Phew...just came back from the Queen Elizabeth Stadium after watching both sessions today. I was lucky to be able to catch the last MTR train back to my place...otherwise, I will need to take a taxi. Here's the semi-final lineup with the predicted winners in bold as usual.

Lin Dan vs Lee Chong Wei (Lin will be super tired after his titanic battle with Peter Gade this afternoon, which lasted more than 1.5 hr -- so, I pick LCW to win)

Astro is an international broadcaster, can be viewed from Malaysia, Hong Kong, India, etc...

The semi's turned out to be China vs. World. Every game features a Chinese player/pair and one from other countries. This is probably the only time in Grand Prix history.:D

Not to mention the Woman SF. There are 4 Chinese women in the semi although only 2 are representing China :)

lcw beat ld in 05 MO in 3 mainly because crowd support.
ld had a tough match with pg and bombs out like in 05 WC.
i would give lcw over ld in 51/49 odd :D

Its not going to be easy for LCW to play against LinDan. He shall not expect the same result from the Msian Open match. However since LinDan has been stretched to the limit by Peter Gade , LD may be feeling alittle tired. LCW have to play aggesively and take advantage of this situation.

My prediction for this match is LCW with 80% chance of winning.

I think is 50-50, I think Lin Dan is very fit so it should not affect him that much from yesterday match. However, LCW need to play smart, don't go for full assault like he did when facing Taufik in the first game of World Championship SF which backfired. Just play his usual game and do not try something extra ordinary as LCW is not known for his power play, play with speed and drag the match into rubber then LCW shall win.

I like LCW to win but my prediction goes to LD because he is more consistent and able to excel in major tournaments. LCW can win if he can think BIG, see BIG, and want to achieve BIG...

My prediction goes for LCW.

LD is a formidable player that cannot be taken lightly. But at time he plays really poorly especially when his attacks bear no fruits. If LCW can put up a great defensive play, LD will shatter.

My bets are on LD. Let's not compare to the Malaysian Open as the line judging was not exactly the greatest for that match.

Every matches were tough and most of them were won by him with rubber sets against the top players and he did it. Although he used up a lot of energy, but he could then pull himself through it with his skills and strong mental strengh and became more confident after going through a tough match.I already got a bad feeling after his match against choong hann yesterday.

I really don't think it has anything to do with not enough warmup....it is definitely a mental thing......the match against WCH is purely tactical.....LCW just didnt look confident enough to day...and futhermore lin dan was quick off the blocks....definitely no excuses in the part of LCW and kudos to lindan for deploying the right strategy.....lcw had no answers to ld's attacks......

i forgot 1 factor that is also very important in this HK open, LD is more hungry to win, and after all, HK is china. After his dry spell in WC,MO,IO,DO, etc, LD must win or else LYB would have a fit :D . Yes, hindsight is 20/20 :)

giving up and cant get into the game is too separate issues....LCW just couldn't get into the game today....

Taufik can have no interest in a match and then suddenly pump up the volume....depending on the rewards.... ;)

LCW is mentally less prepared than LD in major tournaments. LCW being a very nice guy seems to be very humble and thus not aggressive enough to put up a touch fight. LD on the other hand projects a "bad boy" image and being an aggressive player himself will not give his opponent any chance.

I think WCH is currently the only singles player tht has the killer instinct....sometimes players are born with it....no matter how skillful you are if you lack tht killer instinct...then its :crying:

Is it being held on GD Sports? And if so, can someone explain to me how I can get it to work? =/Did you get that working yet? I have Guangdong sports going on PPLive now. A lot of stalling but I see some action. Haven't tried the others. I downloaded the latest PPLive just today.

at the beginning i decided not to watch the match tonight, but now i think Wang chen vs XXF should be very exciting..i plan to go to QE to watch it now...hope the gd tickets are still available..
