last 16) - 15-10, 11-15, 15-7 - Taufik won
19 Aug 2001 - Singapore Opens (final) - 7-5, 0-7, 7-1, 1-7, 7-4 - Taufik won
23 Nov 2002 - Batam International (semi-final) - 15-1, 10-15, 15-7 - Taufik won
25 Sep 2003 - Denmark Open (last 16) - 5-15, 12-15 - WCH won
7 Nov 2003 - Taipei Open (quarterfinal) - 12-15, 4-15 - WCH won
27 Dec 2003 - Copenhagen Masters (preliminary) - 4-15, 6-15 - WCH won
17 Aug 2004 - Olympic Games (last 16) - 11-15, 15-7, 15-9 - Taufik won
28 Dec 2004 - Copenhagen Masters (preliminary) - 6-15, 8-15 - WCH won
3 Nov 2005 - HK Open (last 16) - 15-7, 9-15, 12-15 - WCH won
WCH won over Taufik 5 times in the last 3 years ... but he was defeated in the most important event - The Olympic Games!
other 11-04-2005, 07:56 AM orang cina?..what is the difference between orang cina, chinese and chinese-indo?..
the fact that all of them have a chinese name..i got it..
but..the fact that noun :"susi susanti, alan budikusuma, candra wijaya"
are came from China dictionary i didn't knew it..
the fact : Wang Lianxiang, wei renfang, etc came from China dictionary..i knew it..
that's why i'm so suprised that noun:susi susanti, alan budikusuma, candra wijaya are from china words..
thx for explanation
all is lost:rolleyes:
first off, nouns do not equal names...a name is not a noun. In chinese, names are made up of characters, which can be nouns, verbs, adjectives etc etc. After the name is complete, it is not known as a noun. A noun is an object, a thing, such as a tree, or a badminton racquet. A noun is not a name.
susi susanti is not in the chinese dictionary. it is her indonesian name. names are usually not in a dictionary, but the individual parts that make up the name may be words, and therefore could be in the dictionary.
wei is in the chinese dictionary
ren is in the chinese dictionary
fang is in the chinese dictionary
but "wei ren fang" is not in the chinese DICTONARY, it could be in an encyclopedia, but shouldn't be in a normal, standard dictionary.
neither is "allan budi kusama" in the chinese dictionary, first becuase it is not chinese (language) and secondly it is a name.
when wei ren fang took allan budi kusama to be his name, the are not the same words, just in another language. it is not the same as
tree=shu(in madarin)
badminton racquet=yu mao qiu pai(in mandarin)
it is just a name. For example if i moved to USA from china, and wanted a US name, I would possibly choose one that sounds similar to my chinese name, or has the same meaning, or one with neither the same sound nor the same meaning. It is a name they chose. What is so confusing about it?
chinese can describe both the race (ethnic group) and the citizenship.
therefore indonesian-chinese in this case means indonesian citizen (passport, ID card etc etc) and chinese ethnic group. This could be because that person's grandparents moved to indonesia. Even though he was born in indonesia and have indonesian citizenship, his ethic group is still chinese.
ethnic group describes your heritage. for example, white people (caucasians) can be british, french, german etc etc etc. therefore the same can be for chinese ethnic group. you are chinese, but are also german, french etc etc if u are citizen there.
there is another chinese word "hua qiao", which describes this idea, of chinese ethnic people who are born abroad, and therefore have some connection to china, even though they are also "foreigners". this could be orang cina.

