A seller on eBay lists a racquet for $X, shipping is $Y and doesn't want local pickup. When the item didn't get any bids, the seller lists the racquet again for $Z. $Z+$Y is less than $X, which defeats my initial thought as to the seller wanting to get a few extra dollars off the shipping charge. Now my thought is, is the racquet a fake? What do you think?

Hmm, originally, Price X + Shipping Y = Total A
Then, Price Z + Shipping Y < Price X
From there we can see:
Price X = Total A - Shipping Y
Price Z < Price X - Shipping Y
Then, Price Z < (Total A - Shipping Y) - Shipping Y
Price Z < Total A - 2x(Shipping Y)
Now, since this is purely math, you see the seller is willing to take some loss. However, I don't know your logics about this racket being genuine/fake based on all above. Anyone can sell fakes as little as $10 USD or as high as $200 USD, same with genuine rackets as well.
Conclusion: Why don't you just show us the link instead of giving us a math quiz? :p

my theory is based on 3 points. First, local pickup is not offered. Secondly, seller re-lists the item below what s/he would have gotten even if it was pick up locally in the first place (and still refuses local pickups). Lastly, if you look at the feedback, you might notice something strange. When I add everything together, I just wonder...

I guess I'm just disappointed that local pickup is not offered, as I would have got it as a gift for my buddy this X'mas. :)

No local pickup has nothing to do with genuine/fake racket issue. Perhaps he/she doesn't feel comfortable with meeting strangers or he/she has a busy schedule or something like that. (or he/she could be a public figure !)

Item was listed at $90 + $15, re-list for $70 + $15 (NR both times). If the item was won in the first listing at $90 and local pickup was offered. Seller gets $90. re-listed item won at $85 + $15 -$10(actually shipping), seller gets $90. Of course, this is based on the assumption that the same group of buyers is looking at the same item and because they didn't bid at $90 the first time, they would not the second. Assuming it takes the same amount of resources to do a pick up and packaging/mailing, I can see no reason not offering local pickup. This is why I'm asking opinion of the forum. :)

But I want to meet somebody famous! Yes, you have a good point, but I'm just using normal (paranoid) reasoning. Why do I think so much?
Anyways, the only way to get the answer is to buy the racquet and verify its authenticity. Anyone? :D