ffc2002 11-04-2005, 08:17 AM Hey..plese respect the other people and u'll be respected!!
(like Tatu says..)
Hi guys,
This is a forum on badminton, not race, creed, politics or religion. Besides, I will tend to forgive ffc, like his name suggest, it has two Fs and one C, so there you are....
other 11-04-2005, 08:19 AM i don't understand why people are saying this discussion is preventing us knowing the latest results....
its not as if the web people (if there are any:p) at the HK open are reading this thread instead of updating the results. From what I can see, this discussion is mostly limited to those people who are online waiting for the result, so whether they are discussing or not is not going to affect the speed at which we will learn of new scores. (unless you are being pedantic and say that they are slowing down the BF server)
and seriously, quit saying "where at the rest of the scores!!!!?!??!!?!?!"
the people updating have only found the ones they have posted, so repeatedly saying where are the rest of the scores is not going to make it any faster...
just sit back and wait
weeyet 11-04-2005, 08:19 AM Yes definitely....he is a very very very talented player...if he puts his mind into it, he can just blow anyone away....
He is just in a class of his own at times....he can turn on an off so easily....
Often it's mental strength that differentiate between a great and a talented player :D
ying ying 11-04-2005, 08:20 AM well,i just wondering, are you a member of another chinese forum?
Er.. Not that I know of.. Why?
ksooi 11-04-2005, 08:21 AM ok..this is my explanation..
Tang Sin Fu, Lim S K are indo-chines (orang cina) name
Rudy hartono, Hendrawan, Tony, Candra..(indo-chines race but use indo name)
you should know different between indo-chines name and indo-chinese race
Taufik, Sony, (indo race and indo name)..are you clear enough?...
HAHAHA...the point is do you get it????
Just as Lee Chong Wei is Malaysian-Chinese(orang Cina) using a Chinese name coz he doesn't have a Malay name....and to call him 'Malay' is very disrespectful coz he is not of the Malay race(dia bukan orang melayu)
I think all of us in this thread knw the difference but do you???
ffc2002 11-04-2005, 08:23 AM Hey, plese respect the other people then you'll be respected?..(like Tatu says..)
You think that your english was good enough huh?..
i don't think so..(just your name kelly---english name,try to duplicete kelly clarkson, you think u good enouh?..huh)
but you seem never respected the other...
i really found it quite funny that after all the explanation given..ffc2002 still couldn't understand wat we are trying to tell him..actually do he understand english??????????
weeyet 11-04-2005, 08:23 AM HAHAHA...the point is do you get it????

ksooi 11-04-2005, 08:25 AM Often it's mental strength that differentiate between a great and a talented player :D
Yes..tht is why Malaysia has lost out......our players just don't have the mental strength....but all is not lost....we are definitely working on it. :D
Tht is why BAM hired Li MAo and Rexy....to instill mental strength in our players :)
GunBlade008 11-04-2005, 08:26 AM It's been mentioned so many times before and referred back to far too many times. I'm kindly asking the people in here to stop the racial arguements, who CARES?! They play for their team, leave it as it is. People that come to this thread look for analysis and score updates, not a completely OFF TOPIC thread, which I believe kwun wouldn't be too happy about.
Syaoran_Style 11-04-2005, 08:35 AM Well ... we're talking about THE HONG KONG OPEN 2005 =p
Sooo everybody let's discuss about THE RESULTS lol (and not players origins hihihi)
Soo i wanna say something .. yang/zhang beat wei/zhao 15-1 15-4
I'm a biig biig chinese supporter but i CANT BEAR those things !! how the number one pair in the world could win 15-1 15-4 against the fourth chinese pair and all england runner up .... china won't stop to disappoint us .. =//
It's quite "unfair-play", not unfair play for the players .. but for the crowd and for the TV spectators .. and of course for all fans of chiina team (like me !!)
Maybe one day they'll understand what is SPORT !! :( :( :( :crying: :crying:

Well thts what happens when you have players from the same country playing ea other. Its unfortunate but they are all playing for their country's BA unlike tennis where they are playin for themselves and a point could easily cost USD100K(in tennis)...... So they have no choice but to obey the head coach's instructions.....
lauti 11-04-2005, 08:44 AM :) Hope tomolo Malaysia friends will be able to update us with the latest scores since they will be able to watch it on chnl 80, pleassssssssseeeeee

streamyx 11-04-2005, 08:55 AM Pls ask your goverment why they cannot use chinese name. In Malaysia we can and chinese (Manderin) is use widely in Malaysia. Infatct, Lee Chong Wei when u read it. It is actually a chinese slang, we just spell it out..
i don't think so..let's say Angelique Wijaya (our tennis player..)
she never get descendant from Chinese..
how you explain that?..

I can't believe this thing really could happen in Malaysia. It isn't fair to WCH if it really had happened!

But after the former Indonesian President Suharto wants only one Indonesian identity in Indonesia, all orang cina (chinese etnic ppl in indonesia) have to change their names to indonesian names.

ksooi 11-04-2005, 09:10 AM I can't believe this thing really could happen in Malaysia. It isn't fair to WCH if it really had happened!
Believe it or not it does.....badminton is now a team sport even though its an individual event in the open tournaments...
The coach will decide which player has a better chance of defeating the opponent in the next round....it makes sense coz they are all playing , like i say for the national BA...the players are afterall employed by BAM.....
weeyet 11-04-2005, 09:11 AM cool it bro, even if it really happen, why not take it as a good strategy. FM, LCW could really in superb form, nobody knows:D
Yeah, I admit this is a good strategy, especially after Lin Dan had played a rubber game with Gade.
However, if such team orders really happened, I would just feel sorry for Choong Hann because he deserved a chance to fight.
Good luck to Chong Wei, don't disappoint us!!

jermaine 11-04-2005, 09:23 AM opps sorry. i think final would most probably be lin dan and bao chunlai.. quite boring ah?
if its lee chong wei and bao then the winner sure to be leechong wei.
lin dan would be in a disadvanage state already.. so tired after the match with gade like wc.
when he played against taufik no fighting spirit. cant be helped la. too tired.
ksooi 11-04-2005, 09:27 AM opps sorry. i think final would most probably be lin dan and bao chunlai.. quite boring ah?
Hard to say....if LCW use the right tactic and neutralize Lindan's attack, then he is in with a chance ....Anyone that saw the M'sian Open final would know LCW played a very tactical game that day...I'm sure Li Mao will be asking him to play the same game as tht day...
BCL and SSM also a 50-50 game....SSM is no slouch and afterall he is the Olympic silver medallist......
rollerbuzz 11-04-2005, 09:30 AM lin dan will win this title no matter what you guys say.. mwahahah :D well at least he has my full support! :p when he was playing in malaysia open, i was alone sitting beside the court supporting lin dan when he was playing against chong wei.. lol :D go 林丹!

yes you are very right...no matter what everyone says, it is up to the players to perform.....so for tht matter, we are all not sure who the champion will be......
Wht do you expect in the M'sian open?...in a hall full of 5000 malaysian supporters with the deputy prime minister present...of coz all the spectators would be supporting LCW.....
I won't be surprised if we see some M'sian suporters in the QE stadium tomorrow.....
15_up 11-04-2005, 09:40 AM sorry..i've been knew it from Steven..( i think Steven know e'thing)
sorry..don't blame me..
If you are not sure abt something, pls do not simply say it. Pls read the rules before posting a msg(be civil). What is the problem with you anti- Malay or Malaysian( if one, since u are not sure) anyway? It is just sport..just let's hope the better player win.

15_up 11-04-2005, 09:50 AM but i think Candra is origin from Indo..it's not Indonesia-Chinese name..
Of course Chandra is from indonesia, but if he is a Indonesian Chinese, his ancestors are definitely from China. Is that mean he is a "import" player too? Abt the name, he might have a chinese name, but bcos of ur country regulation of anti chinese name, he just can't put in the birth cert. and i think this regulation is introduced during Soekarno ruling period.

Among the alumni of World Junior Championships 2000, LCW was the "latecomer" to the distinguished club of world class men's single players (as compared to the champion Bao Chunlai, runner-up Sony Kuncoro and semi-finalist Lin Dan) but he seems to have the potential to overtake them and become the world No.1. Could these four players form the new four Heavenly Kings in the future, after the relatively senior Gade, Jonassen, Chen Hong, SSM and WCH retire? Well, I think Sony should be replaced by Hidayat.

Yes...LWW/CTF to me is still the no1 pair in Msia....KKK/CCM still has loads of work to do ......same goes for OSH/TBS, LVF/Fairuz and GTC/Zakry
the only reason LWW/CTF is stil in the team is because YKH realise tht there is still a gap in the MD....same goes for Chew Choon Eng....CCE is now partnering a junior to try bring up the standard
Employing Rexy's services is really going to help our MD players....
